It took me until about 11 days out to stop wishing I hadn't done it. Surgery is rough. Each day will slowly get better.

I do!!! Like a real, live in paper degree! Eight plus years worth of it!!!! From a real university!
And guess what? @@LipstickLady has NEVER given out medical advise, she has ONLY spoken of her OWN experience and people like you do nothing but flame and cause issues.
So, if this is how YOU treat any actual patients in your care, with this negative, nasty attitude, please let me know where you practice so I make certain I do not refer anyone your way going forward.
I believe it is time for YOU to move along.

I went before my extremely obese husband because he was terrified. The surgeon recommended a two week difference due to the possibility of a problem. YES, it happened. My husband spent 4 days in the hospital with a problem. My husband is my priority. Not sure he would have done it if I had not gone first. I count my blessings I was allowed to go first and take care of my most precious asset.

I think you have two 3 year-olds to take care of; one you are married to. I'm picturing a pissed off stamped foot with folded arms across the chest.
Really? She can't wait a freaking month? And how is any of this your fault? My surgery was postponed three times -- none of which were as a result of anything I did or wanted, all because of the doctor/insurance scenarios.
Her insecurities are already out of control, IMO. She's going to be totally freaked out as you lose weight. IDK, I'd totally go through with the surgery, but get a therapist on speed dial. This is going to be a bumpy ride.

I had my surgery 17 days ago, and my wife's surgery is scheduled to be in 4 days. At first I was bummed out that our surgeries weren't closer together. Now I'm feeling panicked that we were scheduled only 21 days apart. I'm still healing and need her help around the house. Come Wednesday I'm going to have to be the one in good enough health to do it all while she recovers. I wish I had a bit more time. I can't even imagine trying to have surgery done within days of each other.
I am a little dumbfounded by the way your partner is behaving. I'm in complete agreement with high functioning fat man. How is she going to react when you need her help walking around? How is she going to react when you're down 30 pounds and she's still waiting on surgery approval? She should have your back 110%. I would have been happy and supportive if my wife had surgery a month before me. Just as my wife has been a rockstar for me the past few weeks. If she's reacting so badly in anger now, how will her anger be then?

How is she going to feel when you lose 3 pounds one week and she "only" loses 1? Will you not be doing this "together" at that point? It sounds like the relationship has bigger issues than wls...

You didn't "cheat", you made a choice. Your choice was pretty dangerous, too. You won't stretch your stomach, but you could rupture it, create a leak, or cause an infection if you continue to make bad choices like the one you described.

No judgement, it's your body. I just hope you fully understand the trauma your body just went through before you continue to make potentially dangerous decisions. Fried, breaded chicken? Is that where you really want to go less than two weeks out from surgery?

Honestly, it's why I have just not been active. There are so many people who are attention whores, drama king/queen, or outright arseholes that I just don't feel the need to help anyone. I'd go as far as saying that I actually want some of these people to fail very publicly.
The blatantly stupid post and questions often have me scratching my head. There is no way they could have had the surgery and not been told some of these things. More likely they were just sitting in the office daydreaming about ways to eat around the surgery before ever having it.
The only thing keeping me here is the Guy's Room. I don't know any men that have had gastric surgery and this is the only place that I can ask IF I eventually have a question I can't get answered on my own or from my surgeon.
Don't try and save anyone @@LipstickLady, most likely they aren't worth the effort.

We have all these newbies coming in with questions/statements that make me wonder if they ever sat down with a NUT, their surgeon or if they were given any type of pre-op training.

Is it OK to eat pizza/tacos/fried chicken? Is ice cream soft? How about milk shakes? I ate swedish fish/noodles/rice a few days post op. I am eating french fries and chicken nuggets, but it's ok because I'm ok so everyone else will be too. I want it so I ate it and I am going to get mad an anyone and everyone who tells me it wasn't a good idea.

Anyone who disagrees is mean, rude, sarcastic, judgmental, non supportive, a bully, horrible, rotten, a monster. I get that this backlash is a defense mechanism because they know deep down that they are wrong but it still sucks to watch this downward spiral that is happening here.

It's not great advice to chew and spit. It's not great advice to move along with your food stages because (you think) your body is telling you that it's OK. (Your body does NOT know best or you wouldn't be in this spot in the first place.)
Vets should leave because all the above advice and pandering and coddling is MUCH better than real, honest, truthful, experienced answers.

It's a freaking $h!tstorm out there the last few weeks. Seriously.

This isn't Weight Watchers. It's major surgery. The post op diet isn't a suggestion. It's mandatory for your health and well being. Do you know what a leak is?
I really wish some of these surgeons would read these forums. The would think twice about who they would operate on.

It's interesting how easy it is to identify the people that are likely to be the WLS cautionary tale of the person who only lost 40 pounds after surgery and then regained it plus 20 more six months later, and say WLS "didn't work for me."
Wash that fried chicken down with some Coke, and then when your stomach has a little room, have a cookie. You got this.

So let me get all this straight. You ate a piece of FRIED chicken at eight weeks out and thought it was important enough of an event to post it. And not on your FB or your Insta, but on a WLS support board where many (most?) of us are here to support a healthier life style and encourage excellent choices pre op and absolutely during the healing/losing stages post op.
FRIED chicken made you vomit, people shared similar stories and gave you extremely valid advice to avoid FRIED, CARBY, FATTY foods like FRIED chicken (that YOU posted/ate/vomited for no clear reason at EIGHT WEEKS post op) and YOU are calling everyone else an "assh0le" and a "troll"!?!?!
Are you even reading what you're writing?
And wait. You decided to alter your body physically and permanently when really, you did not have real weight loss issues or co-morbidities in the first place?
AHHHHHHHHH!!! Yes. It all makes TOTAL sense.

First and foremost, The comments above were not harsh.
Second, you don't know why everyone had this surgery.
Third, I don't hate food at all. I don't care for Pasta anymore because it makes me feel like crap. Should I pretend to love it to make you feel better about wanting to eat it? Because that's unlikely, I'm a hypocrite? Seriously?
If Pasta is on your plan, eat it. If it's not on your plan and you still want to eat it, have at it. While you are enjoying your bowl of pasta goodness, try to evaluate why are you being ugly to those who are giving you nutritionally sound post-WLS advice. You asked, they answered. You were clearly hoping for a different answer, and that's fine, but it's poor behavior to lash out at those who chose to answer responsibly.

Has everyone here gone insane?? Is there a full moon that I don't know about? The posts this week are nuts. Unless I don't know what I'm doing, I went back through OP's posts and didn't find a single post from anyone else to warrant such a reaction. Is it a threat against future comments? The best way to insure turning people against you and getting never ending snarky comments is to threaten and fat shame here. I feel like the site has been taken over and we're all being punked. Threats, fat shaming, ice cream cake while on Clear liquids, eating swedish fish, because . . . you know . . . they're soft and you're hungry. I really can't take it anymore and don't know why I waste my time reading this site. I'm being punked, right???
