OMG! I just found out I'm approved. However, after reading all these experiences, my own fears, etc....I'm kinda nervous and re-thinking things. This is my first post and I'm relatively new to the forum. I thought I'd share it here first. Thank you for listening <3

pizza? So far, the only thing I'm genuinely missing is the ability to chug a bottle of Water. I've always been a huge water drinker. Now it's almost a chore. But... really I miss nothing and I'm only 40lbs down. 85 to go!

I think mentally I still have tendrils of the "more is better" mindset that I'm trying to squash, from my old mindset. So sometimes I might say having bigger portions, but I know that feeling won't last. I think I might tend to say not having to track what I'm eating, or not having to care what's in what I'm eating...just eat whatever I want. I think there's a freedom in that, which I may miss a little at times. Particularly in social situations where I do really have to pay attention to it.
I imagine I'll kind of miss certain foods, which won't make any sense anymore. Stuff with a lot of bread, because I've always loved bread, Pasta and whatnot. But I can do without and I don't really crave it.
The list of things I won't miss about being obese would stretch on for pages, and the list of things I'll miss is exceptionally short.

So ingot chopped on the 14th. I've been averaging 85oz of liquids and 75g of Protein via shakes. I've also been walking in chunks around the neighborhood and find myself racking up about 2 miles a day.
That being said, I was in a lot of abdominal discomfort. I thought it was the CO2 they pumped me full of, but I hadn't had a "movement" since the night before surgery.
    5 days.
I hit up Amazon Prime Now for some broths and some Miralax. One dose, 4 hours, and I was a new man. I feel fantastic...
And every morning I see a lower number in the scale. Every morning.
40 years of being obese and I can't wait to see where I am in 6 months, 12 months, etc. I can actually see a future where I'm not handicapped by my weight. It's... Man... Yeah it's dusty in here.

    Hi All!
So glad this thread is getting some play! I was beginning to think I was alone. I was sleeved on Jan. 22, so I think that makes me 17 days post op. I am feeling okay. I started mushies yesterday which has helped a lot. I am glad we have a space to connect. I do live in ATL (Gwinnett County) and I am 25.
I started this journey with wanting the Lapband (silly me). After reading about all the complications and speaking with a dozen people who all somewhat regret their choice. I decided on the sleeve. I was sleeved in Mexico by Dr. Kelly-Ramos and my experience was great. I paid about $5300 total. I am married with a daughter (7 months) and I work in health care marketing (CDC).
I am very new in the process, so I don't have much input on the on the side effect (hair loss, skin, etc), but I am exicted. I am already from a dress sizw 24 to a 20 and down about 30 pounds since my pre-op. So I am happy!
Hope we all can encourage one another in the process. Nice to "meet" you ladies.

Nadia I'm 13 days post op. Mashed potatoes were added for me last week. Have you tried the sugar free popsicles? They help. I completely understand, I am so ready to chew something but we have to make sure that are stomachs can handle everything first.

    Hi Hector
Thanks for replying to my post.
Sounds like you have everything figured out with the help from your friend and surgeon. U are very fortunate to have a friend who is working at the same hospital where you are going to have your surgery. That's a extra plus . You have to do whats best for you. There's nothing wrong with having the gastric bypass surgery everyone situations different. Believe me I would not hesitate to do it if I needed it to save my life . Best of luck.

The very same thing happened to me. I went to meet with my surgeon for a consultation last month to talk about the sleeve . He asked me a lot of questions and one of the questions he asked me if I am having any acid reflux or heartburn ? I said yes once or twice a week . He said if I'm having Gerd I shouldn't have the sleeve because one of the side effects after having the sleeve is Gerd. The bypass is a better choice for people who have Gerd . So he said before we decided on what surgery is best for me , he wants me to have a 24hr PH test . I am scheduled to be tested in a couple of weeks. I don't want the gastric bypass surgery. So I decided to get a second opinion.

I had such thick hair before surgery that I would go have it thinned out at the salon. I'm 5 years out and to date, I still have super thin hair. My hair only grew back not even half as thick as it was. No matter what I bought, nioxin, horse and mane, Biotin, you name it, nothing helped. However, I still would rather have thinner hair than being unhappy and overweight.
