    Still hungry

I'm just over three months post op, and I'd asked my nutritionist the same question--should I be eating every two hours, because it's happening no matter how much Protein I manage to eat at a meal. Logically, when you can only eat 1/4 cup of food at a time, of course it won't last long. I'm now up to about 1/2 cup for MEALS--measured protein, a little side of veggies. Her response was that it's okay to have Snacks that are almost (ALMOST) the same size as meals--1/4 cup of protein-based snacks in between meals will not hurt, and it's almost required to get your protein in through the day. cheese, nuts, yogurt, beef jerky--as snacks, they satisfy and add to my protein count. From what she said, I think this levels out around six months--at that point, you can usually expect to eat more at a meal (up to a cup) which will last longer and cut the need for snacks. Of course, every person (and probably every nutritionist) is different, but hopefully this helps. I know if I sit around and think about being hungry, I'll snack on things I shouldn't (post above is spot on) and it won't benefit me at all. Good luck!

    Eating after surgery

Same surgery day here, but my diet for a week after was ONLY Clear liquids...yogurt and Protein drinks don't start until 7 days out (today). My doctor told me he didn't care about protein until at least 5 days out because of the almost guaranteed nausea. I had my first added Protein powder on Monday and got about 20g that day and 20 the next. Now that the first week is up, I can add yogurt and other non-clear liquids. Obviously it's too late for this info now, but I think what you experienced was normal given you were allowed to have those other fooda. Maybe take a day or two to just focus on clear to see is you can settle things down, and possibly talk to your NUT.

    Any June sleevers out there?

Mine is the 29th and I'm in the same mental state. I guess it's normal but still...
  5. Surgery scheduled for 29th. Excited and scared. I found a few old journals when cleaning out a cabinet. Reading them again, I realized that it's been 30 years of fighting this weight--lose 20 pounds, put it right back on, lose 30, gain it back, etc. Made me angry and sad--what a waste of time and energy, when I could be living the life I really want. When I told my husband, he just calmly looked at me and asked, "So are you ready to win the fight?" We started serious research, and now I'm a couple of weeks away. I've watched my mom struggle to walk, breathe, and get comfortable. I refuse that future. So let's get this done.
