I too take anti-depressants and have been struggling. At times I cry and other times I'm angry. It does get better a bit each day. I find if I go for a walk or keep busy it's better. I live near a lake and find the Water and fresh air comforting. I hope you feel better

I use an app called loseit, I have a premium account. You can make recipes and set the servings and it does all the math for you.
Other than that you can do it all by hand or in excel.
What does your program say your portions should be at this point? It should give you an ounce goal

My Fitness Pal will also let you enter recipes and set serving size. When I make something, I determine how many servings it is by how many quarter cups I can fill.

SunshynrRN my suggestion is to enter each recipe into my fitness pal, that way you can exactly tract the calorie/protein etc....when I made the ricotta bake I placed it into a muffin tin that way it was portioned as exact as I could get it...hope that helps

I weighed and measured everything. It's amazing how quickly an ounce can grow to two when you eyeball it.

Be careful of the seeds in the eggplant. Today is my 1st day of pureed and my notes say no nuts or seeds.

One of the recipes provided by my practice is a no-tortilla burrito: refried Beans, taco sauce/smooth salsa and low-fat cheese microwaved and then topped with a teaspoon of sour cream.

When I was on the puréed stage, I puréed anything my family was eating but my favorite was meat loaf and mashed potatoes.
The eggplant I would purée it after cooking.
I'll see if I can find more

I've been liking the tuna or salmon pouches (about 2.5 oz) mixed with hummus, a little mustard, and a splash of jalapeño juice. It makes it moist and really soft.

My favorite thing was to take ricotta, garlic powder, spaghetti sauce, and mozzarella cheese and microwave it. Yum!

Just be careful on the ricotta bake - if the mozzarella gets too crusty and chewy - it can be an issue (well it was for me and a few others) for puree stage but is dang tasty for soft phase

What you have said completely resonates with me.....
I was overweight my whole life... tried and failed many many times to lose weight...
I grew up being the social outcast, never fit in, would constantly be the wall flower... had my guard so high up that i never allowed anyone to get close enough to me to form real friendships.
I made the decision to have lap band 8 years ago as i was constantly sick, and on the verge of developing diabetes..had PCOS, was acne ridden, hairy, had no self esteem and did not love myself at all.
i took the plunge and did it... and it was one of the best choices i made!
I lost all my weight, got to goal, completely reversed my insulin resistance and PCOS.
The most surprising side effect of losing weight is that i finally learned to love myself.
Not to say it was an easy road, i lost many friends, it changed me as a person, i no longer was a people pleaser, i stopped caring so much about how others viewed me, i subconsciously was selfish for a while.... and in time i gained my confidence, and that helped me get out of my shell... i made new friends, found new interests... and became the person i am today.
Fast forward a few years, my band failed and i had it removed... i gained a decent amount of weight... and all my self esteem, locking myself away and insulin resistance and pcos came back!
I stopped socialising, i started isolating myself, i lost my groove and could see myself falling back into old habits...
So, let me get to my point.... and answer your question... yes... wls can reverse your diabetes and bp... it has proven to be so for many people.... and you will find that it does not only benefit you physically, but mentally and psychologically....
As someone who has been on literally both ends of the scale, i can tell you that excess weight does not only affect you physically it affects you mentally as well.
You have taken the right steps in regard to your health.. and you are still early out... things get sooooo much easier with time... yes it takes some time to adjust to your new style of eating... but in time it becomes second nature...
Be kind to yourself and your body.. try not to be too hard on yourself... the improvements will happen in time... just understand that initially there is an adjustment period.
I really wish that all your health issues get resolved and i hope in the near future you can come back and say... that aussiegirl81... with all her rambling might be onto something.
Giving you lots of love and support... if you need anything we are here for you ????

Mine too - same day. Yes everything did taste yuk for a while. When you get hungry you start not caring. Water is lovely now, with or without flavoring, my chicken broth is lovely but mostly everything else is gross. I bought this very yummy Protein for your water on Amazon. Its Lemon Razzy by NutriWise and you put it in your water and it has 15 grams of protein. The pink lemonade has 17 grams. Its really helped me since I have not wanted anything. For your information...

Trust me...it really does get better! I had an INCREDIBLE amount of "buyers' remorse" at first, especially because I had the surgery on 9 December 2015, right before Christmas! My family was amazing and tried their best to not indulge in lots of my favourite holiday foods in front of me, but that didn't stop me from having a huge breakdown on Christmas day and crying for a solid hour or so (no exaggeration!).
As time has passed, things have become progressively easier. Yes, there are times that I want nothing more than to devour a plate of Pasta...but I know that it would make me sick (I can't really do things like Pasta, rice, and white potatoes very well...they tend to make me very ill) and that in the end, the temporary pleasure of eating it would fade. What has worked for me is focusing on the end result and all the things I *can* do now. Walking doesn't make me winded, I am never one of the largest people in the room, and I can walk into any store and purchase clothing because I am now a UK size 10 (which is a US size 6) . Those are only a few things I can think of, but in the end, the benefits have all outweighed the negatives. It's taken a few months for that to really sink in, and I do still have moments when I feel like crying because there is something I REALLY want to eat but I know it's not something that I eat anymore. The other day, I would have gone to the ends of the earth to have a cheeseburger on a bun with some fries! However, taking a deep breath and focusing on the positives that have come out of the surgery really helps me.
I can't promise that the journey is easy, because it's not going to be. However, it will get better! Focus on the positives and look towards the future. You can do this! *Gives a big hug*

I have bipolar disorder, and I used food as my comfort quite often, as well. What has really helped me is talking to my psychiatrist and therapist and starting to learn new coping skills that don't involve using food as a comfort or reward. It's really, really, really difficult and probably one of the hardest things I think any of us have to do...but as your mind starts to adjust bit by bit, it will gradually get better. We all got to this place because we used food as more than what it's meant for - fuel. I'm not saying that enjoying food is a bad thing or out of the question, it's just a matter of developing a new, healthier relationship with it.
Have you tried adult colouring books? They were recommended by my therapist, and they've been a big help! It's really soothing to sit and colour in some beautiful designs. You can get them at most bookstores and on Amazon
