Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Friends can be like that. She is either jealous or so focused on her own weight/issues that she couldn't notice what was going on with you. Your loss is fantastic! Keep it up!! I can only hope that I do as well.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I haven't been banded (first appointment is Thursday) but I do know what to tell people when they offer food. I have been a diabetic for quite a few years now and people really do forget. I say "what, are you trying to kill me?" then I laugh. No one ever brings sugar free or low carb goodies to parties! Sometimes I even bring my own food or I sip a sugar free beverage all day.

Thanks HeatherA! I do have lots of questions and I would love to meet everyone but I have already commited to a baby shower on 3/8. So may be next time. I live in NW Columbus so Polaris really isn't that far.

Hi Everyone Have any of you had your surgery at Riverside? With Dr. Myers? If so, I would appreciate any feed back. I have my all day scheduled for 4/8 and will have surgery shortly after that. Thanks!

lilo God will help you...all you need to do is ask.
  7. Hi Everyone I am an insulin dependant. I was taking around 170 to 180 units a day on the pump and my numbers were still going to high. Now I am on Humilin R which is very rare. It very concentrated. My numbers are better but still not quite low enough. I am thinking of having the lap band surgery in April and was wondering if anyone had any success stores to share with me regarding insulin usage?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi lilo Whoooo Hoooo.....only 2 more months to go! You are on the upside of the wait now! Waiting can be very difficult when it's all consuming so you just need to find a new way to look at, while keeping an eye on what you have accomplished. Then it will be over before you know it. Dropping 40lbs in 4 months is outstanding! Spring is fast approaching. Try working on your list of all those spring projects so that you don't dwell on the 2 months. May be the sound of months is difficult for you...think of it in days or weeks, those are shorter! Good Luck

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks C.N.! That is good to hear. Sugar isn't a big problem for me because I'm diabetic. I gained 85 pounds while pregnant with my sone 25 years ago and never lost an ounce after his birth! I have had a desk job for the last 35 years and my hoby is machine embroidery. So as you can see I don't get a lot of exercise! I am confidant that my high blood pressure problem will go away but I'm not sure about the diabetis because I am insulin dependant. I will say that the more posts I read, the more excited/anxious I become about having this procedure done! And I think my husband finally agrees with me.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Good Morning.... I very happy that I happened to find this site on the web! I have been reading everything for the last two days! I have not had surgery yet. I have an appointment with the doctor on 3/5 then an all day valuation on 4/8. Surgery should be shortly after that. I really wasn't sure about the type of surgery to have but the more I have read, I think I am going with the LapBand. I'm 53 and have been over weight for 25 years! I have tried every diet known to man and nothing has worked. I have 123 pounds to loose. I am a diabetic using an insulin pump and have high blood pressure. And I'm tired of being tired all the time! Can any of you out there tell me how LapBand weight loss has helped you with these types of cronic illness? Secondly do you expierence any difficulty taking medications? Thanks!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

The key is walking walking and more walking.
  12. I understand how you feel. I am in the same situation. When I told my best friend that I was thinking of having this surgery she said I was crazy then added that I should join WW with her. My sister did the same thing...saying all you need to do is exercise! What they don't understand is that I have done all of that and it doesn't work. And I have never felt full in my life! I say turn to the internet for support! We are here for you!! Good Luck!
