I had the test. I breathed into a machine for about 10 minutes. The machine said that I burn 1300calories a day resting. With exercise(walking) I maintain my weight with about 1500calories a day. I need to eat 1200 calories a day to lose 1lb a week. At that rate I will reach my goal by January 2011. So, I am in for the long haul. This is a lifestyle change. Right? I did not get a fill because I have had IBS. My gut is hurting from adhesions. I think the arthritis in my back is causing this. I may get a tweak next month then I will be good till January.

Okay, here is the scoop on the metabolism blow test. I blew into this machine for about 10 minutes. Well, I just had my nose pinched off and breathed into the machine. I have a 1300calorie a day resting rate. With light exercise I can eat 1500calories a day to maintain. To lose 1lb a week I need to eat 1200 calories a day. So, I am in it for the long haul. I can do this! I did ask about my pain. It is probably arthritis coming from my back and causing the adhesions to spasm. She did not give me a fill because I have had reflux and she said that does swell the band. So, I will go back next month maybe for a tweak and should be done for awhile. Oh , she did tell me to only weigh once a week. Janet, you should be a nutritionist. You said 800-1200 a day and exercise, exercise, exercise. Your advice was free, she charged me. I would recommend this test.

Laura, I had my gallbladder out in 1990. Tylenol helps. The weather thing makes me think it might be auto immune. I do have thyroiditis from time to time. In fact, my thyroid was swollen two weeks ago. Anyway, we will see.

Apples, thanks, now I don't feel crazy. I too have had several colon sugeries, two of which were for adhesions causing obstructions. I was reading that fibromyalgia can cause that kind of pain. Anyway, I will get my thyroid doc to check it out. Again, thanks!

Julie, I am so sorry you are in so much pain. I haven't read posts lately, but I take it that it is your back. I have herniated disks in my back and I have had epidural cortisone shots several time. They do help. I have a new pain that maybe one of y'all can help with. Okay I live in Texas where the weather is 90 for many months. Last week we had our first weather change. My upper abdomen started aching. The weather warmed up and it stopped. Now, today, we are getting our first cool front. My abdomen started aching last night, and this morning I have alot of acid reflux along with IBS. Has anyone had this happen? I know this is adhesions, but I didn't know weather would kick in the pain. I am going to see Dr. Davis on thursday. Maybe I need some GI tests to make sure I don't have errosion. OKay! Enough whining........I will let y'all know what he said. Oh he is going to be on The Doctor's on the 24th talking about weight loss surgery. Julie, I hope you get relief soon. I will pray for you.

Janet, I am here. Nothing to report. Still walking, journaling, and try to stay around 1000 calories, but I haven't done so good in that department. I still eat 1100-1200calories. I know I need to make different choices. Have you eaten the Smart Ones with fruit in them? I love them and the protein is near 20g. I think that after a year the ole metablolism is at a crawl. I am a little frustrated. I can't wait to go get the metabolism test done. Meanwhile, I bought DH some 2x shirts( down from 3x) and they are loose. He has gone down 2 pant sizes. I am so glad he had gastric bypass. He feels so good. It is so much easier to stay on plan when the whole house is eating the same way. Okay, girl.........that's all for today! I will be checking in.

I think our metabolisms have slowed. From being on the thread with those that have lost post their goals I notice they are very active. They are religious about exercise and they don't cheat on their food. So, with me.......it's a mental thing. Do you think we ought to start a thread for July Butterfly slow losers? Just to keep in touch. Okay, I am going to the store to get some Tilapia. I love that stuff. Let's all continue to journal our food. If we have a suggestion or a recipe to cut calories and boost protein...........let's share. You are not a jester! You can be a princess too, but I am in line for Queen! lol

As you know, I have been stuck for months too. You know, my friend that had gastric bypass when I got lap band quit losing about the same time. Now, she lost 122lbs because she has malabsorption..........and I lost 70. She reached her goal and am half way through. I have heard that as we lose our body's metabolism slows. I have been on a 1000calorie diet for two weeks. Yes, I usually eat1200 a day, but I have only lost 2lbs. I am frustrated, but not defeated. I go next week for the test where I blow into the machine for my metabolic rate. I am really interested in knowing how many calories I need to eat to lose. There has got to be an answer for this weight loss stall.

