I was at 42 BMI and was told if I Dont loose 10%of my overall weight as a sign of good faith and intent I would not be approved. My doc didn't care but insurance would not pay so I lost the weigh and more. I am 2 weeks post op. I can tell you I have lost multi pound a gained it back and then some in the past. This is more permanent if you are dedicated and that's what team wanted to see. I have just been losing these days lol

    Insurance Says NO! BSCA

I accidentally went to a seminar for patient with BSCA and other insurance in another county only to find out they didn't take my insurance from my county. I could have had the surgery within 4month. However I had go through my PCP and get a referral to doc my insurance covered and jump through those hoops. Every step of the way has been worth it so far and took about 11months. I wanted to go to Florida first so I waited an extra 2 months lol.
  5. im with you girl had surgery same day as you i hope to go home today the cheap hospital robe rubbed my incision so its irritated but all is good glad to hear you are ok Sent from my LGLS740 using the BariatricPal App I had surgery the same day but my gas pain is no joke. 1400 calorie diet

You will get through it... We had to loose 10% of our weight before the insurance company would authorize payment. It was a sign of good faith and intention. Surgery is a tool not a cure all like I it went in thinking (like lipo or something like that) lol. I learned processed foods have no business in my house, let along in my body or kids. Also, I am a pretty awesome cook. Something I forgot after having a bunch of babies and letting my husband start cooking lol. Now I didn't give up food just food with no real purpose. You need to get ready to take in at least 60g+ of protein a day in a tiny tummy. I did have random cheat days but knew what the goal was. Oh and cheat day i mean BBQ =extra proteins lol. An example of my dinner before would be baked chicken breast Cup of broccoli with a bit of Italian dressing in it (kids live it) and only a couple spoonfuls of Rice o Roni (carb are bad). I gave up soda pop a while ago and I'm glad I did. I can only imagine what pain I'd be in if I drank it today. Breakfast heck I ate bacon and eggs (egg whites are less calories) and bacon but only 2-3strips not half the lbs like before. Yogurt and Greek yogurt were good for snack for lunch I had a bunch of light Progresso Soups and salad or sandwiches. Keep in mind some of the store bought salads can have as many calories as Burger so watch the calorie content. You're better off making it yourself and can probably do it better and dress it up by throwing your own grilled chicken or steak from the night before....I'd Google some 1400cal diet recipes and go from there. You got this

    Nervous about psych eval

In my support group their were ex cons, ex drug abusers folk with bi polar and other depressions, so don't fret. Just be honest. They just want to know if you are stable enough to have a healthy outcome. If you have any underlying issues how have you or will you cope. I was super nervous too lol
  8. LoL I was walking around in the recovery room and up the same day. I didn't like the push button pain meds despite some pain. Day 2 I was released and shopping for nail polish... 7days, 4 kids and 10lbs down I'm just on an indoor vacation watching Netflix and catching up on sleep... I might be constipated though haven't gone in a couple days but then again I haven't really eaten anything.

    Liquid protein

My docs plan said to drink 4oz protein drinks 6x daily =about 24oz and in between that I was supposed to drinks 4-8oz of no calorie beverages crystal light, diet Snapple, broths, water etc. I feel fine a week out and have lost 10lbs so far but it is hard to wake up at 8am and take in all the recommended fluids by 6pm. It takes me until about 9pm still. The time it takes is getting better as my stomach heals. I am on full fluids for another 2 weeks but I get to have yogurt cream soups and cream of wheat too so its okay lol Good luck!!!!

    Newbie Alert!

I'm new to the site too. I got sleeved on the 12th. I am at the docs now about so see if I have lost any weight. I threw out my scale last year and managed to loose 25lbs pre op from 237lbs and 5'0... I'm over the protein shakes I think I need to switch things up or something.
  11. I just got the sleeve last week but have you tried high protein like 120g less than 17g carb and lots of veggies a day?... My mom lost 60lbs in a reasonably short amount of time 5.5 months without any procedures and little exercise. Docs basically got me on the same diet but wants me to work out when I can tolerate it again.

    I'M SO HUNGRY!

I'm feeling both pain, official 7day out lol... I actually have been up making my kids breakfast, lunch and dinner for the last 3 days. When they eat, I drink my protein and daydream about the small plate I will have in just a few weeks time. I just think, if I eat now I can do some serious internal damage (SO I DON'T LOL).... It's actually helping me I think. When I tried to stay out the kitchen the cravings were worst for some reason. Knowing that food could be a worst addiction my Bariatric handbook said to let others cook from now on but I think that is 40% the reason I gained so much to begin with( husband cooks everything in grease with tortillas and rice 80% of the time. I need to exercise control now if I'm going to reap the benefits of this journey later. I used to eat while cooking and then eat the kids left over's with my husband. No more of that. This is practice lol... I'm not going to lie, today I was daydreaming about having a BBQ lol I wasn't even hungry. Just thinking the way I have been for years(about food). This is new territory not eating every time I think about food... I'm going to embrace this new self control.
  13. Prayers and all the best on you journey:)

    having a hard time..

Hey George, I had my surgery the same day. Just think there are brighter days after the storm:). Splinting is good, it is very good. I believe a very common side affect of antibiotics is diarrhea. You're lucky you get to go I haven't gone in 3 days lol... I still can't tell when I'm hungry, full or have gas sometime because the pain all feels the same. I hope all the best for you in your recovery. You got this!!!
