offthebandwagon reacted to Steven1954 in my surgeon treating lap band removal and rny revision like separate cases?
I had my band removed 2/29/16 after 8 yrs. like most of you lots of damage. Oxford orig denied stage two but had to be convinced to approve by external appeal. They expected me to regain 100 lbs to qualify. However that being said it is better to have two surg The first to take out band and repair damage which might be substantial. And the second stage after healing for RNY. I'm still deciding on whether to go through stage two

I am having my lap band removed on July 11, 2016. I've had it since October 2007, I lost 40 lbs but had some issues and it was completely unfilled 4 years ago. My surgeon is also doing my conversion to RNY separately at a yet to be determined date. In order to let my stomach heal as the area they make the pouch is in the same area the lap band sits. I know 2 other co workers had this done. Good luck!

I never thought it'd happen but it has.
I'm in love with exercising. And I need it daily for my mental health more than I need it for my body.
I'm blowing my own mind lately - because I actually look forward to running. What??
I have found Sons of Anarchy and save it for treadmill time. This dynamic combination has allowed me to push myself resulting in conquering 4 miles running straight. Not fast or pretty...but running for 55 minutes straight is nothing I ever thought I would be able to do or want to do.
Thank GOD for my RNY. Seriously, I'm so very blessed to have had the opportunity to have this surgery...and have had the courage to do it.
Tomorrow is my 1 year Surger-versary. I'm celebrating with a run.

Some people have doctors that tell them no Protein for a month or no Protein shakes at all. As surgery is becoming more popular, and there are more quack doctors out there. Expect more dumb questions.
Even if the questions are annoying, it is better people ask than suffer alone.

@@vita428, thanks so much for your input. My insurance will cover a revision if deemed medically neccasary. We shall see what happens Iguess.

I had removal and bypass same surgery. Insurance would cover removal if I did it by its own. My band slipped. Even if I waited Yeats they refused to cover RNY. So, I was self pay. I did same visit BC I only get three weeks off per year (they are set ) and price difference was 3000. Got to live insurance but I needed band out due to slip. I was ticking time bomb so to speak. If insurance covers both due it in two surgeries, heard its more effective. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App
