My surgery is also at U.W.
I was told Not to expect the insurance to cover Vitamins. I found Walmart to be half the cost if insurance won't cover. (my B12 injections are $53 a month) versus $106
I was approved to and scheduled within 2 months (also on Apple Health).
I started my process Last November so it was a little while.

So I was talking to someone today about the Gastric Bypass surgery and she had it about 8 years ago. She just kept telling me well you know your going to have loose skin. A lot of it. I'm just telling you because a lot of pool don't think they will. But you will have a lot of loose skin. Ok lady thank you I heard you the 14 th time. I know I will have loose skin but I would rather have loose skin then not be able to fit in a seat comfortable , or go to movies with out having to have a seat in between my spouse and I so I have room. I can't wait to get on a plane or hell even plan a trip and not care about getting on the plane because of how tiny the seats are. Trust me I love how beautiful I am . I know I'm a really pretty woman but this weight has to go. Loose skin or not.

Transitioning to solid foods such as chicken and steak can be difficult. I relied on softer foods such as chili and Soups. I have put some of my recipes at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf
The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.
Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.

Sophies mommy reacted to Raynbolite in Does the sleeve effect mood stabilizers?
I'm bipolar too. To be honest, I'm not sure. As far as digesting the meds, with the sleeve you still have a normal tract. Everything works the same. My dr and i aren't changing my meds for a while. My body's hormones and systems are all changing, so it's hard to see what is from what. I am checking in with my med dr once a month and she's checking in with my counselor. Just keep your support system right be hind you and take it day by day.

"The stall" is what led me to this site. I was in tears and even cried a bit to the clinic's liaison, though I got scolded for even getting on the scale, she explained to me exactly what one of the previous replies said. Your body just had the hell shocked out of it and needs time to grasp what's going on! It lasted a couple of weeks but I listened to her and others on this site whom were EXTREMELY understanding and supportive. You will find your place and your body will follow, slow but definitely steady. Find comfort in knowing we are right there beside you and right here when you need to just talk to someone, no matter what stage you're at. I'm glad I am finally comfortable with this new life, I made the right choice and so did you Sent from my LG-H740 using the BariatricPal App

This happens to everyone...mine was about 2 weeks out of surgery and the scale hadn't moved for a week or so...I called my treatment centre and talked to the rn there and she said if she had a quarter for every time she got this same call she would be a millionaire! Lol. Your body is just in distress and wants to hold onto that weight with all its might cuz you are shocking your body with the very small amounts of food and fluids! But don't worry cuz it will come off fast as soon as your body finally let's go! At least I did....I lost 140lbs in 8 month!! still blows my mind to this day and I'm coming up on my 6 year anniversary next month. you'll do great don't worry

My surgery was July 18 th and for the first month I felt like I was barely losing. 3 months later today I'm down almost 60 or more. It catches up I promise. The key too that my Dr told me is to only weigh myself once a month. Its hard but it makes sense to not stress over the number, especially in the beginning. Good luck!

I have stalls once a month or month and half and it's been that way since April 19th when I had the surgery. The longest stall lasted 2 weeks. I've lost 55lbs since then though. For what Ive learned and read stalls are a normal part of our journey so I've learned to embrace them and if and when I do worry, I change something up and usually that brings the weight loss right back and puts me back on track.

My stall happened on Day 6 and lasted almost 2 weeks. Yesterday I woke up to a 3 pound weight loss and today a 1 pound weight loss.
Everyone talks about a 3 week stall. I think I just hit mine early and it sounds like yours is right on time. Hang in there!

@@UpandAtom you are absolutely right. After posting this and seeing just how many ARE able to have coffee even if it is Decaf or even a coffee flavored Protein shake. (Tricking the mid) it will be worth it. I created a short list of pros.
    1. being able to breathe when walking.
    2. BEING ABLE TO WALK MORE THAN 10 STEPS!
    3. Arthritis pain will be reduced.
    4. Being able to spend time with friends and family and not worry that I can't keep up. I have missed out on so many outings because I don't want to hold them up.
    5. Lowering the risk of heart problems, blood pressure etc. (I have none of these)
    6. Being able to buy clothes that don't look like a clown wiped his face on.
    MOST IMPORTANT.
    7. Being able to watch my sons go from young men to husbands and fathers.
Again, I want to thank the entire community here. Each and every one of you have given sound advice and always willing to answer questions and concerns. The level of support here is tremendous.

Sophies mommy reacted to TracyBar in Did anybody meet somebody that had Gastric sleeve surgery prior to when you had yours?
Hello all - I would ultimately like to meet with somebody who has had sleeve surgery prior to going ahead with mine. I think it would be very beneficial. I'm hoping that the clinic I'm going through is able to provide this.
Did any of you have this opportunity? If so, did it help you with your decision?
