    Hello to all
I hail to you from Philly and had my surgery at Jefferson Hospital. Their Bariatric program and staff are awesome. I am 6 weeks post sleeve. The journey has been rough but well worth it. This forum has been a blessing . Instead of calling the on call staff with questions I have been able to answer most just by reviewing some of the shared experiences. My family especially my husband has been my rock without him not sure how I could have done it. The negative reaction I have received has been from my neighbors and that is okay. I wish you well with your journey just remember who and why you are doing this. Everything will fall into place according to the plan. Listen to your doctor!

Each program is different. I received a huge informational book and a form indicating all the steps and time line. Unfortunately, no 2 programs are alike, especially when you factor in health insurance requirements.

The problem with "saying some nice" is people come on here and ask if they can eat XYZ when they really are not supposed to be. Surgeons vary with their programs but when someone says "my program tells me X but I don't want to do that" people aren't going to say "go ahead and eat whatever you want, it's fine". And they SHOULDN'T say that.
Eating something you shouldn't too early can cause all kinds of problems, serious problems. It isn't just "oh, you might not lose weight if you eat that". Pushing your stomach to digest something when it isn't ready to do so can cause a leak. A leak can put you back in the hospital for weeks. It can be life threatening.
I visited several different surgeons before deciding who to have surgery with. They ALL said the ONLY times they have ever had people readmitted with a leak was when the person went home and did not follow the post-op eating instructions they have been given.
That being said, I gave good advice. Anyone who wants to go out to eat should look at the menu and plan before they go. Otherwise you are going to be sitting there asking for quick advice from strangers on some chat forum.

Oh come on ALL. We are all in the same boat some just jumping into the Water earlier than others. That doesn't make anybody any different here. We ALL surgically altered our bodies to feel better about ourselves. Like your momma said" IF YOU DONT HAVE. ANYTHING NICE TO SAY than JUST Eat YOUR PROTIEN"

LuvyDee reacted to LipstickLady in It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**
When I was teaching, I circled wrong test answers in RED (gasp) and offered help finding the solutions. I didn't grade on a curve nor did I tell them their math work was "good enough this time". I also did not tell them that they could ignore all the formulas and just pray their answer would turn out ok, and yes, I absolutely made them show their work.
    Why?
Because not only did I want them to pass MY math class, but I wanted them to have an awesome, STRONG foundation on which to base all their math classes to follow.
    Weird, right?

Can I ask you this, Do you believe in God? The reason I said this because I was you, our story sounds the same except my son passed 2months before his second birthday. I was so afraid of having this surgery, I too said what if I die, I too love food, I too suffered with high blood, diabetes and arthritis in my knees, but ,I never ever had surgery a day in my life , never been put to sleep, heck I never broken a bone, so imagine how I was feeling, just like you. But when I stepped out and allowed God to step in and trust him fully with my life my worries begin to fade away. I can say I never gave fear a second thought on that operating table on September 14, 2016 yes last month I had the RNY surgery. Think of your health , have strength and put your power into play , fear not. You just put it all in Gods hands . you will do just fine

I have UH in georgia. @@sammy246 is correct. Uh also required a 6 month supervised weight program, with monthly nutrition appointments, psych evaluation, and Fitness evaluation. Mine did not indicate any required weight loss, but they do want to see you are losing weight and making an effort. Call your insurance company and ask if your plan covers bariatric procedures. Good luck to you!

I don't have advice, but I do pray that you are able to get the support and answers you need. Just know that you didn't come this far to let a few bad moments sabotage the rest of your life.
I truly respect and understand that your emotions and background is totally different than mine, but what I have found helpful is writing in my diary. I list all my challenges and my goals. Then I write a letter to my "selves" ... the good side and the bad side. For me, it helps to put my thoughts on paper. This is something simple that may not work for everyone.
You will still have to find a way to get back on track. I know with family gatherings, it's hard. We took vacation to beach, I pack foods specifically for me so I wouldn't feel deprived.
Again, keep faith you yourself. Know that we all fail a time or two. Reach out to your support team and therapist, and develop a plan that will work for you.
    Many blessings!
