Dr. Philip Rosett - Waiting for a date..

I had my surgery at Mercy, and I tell you, you will be sorry later. The aftercare and follow-up is horrible. You will find that you are just a number, and if you are a public aid patient, you will only get appointments once a month. They do fills in small increments instead of how restricted you are because they only get paid for one visit a month through public aid. I would go to the University, because once you have your surgery somewhere, other surgeons will not take you on as a patient because they consider it a liability. They don't want to take on someone else's surgery patient and rightfully so. Mercy has been the worst experience in the Chicagoland area that I have heard of. Some won't speak of it because of fear that the clinic will drop them. Good luck and prayers.
  3. Thank you so much. I got a hold of him at Olympia Fields hospital. He does not accept public aid medicaid there. I here it depends on the hospital so I'll try him there. Thanks again...Hope you're having much success...

  4. Dr Shayani is now at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. I believe he will see patients that have had surgery in other hospitals. The number there is 630-312-BAND. Good luck.

  5. Hi Liz, Condolences for your loss...If you are having trouble getting through to the clinic, simply call Erin (the dietitian). She is great, always returns her calls and pages and always willing to help if she can. She will call them and make an appointment for you (although this is not her job, that's why I say she's the best). I haven't had any encounter with anyone else there who really gives a hoot!! Don't bother trying to deal with the new director Linda. She is no help and her attitude and demeanor leaves alot to be desired. I went that route and OH-MY-GOD!!! LOL If it is convenient for you to continue at Mercy, don't change. It just takes a little elbow grease with them. (I know, the SUCK) If not, UIC does fills and they will also take public aid if you don't have insurance. They will need a copy of your surgical notes from Mercy and they usually get you an appointment within a week. The thing with UIC (difference from Mercy) is that even with an appointment, you end up waiting almost all day. They take people on a first come first serve basis so if your appointment is at 12, you still want to be there at opening on your appointment day, I don't understand why they do it this way. Mercy, you are in and out with an appointment or not. Good luck, keep me posted. When did you have your surgery?

  6. Hi I was banded at Mercy Hospital I only had 2 fills have not been pleased was going to have my 3rd been trying to make appointment no return calls I stop calling because my mom died in July. Started calling two weeks ago no return calls I am also in search of a fill doctor in chicago. Mercy has really disappointed me I would not recommend them. Maybe we can help each other I need a good doctor on the south side of chicago.

    Blessings

    Chewing Gum

Chewing encourages stomach acids that break down the food in your stomach quicker to make room for what it thinks is coming. In sort, chewing gum makes the stomach think something is coming and you will be hungry sooner than you would if you don't chew. The stomach acids attempts to digest the food that is there to allow room for what the brain is telling it is coming. Even though nothing is coming, the stomach and brain only knows that you are chewing and sends signals that something is coming in. (hope this makes sense).

    Fill Doctors in Chicagoland Area....

Thanks, but I want to leave the Mercy program. I don't want to discourage you, but their program is not for me.

    Chicagoland area bandsters........

I know I'm late on this post, I'm a newbie and came across and was wondering if you got anyone to partake, I am interested...
  11. :sad:Hi Everyone!! I live in Chicago and am looking for a follow-up and fill doctor that accepts medicaid (public aid). Does anyone know of any good doctors in my area that do? Do you know of any inexpensive fill centers? I had the surgery at Mercy hospital in February of this year. I have had one fill of 4cc's in a 8cc standard band and can still eat almost as much as before (although I don't understand why because I have had a fill). I am loosing about 1 pound a week, but I am working out 1 hour a day, 6 days a week and starving myself so that I wont overeat in an effort to drop the weight. I need a doctor who is ALOT more aggressive and doesn't judge their patients as a group. Everyone in my group is having the same issues with the program, we need fills. The doctors at Mercy need the "numbers" to keep their program going and I think this may be why the doctors are not as aggressive about the adjustments so that we will have to keep coming back. I dont really know what is going on. I don't want to become discouraged, I'm so hungry all the time. Please help.... You guys are really great here, love ya....

    Cheating

:wub:Hi family, My question is, has anybody ever cheated on the post-op liquid or mushies diet and if so what happened? I was banded 2/14 (almost a week ago and I feel great) and was told to do liquids for two weeks. I really don't have that great of an appetite but my stomach keeps making this acid and the liquids just isn't doing it for me. Every now and then during the day, I'd eat a small slice of meat and chew it until it is almost nothing then swallow just to settle my stomach. It does help, but I don't want to mess anything up either. What could happen if I cheat now, I was told that the pathway to the "larger" stomach could get clogged, but if I chew the small portion to past mush or even blend something with lots of Water, could I be okay? The only pain I'm having now is this acid or gas in my STOMACH. (The other gas is gone.) I don't know if I can make it through these weeks. Thanks.
