Vinasu got a reaction from shawnak911 in Gastric bypass versus Sleeve
I chose bypass because there was a lot more data on long-term success. Also, I figured I need to take Vitamins anyway, and it would encourage me to keep an eye on my health.

I wanted to dump to keep myself honest, but I don't.

I am very, very pleased with my choice and would do it again. That having been said, I'm no evangelist. Choose the surgery you feel is right for you.

What are your calories? I also do intermittent fasting, 16/8. I eat 3 times a day: lunch, snack, and dinner. However, I do think that the one most important thing is religiously tracking calories.

I count every calorie. Letting my body tell me when to stop got me into this mess.

Yes, sometimes I'm still hungry. That's when I serve my Protein on a bed of spinach, riced cauliflower, or miracle noodles.

To lose weight, you must be consuming fewer calories than you are burning. Tracking calories helps me be certain of this.

I eat regular, home cooked meals with my family. I just skip the carbs. If we're having spaghetti, I pour sauce over miracle noodles for myself. Roast chicken and mashed potatoes? I just make mashed cauliflower for everyone.

I eat three meals a day, and my family eats the same. I just eat mindfully and eat less.

I'm really trying, but my super skinny husband weighs 145. I've still got a ways to go. He was 125 when we married, though. I've never weighed less...maybe next month.

Vinasu got a reaction from BgR72 in Day 2
For the first few days, my doctor had me drinking one ounce every fifteen minutes I was awake. By day 5, I was able to get all my liquids and Protein in with no problem.
Slow and steady wins this race.

I am 2 weeks post surgery today... I got up this morning and put on a shirt... and for the first time in years, I did not have to then pull, tug, and stretch it until it was comfortable enough to wear... it went on and I was like, whoa... this fits as is!! I've had to pull and stretch my shirts for so long... to put on a shirt and not have to do that felt amazing!!

Vinasu got a reaction from Alex Brecher in What Do You Think about Food Ads?
I am really concerned about the affect of food ads on kids. They really influence my kids, and I have to talk to them about nutrition on a regular basis.
I don't like ads, but that's business when targeting adults. I hate ads targeting kids, especially with junk. That is immoral.

I'm an hourglass as well. I shrank, but it's been proportionate. Believe me, I haven't heard any complaints.

To all the newly post op, please see Super Bowl Sunday for what it is...one afternoon. One afternoon that you tell yourself, no to booze and junk food. Your sleeve is for the Rest of Your Life (assuming you don't eff it up). Stop acting as though one afternoon is unbearable. Pre op, you most likely had a two week liquid diet; that was 14 days and you did it! Now you are 3, 4, or 5 weeks out and you can't handle one afternoon? The wants you are listing- alcohol, tortilla chips, and fried chicken- are what put us on the operating table to begin with. Why let one afternoon get you twisted? Stay the course now so you can be a success story later.

If it is something I adore that is only a size or two too big, I had it altered. I've found that much past that doesn't alter well, as the proportions are all off. I, like Vinasu, give my too large clothing to Dress for Success if it is professional, and to a local thrift store for casual items. Dress for Success is especially great, because at least here, they said they rarely get nice plus-size donations, so I love the idea that somewhere, a woman can get a professional career without feeling uncomfortable in too-tight garments. I try not to hold onto anything much, as I want to move forward and not look back. I DID, however, keep one pair of pants and one sweater from my largest size worn. When I need motivation, I try them on and they look like tents, now.

I took my nice work clothes to Dress for Success. They provide low income women with professional clothes for interviews and jobs. It can make a huge difference in a woman's life, and they always have an urgent need for plus-sized things. Giving away the pieces I loved was hard, but it was a lot easier giving them to a good cause. My dad bought me a wool toggle coat, 3x, before he died. It killed me to get rid of it, but I take comfort knowing it'll go to great use and may change a woman's life.
My favorite dress (a fancy Star Wars dress) I cut the top off of and put in a new waistband and cumberbund, so now I have a really cool skirt that fits.
My tees I am using as night shirts.