Janet.........no he doesn't do fluor fills. I am feeling much better this morning. I had cream of wheat and decaf coffee. If I have another episode like yesterday I will get some tests done. My gut tells me it is adhesions. I go to the thyroid dr next month to rule out hypothyrodism. Thanks to all of you for being my lap band support. Also, thanks for letting my vent my concerns.- Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
I use Livestrong.com on my laptop and iphone. I think it is the same as dailyplate.com- July Butterflies Master Thread
We have a Saeco Spidem. I just make one cup of coffee in the morning and my husband makes his latte. It has more than paid for itself. Look on ebay. Might get a good price for a machine.- I'm here to help...
Janet, I don't go back to the nutritionist till the 24th. I did get a report on my bloodwork. I have low D and low B1. So, I bought some supplements. I spent afternoon PBing........really throwing up. I did not eat Breakfast then when I took a couple of bites of chicken for lunch I got stuck. Then you know the rest. This afternoon I decided to try some yogurt.......no go......pb. So, I started drinking hot tea and this evening I did eat some cream of wheat. I have had this creepy sensation in my neck for a couple of weeks. It comes and goes. It feels like a collar around my neck. Do you think it is the band causing it? I guess I will find out on the 24th. The last time I had that sensation was when I had a lymphocele in my abdomen. I hope there is nothing weird growing. Maybe I need to get some tests done just for peace of mind. Okay, enough of that talk. Later!- July Butterflies Master Thread
You can buy those sf syrups by Torani online. My husband likes lattes so much we bought a machine. So, we drink sf lattes with lactaid fat free milk.- July Butterflies Master Thread
1 day.......me too! after 10 days of logging my food I have lost 1lb. I guess I would have been gaining had I not logged and exercised. I sure would like to lose 10-15lb by December. We go to Hawaii in December for our fortieth aniversary. I am determined to get this ticker moving!- I'm here to help...
Laura, go with a small fill. I had the PA put a .4cc in me in July only to go back the next week and have Dr. Davis take out .3cc. I was miserable. I slimed when I drank Water. I did lose 3lbs in a week. Everybody's system is different. I am logging my food now, and losing very slowly, but at least I am not pbing. My DH had gastric bypass in July. He is losing without much effort. He does walk everday. I think he has lost 25lbs. My friend had bypass when I got my band. She lost 120lbs .....did not exercise. Her appetite has returned and she can eat more than me. She may be a size 8 now, but at the rate she is eating she will start putting it back on. Your right.......it is a lifestyle change. That is the hardest part about weight loss surgery. Okay, sorry to get off track. I hope you get some restriction.- I'm here to help...
Yes, Phyl.......it was me that sent the card.........so glad you are better. My DH had both knees done within three months of each other and he did so good. Now with the weight loss surgery he is even doing better. He is limited on the kind of exercise he can do, but he does get out and walk everyday. The flatbread does look like a deflated hamburger bun, but it is so good. I just toasted one and ate a turkey sandwich......150cal. Oh, it has 5g of protein, 1g of carbs, and 100cal. Great, like I said, I can't eat bread, but I can eat these sandwich thins. Yea! Phyl, using them for hamburgers is a great idea.- I'm here to help...
Just checking in..........wishing all of my LBT Buddies a great Labor Day Weekend! Great........awesome that your DD is a wedding planner. Sorry about the battery. Mine went out last month too. Found a new food. Orowheat Sandwich Thins.........a flatbread....100cal, 5protein. It makes a great sandwich, and I haven't been able to eat bread. I bought it at Sam's Club.- July Butterflies Master Thread
Here is another thing I found. Orowheat has a new flatbread called Sandwich Thins. It is also split for easy use.......100calories.........5protein. Try it. Now, I found it at Sam's. I hope every butterfly has a great Labor Day Weekend!- July Butterflies Master Thread
FYI.........I don't know if Kroger is just local to Texas, but they have a low carb yogurt(Carbmaster) that is yum........12g of protein, 1.5 fat, 80calories. I am going back to counting protein too. I need 60 protein a day. This yogurt is one of my snacks.- How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
That is the plan, but I think she knows I can't stay that low everyday. I still don't have the right restriction. I need maybe a .1 and i will be right. Anyway, I go on the 24th and blow into this machine that will measure my metabolism. It will tell how many calories I should be eating. It also tells alot of other stuff. I am kinda looking forward to doing it. - I'm here to help...
