Karen's got a reaction from tasha_kelo in Got approved in week! Lacking Support
I have not told anyone but my one sister and that is only because she had it done so she is very supportive. I haven't even told my work. Told them I was having hernia surgery (which I am having that to) just don't need to be judged.

It seems like the best plan is to use measuring cups for Portion Control, and the scale for calorie counting.

Karen's reacted to julia454 in Pre-op diet starts tomorrow
I am Day five in my preop liquid only surgery January 24, The worst part about it for me is the headache, i've had a screaming headache since I started, i'm thinking it's due to withdraw from sugar! I am doing the Premier Protein premade drinks it comes in five flavors, I do five a day which brings me to 800 cal and 150 Protein little high in the protein but dietitian said it's OK, at the start of the morning I put the five drinks in my lunch bag and when it's time to have a shake I dig my hand into the bag without looking and I get a surprise flavor of drink!! Got to make some fun out of it!! It keeps me full throughout the day but I still crave food and want to eat!

Karen's reacted to cbonet in Who's over 50 crowd
I'm 57 and has the sleeve on 9/13. The first day was hard from the gas but walk, walk, walk. I was in the hospital overnight. By day 3 I was off pain meds. Its important to balance moving with resting, when you get home. Prepare by getting some Protein Shakes in the house, I got a Brita Water filter and sugar free ice pops. I use vitamin patches instead of pillows. A heating pad on my stomach helped if you have one and a pillow for the car. Be well.

I was sleeve two months ago at 62. Best thing I ever did for myself. I think as we are older we understand more it's so important we had this opertunity for our new life.

Karen's reacted to OKCPirate in Day 1...Liver Reduction
I can't tell you how helpful it is to your recovery to be really faithful. My surgeon thanked me because he had a very easy straight shot to my stomach. If I tried to wait to the last minute it would have made it tougher for him to get around the liver. I was out of surgery in 25 minutes. Less anesthesia made it much easier on me.
