  1. Apples, my arms and legs ache, but not like my stomach. It is all those adhesions, especially the ones by my port.
  2. Melinda, you sound miserable. Yep, you will probably get better as the cold clears up. I went through that last year. My band seemed so tight with all the drainage. I hope you are better soon.
  3. Laura, I have been praying for your dad and family......I will continue to pray for all of you..........God's Grace and Peace be with you during this time. HUGS, Arlene
  4. Apples , you are a HOOT! Yep, I feel the same . I have one sister. She doesn't want to help take care of my 86yr old mother, but when she does............I never hear the end of it. I continue to keep my mouth shut about how I feel, but when mama is gone............it ain't gonna be nice. For now, for respect of my mother, I will continue to play nice. I love my sister..............I just don't like her. Hey, I am feeling better. The stomach relaxer has helped me, but a cold front is moving in tomorrow. That will be the test. Today, it is in the 90's, but tomorrow.........high 50's. Girl, if I lived in the north I would have to move to Hawaii. Great.........glad you are doing so good. Did you get a card from me? I hope I had the right address. Janet, many thanks again for this thread. It keeps me accountable. HUGS to all! Arlene
  5. Katy............how are you doing? I prayed for your last surgery, but lost track. I am having problems now. I think it may be Fibromyalgia because it is triggered by weather change. The adhesions across my upper abdomen cause my stomach to spasm which causes acid reflux and diarrhea. It is crazy. I am taking a stomach muscle relaxer right now and it does help. I too have entertained the idea of a gastric sleeve if the band stops working, and so far I have been on a plateau for months. My surgeon highly recommends them over bands. Insurance wouldn't pay so I have a band. The person that had a sleeve I think was a lap band moderator and she may have a gastric sleeve thread now. Is her name Teresa? Janet(Indiogirl) knows her.
  6. Thanks to all the Butterflies for being here for me. We all need support. Heaven knows, those who don't have bands don't understand. By the way, I am feeling better today. The stomach medincine has really helped. I am tired of being on this plateau. Has anyone considered getting a sleeve? I have been entertaining the idea......not that my surgeon would ever open me up again.
  7. Don't beat yourself up. Today is a new day. Journal your food and you won't overeat. If you do want something off plan then save the calories from another meal and eat it. It will take awhile to get good restriction. You are in "bandster hell" right now. We all went through it.
  8. Janet............sorry for your loss. I know you feel violated. My son was out of town and had everything electronic taken from his home and guns too. People on facebook knew he was out of town. He thinks it was someone who knew him......maybe even the lawn people. He updated his alarm system. People are deperate these days. Well, after pilling up I am feeling better today. This is the weirdest condition I have ever had. When the cool front blew in I felt like I had diverticulitis. After taking a muscle relaxer, xanax, Librax, and Tylenol.......I got a handle on the pain. I really think I need and unfill to control the acid reflux . Great..........you sound great! Apples........did you decide on the job? Laura.......praying for you and your family. If.........why did your friend have her band removed and get a sleeve? Phyl...........saw the pics of your grandkids. They are adorable. Deann........it takes awhile to reach that sweet spot. It is very important to write down your food or you will eat too much. Be patient.......you will get there.
  9. Yeah, you are not supposed to take Advil on a regular basis. I had me a drug cocktail last night.......Ambien, Tylenol, Pepcid, and Librax. I woke up this morning feeling much better. Oh, I forgot, I took a low dose of Xanax too. Hey, when you hurt like I did, you have to do whatever it takes. I am hoping to come up with the right mix next time the weather changes. This is the weirdest condition I have ever had. My gut felt like I had diverticulitis......and that is bad. You would think my weight would go down, but I retain fluid with these meds. I will let y'all know what happens after I see the WL doc. I wish he could go in there and take out all of my adhesions. I know I would get some relief.
  10. I went to the GP yesterday. She thinks I may have Fibromyalgia. She gave me a muscle relaxer for my stomach and told me to take Advil for pain. A cool front blew in today, and my gut is hurting. I took the muscle relaxer and it didn't help so I found some Levsin. I have so much acid reflux I know I need to get an unfill to help. I go to the WL doctor on the 19th.
  11. Thanks for the info. I will talk to my WL doctor about a slight unfill. I am still in the denial state. I took a stomach relaxer this morning then the first big cool front blew into Houston about an hour ago. I am cramping big time. All those adhesions from previous colon surgeries are fired up. I had IBS till my first colon surgery about nine years ago. Then it went away until last month. My adhesions are so bad the doctor would not do bypass on me......the band was my only choice. Even though I have lost half of my weight.....I am at a plateau. I took a metabolism test last month. You breathe in a machine and it reads the calories you take in (resting metabolism). It wasn't good. I only burn 1300 calories a day. So, in order to lose a lb a week I can only eat 1200calories. Now I have to deal with taking more medication. I hope I can still lose. The GP yesterday said something about takine Savella. Does anyone take it? What are the side effects? Is it an antidepressant? I have taken a low dose of xanax for years for my adhesions. It does help a little for the anxiety , but not for the pain.
  12. Thanks for the advice. I see the WL Doc on the 19th. My concern right now is the acid reflux when I have these spasms. I don't want to mess up my insides. Hopefully, he will order GI tests to make sure everything is okay.
