It will be 2 yrs in Nov since my by-pass... the first six m9nths after the surgery my taste buds changed drastically! Everything tasted terrible..really strange. Little by little it came back.. but it was a good 6 months. Hang in there it’s well worth the inconveniences!

I think it's a little early to say you are stalling.... I did not have much movement for at Lars yet 2-3 weeks after surgery. Don't weigh yourself for a week or so & see what happens!

You are definitely in my prayers. Drinking Water is vital. Getting your Vitamins and needed Protein is as well. I know it is hard. And set backs are painful. I'm a little less than 3 weeks post op, and finally doing better. You can do it! Good luck! Enjoy your journey!

Hon most of what you are talking about is pretty well like it will be at first. If your puch hurts when you put anything in it PLEASE call your Surgeon!! It might be nothing but it could be Strictures that happen when you are healing. They explained it to me as it being like scar tissue closing of our pouch. (I think he said the Stoma) As far as your urine YOU HAVE GOT TO GET your fluids in!! It doesn't take long forus to become dehydrated. That is a true story and something you don't want!!! You are frusterated now and you don't feel great but trust your program if you do what your guidelines say too, I guarentee you will be ok and be very successful in your Journey. Now back to calling your DR. I know you are thinking that it is a Holiday week but your Dr has been paid a great wage and it will continue to cover everything that comes up!! It could be just harder due to your 1st week. Please take care and keep us posted on your journey.

It was about 2-3 weeks not long! Start walking immediately, at first just walk up & down your driveway a few times a day, every week walk a litter further, it really helps!

Not sure what ur Dr recommends but mayo required 2 weeks prior to surgery to go on Optifast liquid diet. It was cheaper for me to buy on E-Bay. I didn't like it but it did prepare me.
I didn't have any problems with the surgery, healed really well. The first 3 1/2 months was challenging... I absolutely did not like anything! I had to force down food. I had some bouts of vomiting. Then after 3 1/2 months it was like a light build turned on! Everything started working together. I'm so happy I had the surgery, I have lots of medical issues & now I feel human! Off BP meds! Only 10 lbs to go!
this is an excellent site to help you with your journey.

You are doing GREAT!!! I also had the RNY. July 2, 2013 within 6 months I lost down to 117#'s. Due to Strictures and being unable to eat or drink much at all. Lots of vomiting. YUK I did gain back 8#'s which put me at 125#'s. I have maintained my 124# loss for 3 and 1/2 years. Yes our surgeries are a TOOL!! My Nail lady almost lost me as a customer!! We got to talking about weight stuff, I told her I had the RNY and my sucess with it. She popped up and said I have lost 65#'s by doing it the real way, dieting and running!!~ I did get upset but I held my tongue that time!! At my next appointment again the weight thingy. I told her that it makes me mad when people say that I took the easy way out and NOONE knows unless they talk the walk!! I feel like shesure didn't mean it the way it came out. I am an adut and so is she, so we are in a good place now. BTW she understood why I said what I did. I could tell she had thought it over. Sometimes I just get defensive about how people percieve WLS. Again you've GOT THIS!!!

I had a sudden change in life when I decided, in one day, to go to Dr. Thomas and begin my journey for a Gastric Sleeve. I was excited and nervous and had no idea what I was getting into at the time. We discussed my options and decided on the Gastric Bypass to achieve my goals. I spoke to my wife and we watched hours of videos on surgeries and blogs, WebMD, etc. to learn about these procedures. None of the side effects were worse than not being able to play with my boys (10 and 12), mow the yard, be intimate with my wife, and just feel "normal" when going out.
On Feb 7th, 2017, I had my gastric sleeve. I was at 412 lbs., and was scared I would never wake up. I did, and then went through 3 days, as many of you have, in a lot of pain. I had two tubes hanging out of me and couldn't walk very far for about a week. Then, things got better, I got one tube out after the first week and didn't care I had only lost 3 lbs. lol.
After the first 4 weeks, the feeding tube was removed and I was able to begin taking longer walks with the wife. we started at a 1/4 mile and it was hard for me. By the end of that 2nd month, we were walking 2 miles a day, 4 times a week. (which we still do today).
I am almost 5 months post-op and I am down 115 lbs. We just spent 4 days in Gatlinburg, TN in the mountains and we walked and played laser tag, rode coasters, and did things I would never have done 5 months before. I am just over halfway to my goal, but my life has already changed so much. I am so thankful to those who have helped me and continue to be my support team through this process, especially my wife and kids, who help make my meals, try new foods and exercises with me, and amaze me everyday with their support and love.

I mixed my Protein powder (I bought vanilla & chocolate powder) with different flavorings & vanilla Beans. I also used a couple of tablespoons of sugar free instant pudding. Also used low fat milk instead of Water to get the extra protein. Experiment, you will find something you like!
I also had family members who tried to discourage me, YOU do what's best for you!
