  1. Ok. Got a concerning message from my dr. The endoscopy shows signs of previous barrett's syndrome which, if confirmed, will a eliminate my option for the sleeve and only allow a Gastric bypass. That is my LEAST favorite option. Have any of you experienced that? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance Approval Jitters

Here's my question. I have UMR which follows UHC guidelines but when I set my second nutrition counseling I asked how soon we could set next one. Get words were not any sooner than 28 days. I started counting and that gets me complete end of September. Sooooooo I am asking if we can submit once that last session is done! Any experience from anyone with that? How severe was your hair loss?

I am still pre surgery but my dr told me to make sure I get the Minimum Protein for a women of 80-100 gms per day and the hair won't be an issue. I have also seen people tell they took Biotin as well. Hope that helps. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Gastric Bypass vs. Gastric Sleeve

True. Just was so much more at ease at the thought of the sleeve. Still isn't completely or if the question but I need to mentally prepare for this just in case. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have been following and posting in presurgery for sleeve but learned today that due to the evidence of pre barrett's syndrome that I may automatically have to have the gastric bypass. Have any of you had this happen? I am kinda bummed as I was hoping for the sleeve. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Gastric Bypass vs. Gastric Sleeve

I have been mentally preparing for the sleeve and learned today I might have to have the bypass due to the presence of pre barrett's syndrome negating the sleeve as an option. Sorta bummed....but it is what it is. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

So did you ever consider the sleeve or wad this or your doctor's choice? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  9. I started a few days ago of trying to drop my caloric intake down to 1500 on non workout days and alter Protein and carb macros percentages on MFP and it is tough. I was literally hurting I was so hungry last night and ended up just going to bed and tried to get to sleep as soon as possible. I know once I have the sleeve it will happen but I really can't imagine being at 1200 and mostly liquid two weeks prior to surgery. And earliest surgery would be 1st to 2nd week of December! WOW! On an upside, I REALLY like the Advocare Meal Replacement shakes and that is helping get the protein percentage up and seems to really stick with me in the mornings. 10. I have had SEVERAL surgeries and never experienced this though. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Yeah, I agree with the comment above. Rapid weight loss plus the drastic decrease in nutrition all factor into the hair loss equation. And trust me, I'm just as freaked out. I have super fine hair, and I'm worried out about losing large amounts. Hair loss usually happens about 3-4 months after WLS surgery, and depending on how bad it is, I may invest in a wig. Ramping down calories

It is getting easier.... but my concern now is getting below the recommended Bmi to have surgery and then being told no. I do a boot camp so, at age 54, at 1500 calories a day and working out, c sure, I may can make it.....but at some point my body won't let me work out like this and I will be in the same boat again...... 13. I wouldn't count on that. But don't let a little bit of hair loss stop you from having life-bettering surgery.Nope! Not at all. I will start Biotin ahead of time to make sure. VERY vain about my hair! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  14. My surgeon told me that as long as I get the Protein in, the hair thinning won't happen. I am set for early December. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Meal replacement shakes

I actually do Camp Gladiator boot camp so I am a little concerned post surgery and post lifetime of getting enough to eat with the amount of exertion I put out 3-4 times a week. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Well then, yeah, that many carbs may be just the ticket for you since you are burning them off. But for a lot of more sedentary WLS patients, including myself, (I usually log 12,000 - 20,000 steps/day but no gym time) it might not be the best choice. Good luck with everything! Thanks! Yeah, my highest calorie burn in 60 mins was 1127. Gotta fuel that for sure! Lol Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Meal replacement shakes

Okay, I have tried 3 flavors of the Advocare Meal Replacement shakes and they are awesome. 22-24 grams of Protein so need to build that up. So, I have ordered a sample of the unflavored Doc Hale whey Protein powder to see what I can do to keep drinking that and increase at the same time. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
