  1. Thoughts?

    Yes...

    A few...

No idea if they'll be any help to you because I have no idea what you're asking...

    Anyway, here they are...

    - Good for you. You've been working hard and deserve the break.

    - I hope your first session goes well.

    - I'm no doctor of adding and stuff, but six months from now IS early December so I think that may work out nicely.

    - I was going to ask about your but couldn't decide what I wanted to know

    So there you have it...

They're the main thoughts I had when I read your post...

Not sure if they'll help but they're definitely thoughts...

Good luck to you - and enjoy your cruise!!!

Lol. It was a little vague huh! I am hoping for no issues that would affect the cruise. I am pretty healthy and in fact do boot camp.....so hoping for quick healing which I am prone to and have had many surgeries.

  2. I've been weighing myself once/month since having RNY. I made a conscious decision to do this so I wouldn't obsess over the scale. It's been working well for me and I actually look forward to my monthly weigh in.

I'd like to know how often you weigh yourself, and why. I've been reading about stalls and how they last for days to weeks. I haven't noticed this with monthly weigh in's. Wondering if I should pay more attention to this. I'm 6 months post RNY.

That was the one thing that discouraged me with weight watchers. Even though it was about the whole person approach, and I LOVED that, the final JUDGMENT was the scale. I would have a spot on week and have a gain. Other weeks I would halfway track and exercise AT it and lose 3 lbs. I have got to look beyond the scale and look at health numbers like blood pressure and cholesterol numbers and see clothes fitting differently. Once I see that, the scale won't have as much control.

  3. I have had this trip planned and paid for since January and I am not gonna miss it. BUT....with my insurance requirements I have to do 6 months of bariatric counseling. First session is today. HOPING to fast track it so early December surgery. The reason I am pushing for pre trip is my company's business is much slower so my sales impact is minimal plus the out of pocket for me this year will be minimal! Thoughts?

  4. I have always been fat, hitting 275 in highschool. In college I lost a lot of weight. Simple calorie counting. I yoyoed a little but managed to be between 220 and 250. Especially as I started Drinking. It was going great until I started taking Phentermine. Which I wish I was exaggerating when I say I am lucky to have survived what that doctor did to me. Since college I have gotten back on track. It took many years to recover emotionally to the effects of the different medications also I have been alcohol free for 2 years. Cig free for 4. Managed with the help of a Pavlok Bracelet to ditch sugar. (hypoglycemic, I crave that stuff bad)

A year ago I was in California, doing crossfit, and paleo. got back down to 240ish. Walking 8 miles with my dog in the summer on weekends.. Moved back home with the folks away from that healthy lifestyle. Took a job at an abusive startup, quit and been doing freelancing.. and a year later now I am at 275 again. At the least I can deadlift 350 lbs, unlike me in highschool, but I am at the same 40 in waist line. I went from doing workouts like FRAN to now having a hard time with a mild hike. Sad. I even had a chart. I never missed a week, and on average I did 3.4 sessions per week over 8 months. About 115 sessions in a chain.

I was looking at POSE but that is not in the US. (6 years and counting... oh FDA). The balloon in the stomach looks interesting, but I don't need a short term solution. The rest looks scary as ****. I have no interest in having half my stomach cut out. I just need help eating less. I am also not interested in anything that would cut my caloric intake to under 1400 a day. I believe doing so will only irreversibly damage your metabolism. Not to mention kill me in the gym. I guess my only option is to get the balloon as a jump start and stop making escuses to why I cannot be what I was just 18 months ago.

I like the thought of the balloon too but that is only designed for small amounts of weight. I am pursuing the sleeve add that seems to make the most sense with much less risk. Everyone I have talked to that had had it day they wish they had done it sooner. Don't let life pass you by being miserable. I am 54 and ready to live another 50 post op.

  5. I've seen those gladiator workouts going on at a local park and have been curious but too shy to try.

How far out from surgery are you?

I am hoping for December but really gonna have to push them. Cruise the end of January so tight time frame. What part of the country are you in? I love Camp Gladiator! Don't be shy to go. It is truly a family and all skillets are welcome.

  6. Hi,

    When was your surgery?

You should take it very easy. No intense workout at least for 8 weeks after surgery. This was the recommendation from my surgeon. If you are aiming at 900 calories burnt in one session, it will be very intense. You really need to check with your medical team if you can do that. And yes, you will be exhausted. I am 11 weeks out, east 1200-1300 calories per day and I worked out harder this week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)... Yesterday evening I fell asleep at 9 PM, which never happens to me. I woke up this morning completely sore and exhausted. Bottom line, I skipped the gym and now I am mad at myself for pushing too hard. Getting back in shape is a slow and long process. Take your time.

Oh....no surgery yet. I am just starting the counseling now. Hopefully December