  13. Does anyone get IBS with Fibromyalgia? I went to the doctor today and she said I may have Fibromyalgia. Adhesions spasm across my stomach and give me IBS. She started me on a stomach muscle relaxer today. I hope it helps. The aches are bad enough, but this IBS is the pits. I may even see about having some fill taken out. I have so much acid in my stomach when the spasms kick in. I don't want to start having band problems too.
  14. I am so glad you are home and feeling so good. Take it easy, and don't over do. The only way I can describe it is my abdomen feels like I just got out of lap band surgery. Those adhesions spasm right across my stomach which causes my stomach to cramp. I am going to only take the advil when needed and alternate with Tylenol. I will save pain meds for last resort. I hope the stomach relaxor works because it hurts worse than the body aches. I am thinking I might have a little more taken out of my band till I can get a handle on all of this new found problem. I have been journaling and walking, but still have not lost weight. At least I have not gained........that is a blessing! Take Care!
  15. I went to the GP today. She thinks I may have Fibromyalgia. She did not prescribed the heavy duty anti inflammatories because I can't tolerate them. She did prescribe a muscle relaxor for my stomach and told me to take advil for the aching. If the pain persist she is going to prescribe a new drug for Fibromyalgia. Changing weather is not going to be my friend this fall and winter.
  16. Laura, I am so sorry your news was not good. I know your parents must be in shock, and you too. Please know you and your parents will be in my daily prayers. Arlene
  17. Apples.........try it! Get it out of your system. I haven't worked since 2000. I volunteer. I know what you mean about interacting with others. I am a people person too. Girl, if it doesn't work for you............quit! Oh, a quick update on me. I have been in pain since the weather changed. I am going to the GP tomorrow, then the weight loss doctor on the 19th......then the endocrinologist on the 22nd. I need some answers. All of the adhesions around my band surgery hurt. My arms and legs feel like I have the flu. Now, today, it is sunny and the pain has gone. Go figure.
  18. This is a fly by...........not feeling good. I am having spasms across my abdomen where I had band surgery. I have an appt with the GP on thursday. I have an appt with the WL doctor on the 19th and endocrinologist on the 22nd. Boy, I am old! I should get to the bottom of the this problem. Meanwhile, I am eating on plan and not losing. I haven't been able to walk because of the weather. Okay, later! HUGS to all my buddies!
  19. I hope y'all don't mind me jumping on this thread. I live in the Houston area. We started having cool fronts about three weeks ago. That is when my problems started. I ache like I have the flu, and I have pain in my abdomen where I have had surgeries. I also started having IBS which I haven't had in years. Could this be Fibromyalgia? I do have Hoshimoto's thyroditis. I am going to the endocrinologist on the 22nd for a thyroid check. Is there a blood test for this? I do get relief at night if I take Tylenol and a xanax, but I am miserable in the mornings and evenings. Now, this isn't everyday. Just when the weather changes. Thanks for starting this thread.
  20. Lori, you will do good. Just make sure you have a chair you can get in and out of. When my DH has his knees done all we had were low couches and rocker recliners. We ended up buying a lift chair since he had to go through two surgeries. Take care and I will be praying for you. Janet, the weather in Houston was in the 80's today, but I think it will be cool this coming weekend. Praying for you too!
  21. Join the club. I journal my food. If I don't........I eat everything in sight. Even those with bypass have the same problem a year after the surgery. They just don't absorb all their calories. Hopefully, you can get a fill and get back on the bandwagon.
  22. My doctor's goal for me was 800 in the weight loss phase. I just haven't reached that kind of restriction yet. Well, I reached it, but kept pbing so they took it out. I am just journaling and hoping to lose it that way. The band helps with the hunger, but it hasn't done the magic I was hoping for. He warned me that is was just a tool, and I had to work really hard.
  23. I hope you feel better today! Yeah, 1300calories is a bummer. I knew it was slow, but geez........no wonder I am a ton of fun. I think it is due to taking blood pressure med, hypothyroidism, and just a sendentary lifestyle. The things I due don't require a lot of physical work. So, this week I am going to double my exercise time, and stay faithful to the 1200 calories a day. I think I won't weigh till next friday. The nutritionist said weighing everyday is not good. Okay, July Butterflies, lets try checking in. If you have any good recipes please share.
  24. Eva, That test just proved to me that I have a very slow metabolism. It revealed how many calories I needed to eat in order to lose. With the right restriction I believe 1200 is doable. Arlene
  25. Everyday is a new day to get back on track. I have not lost weight in several months.......well, I lost two lbs last month. I started going to a nutritionist at the Dr's office. Today I took the test where you breathe into a machine for 10 minutes and it reads your resting metablolism. Mine is 1300 calories a day. If I exercise it is 1500 calories a day to maintain my loss. In order to lose I need to eat 1200 calories a day. I am glad I took the test. Now I know why I haven't been losing. So, if you are a slow loser start by journaling. You will surprised at the amount of calories you are eating. Then slowly cut back starting with empty carbs. Add good protein snacks. All this info came from the nutritionist. Janet has preached the same thing on this thread. Hang in there! Be proud of your 40lb loss!
