    Taking Communion

Thank you so much, everyone! I have always taken the bread, not the wafer, so I just didn't know what to expect. I have done so much research and really appreciate having this resource to help prepare me! It's exciting and scary all at the same time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hi everyone! I am still pre-op (about 4-6 weeks from surgery), but I've been wondering whether/how I will be able to take communion after surgery. My church (Methodist) offers communion by intinction, using bread or a gluten-free wafer and grape juice (communion is once a month). Is the gluten-free wafer ok once I'm on soft foods? Full foods? Never? I'm wondering what others have done. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ear Buds

What a great idea! I never gave that any thought. I presume the nurses and staff don't have a problem with that? (I'm still pre-op; looking at mid- to late September for surgery) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in education getting sleeved?

I'm a school bus driver and am on track to be ready for sleeve surgery around mid- to late September, but we start school on Aug. 17. My surgeon said typical recovery time is 2-4 weeks, but because I'm not allowed to return for half days I'm thinking my time off will be closer to 4 weeks (and I won't be able to drive a bus until the doctor clears me). I've been debating whether to use 4 weeks of sick time in September/October or wait until December to take advantage of two weeks off at Christmas. I have plenty of sick time (9 weeks) and I want to get started ASAP, but at the same time I would feel guilty taking a month or so off so early in the school year. Summer would have been ideal, of course, but the timing didn't work out that way. And I've met my deductible and coinsurance, so waiting until next summer definitely is not an option. Hi! I'm in the Columbus area. I'm still pre-op but it looks like I'll be having surgery around late September
