live2ride got a reaction from Raymia in Here we go! Sleeve Date 12/13
Day 1 of my 2 week pre-op diet! So far so good
I'm allowed 2 Protein Shakes, 1 Soup and 2 Snacks per day. Hoping I can fill up on Water and Decaf tea in between.
Anyone have suggestions or ideas that might make this easier, I'm open to hearing them.

Just in the first week of my pre-op diet I have lost 16lbs. and my fasting BS has gone from 119 (pre-diabetic) to 89 (normal). I am stoked!! The fatigue, dizziness, and diarrhea stopped around day 4 and I am just enjoying feeling so well. I kept away from everyone on Thanksgiving so that I wouldn't be tempted. Since I'm a widow and my kids are grown and out of the house, I'm sure it's been easier for me than for those of you who have to cook for your families. I gained 90% of this weight over the last 7 years since my husband was killed by a drunk driver. I've always struggled to keep weight off but when I lost him I went into such a horrible depression that all I did was eat and sleep. It's time to get my life back. I'm only 48 years old and I want to chase my grand babies! With this surgery as a tool and God's help, I know I can!
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

live2ride reacted to ereese310 in Hoping for a quick approval.....
I just finished my last appointment needed for insurance approval yesterday. The insurance coordinator told me my file would be sent off to insurance for approval today. She said my insurance is pretty good at getting back to them in a timely manner, hoping that is the case. I have been so stressed about this for the last 2 months it will be such a relief to finally get a surgery date and get things moving.... Fingers crossed these last few steps go smoothly!!!!!

live2ride reacted to KristenLe in FINALLY - I have a surgery date!
I just came from my pre-op appointment with the surgeon. I sat around in the waiting room for an hour after the appointment to try and get a surgery date but ended up leaving and got a call just now with a date of 10/18/16! Further out than I wanted BUT I'll take it - and it actually works better for work and gives me time to get my shit together. I found out that I actually need to do a 2 week liquid pre-op diet so that was something I didn't know about (thought I was one of the lucky ones). Pre-op liquid diet starts October 4th - 5 Meal Replacement shakes (Bariatric Fusion) and 3 Snacks (broth, sf popsicle, watermelon, sf jello). Yikes - I hope I can stay with it like I've been encouraging others to do! See if I can practice what I preach! October 6th is the 2 hour pre-op teaching class (recommend bringing my main support person with me). The surgeon did tell me that he doesn't usually do a Leak Test in the hospital (THANK YOU!!!) - which actually was one of the things I dreaded the most. He'll only do it if there appear to be issues. He recommended I come off my birth control pills just to reduce the risk of clots - even though we do 1 week of blood thinners post-op (stopped those today). We went over all of the risks, possible complications and signed the consent form. Looks like I'm almost ready...
So excited to finally have a date!!!!
Thank you all for putting up with me for the last 6 months!

live2ride reacted to Sajijoma in Today I am officially not "plus sized" what a colossal NSV for me!
I went shopping today because I desperately needed pants that fit. I wasn't sure what would fit so I tried on 16's and they were too big. Then I tried on 14's and they were kinda loose. I thought just for jiggles I'd try on some 12's and they fit! I was so shocked I actually broke down crying in the changing room. I have always been good at keeping my emotions locked down tight, but in there at that moment, I totally lost it and started bawling and LOUD. The changing room attendant knocked on the door and asked if I was ok. It took me awhile, but I managed to get the words out that I was ok and that I had found out I was a smaller size than I thought I was. I'M sure she thought I had lost my ever loving mind, but for me, this is a monumental thing. I had been an overweight kid and an obese adult, my entire life! The size I put on and zipped up, I NEVER had been that size. The closest I had to being that size was a size 11 juniors in 4th grade, so here I am, over 30yrs later and I am finally smaller than I was in 4th grade. It was monumental. I also discovered why it's important to check the price tag before falling in love with a pair of pants because $115 for a pair of pants I probably won't get more than a couple months wear out of was just too much, so I had to put them back. Broke my heart, but I did go on to find other 12's and some 14's that worked and I am officially not plus sized anymore. I can shop in the regular section with all the cute clothes!❤️ From 32/34 and some 36 down to a size 12 in less than a year...all I can say is wow! Thanks RNY for giving me a life I didn't know was attainable!

I had my surgery on June 7,2016 day of surgery weight was 235 starting weight was 252, today I'm at 196 and went from a size 20 to a size 13 !! I'm so excited , I have a lot more energy now, I haven't been in this size since I was 18. I still have ways to go to get to my goal weight, but I'm happy with how far I have come. It's been tough, but worth it.
