If you had less to lose to begin with, you're going to slow down faster than most people, too. But do you know what your TDEE is? (Total daily energy expended.) You can estimate it online with a calculator, just google "TDEE calculator." That will tell you how many calories your body requires just to maintain your current weight.
Then you figure out how many calories you're consuming every day. Get the calorie counts of what you eat, by weight. Add all of that, along with the calories in the shakes. Anything you put in your stomach.
Then you subtract all of your calories in from your TDEE. That will tell you what your caloric deficit is.
After you know that, then consider that a pound of fat is 3,500 calories. Knowing that, divide it by your daily caloric deficit. For instance, if your daily caloric deficit is 1,000 calories, then the result is 3.5 - that's how many days it will theoretically take for you to burn one pound of fat. Then check your scale and see if that's jiving, over a series of weeks. I'd suggest four weeks to get a good sample, because the body loses fat on its own schedule, not Mon-Sun.
But with that math, you can see that the less of a caloric deficit you run, the less you're going to lose per day...and the less you need to lose, the lower your deficit will be.
An excellent way to increase your fat burning ability is by building muscle. Weight training! Muscle mass is what burns calories and increases your TDEE. Cardio is decent, but weight training is super efficient. And of course what others have said - water! Very important.

I am so depressed. I am not a whiner or crier but I've been so upset this past couple weeks. I think my surgery is broken. I was sleeved aug 25,2016. I immediately lost 16 lbs before September came. Then my September weight loss for the ENTIRE month was 11lbs!! ONLY 11lbs! Those 11 lbs were the first 3 weeks of sept because I haven't lost a pound for the last 2 weeks! Every day I step on the scale and cry again. I know I shouldn't weigh myself daily but I'm obsessed and cannot help it. I use GENEPRO and get my Protein in, but fluids are not up to par. I eat 3-4 times a day and no Snacks except a couple days I snacked on a piece of turkey Jerky but once the bag was gone, I haven't snacked at all. I don't know what to do. I'm so scared this won't work and I'm destin to be overweight. I was so excited to do this and read success stories and looked at pics. I had such high expectations. I expected to be 45 lbs down by now. I'm only half there so I feel like I'm failing. Can I hear from some slow losers that have long term results? I need reassurance badly!! Is there anyone this surgery just didn't work for? Come one, come all, I need to know what I'm dealing with. Love this site, it's so informative. I've gotten more advice and help through this site from anyone anywhere.

@@Dody143 You should call your surgeon to explain your symptoms. You may just have a stomach bug or something you ate didn't agree with you - but call your surgeon just in case. The way you described it - I was thinking gallbladder.

@ladydarkness I think maybe you should think about reframing the hair loss thing in your mind.
I feel your pain with Hair loss truly I do. As a breast cancer survivor I was bald for 2 years during cancer treatment. It was hell on my ego for a long time till my 8 year old told me i had a "really pretty round head". He made me LOL. That made the treatments worth it even more. So I'm thinking that if hair loss (again) is a price to be paid to be healthier and thinner for myself and my son and the future, damn the price, I'll pay it. love & peace!

What helped my hair the most was powdered marine collagen added to a bottle of Water. This helped cut my Hair loss in about half if not more. I also drink a cup of bamboo tea (high in silica) everyday and that has helped a lot too. It has made my hair softer, shiny and stronger and slowed down the loss also.
I tried Biotin, but for me it didn't work except for areas I really don't want extra hair- LOL.

My team says 15 minutes without drinking before eating is OK.
I don't see why quinoa would be a problem. Just Make sure you are getting your Protein on first

Yeah I always thought the no-drinking thing was just a recommendation....so I drank while eating once post-op....notice I said once...
As far as quinoa is concerned, you should always ask your surgeon/nut as they are most informed on your specifics, but I was permitted it after 2 weeks post-op when starting the "mushy" phase. The only thing i did was make sure it was well-cooked and soft.
    Best of luck!

Thanks all! I'm going to try a few other brands that were mentioned. My goal right now is 40 grams. If I could just choke down a shake, I would be there. I'll keep trying.

For me, overwhelming sleepiness comes on if I eat too much. Try cutting your meal sizes down (by half or a third) and see if that helps. Good luck!
