Capri3Js got a reaction from BeautifulSharifah in Medicare approval/denial
I have medicare and medicaid and they require a six month educational class. But after you get approved very fast. I finished my class May 13 and had my surgery date two days later. Went sign my surgery consent forms on the 25th and started my two week liquid diet. So June 7th is my date

Your protein intake is really set on different levels for different people I guess. Bcus my doctor and dietitian told me that 90 grams of protein is too much for me pre op. Now post op it is fine Bcus our body changes for life then.Your protein intake is really set on different levels for different people I guess. I'm glad you posted this Bcus my monthly reminder will be down the day of my surgery as well. I suffer with bad cramps as well. Wondering what to take or wait it out. But hopefully it won't be as bad

Capri3Js reacted to imadethelist in To the pasta lover who is afraid to have surgery
So I haven't been on here in a really long time. I count that as a sign that I'm doing great! I'm going to try to log on more often to help others where I can.
I'm getting close to 2 yrs post VSG, I'm down 130 lbs, and well past my original goal. I too was a Pasta addict, carb junkie, pizza eating, overweight women. It's probably why I'm 2 yrs out instead of 5 years out. It stopped me from moving forward with this change many times. Thinking "would I have to live without pasta?" I'm Italian so the thought of never having pasta again, was kind of like imagining never breathing again - ok that sounds so funny to me now.
Pasta
Yes eventually you can eat pasta. But funny enough if you're anything like me, you won't really want to. I do eat pasta on rare occasions, in much smaller portions of course. Yes it still tastes good, but because I took total advantage of my VSG procedure and worked really hard to establish new healthy high Protein eating habits, I generally feel like crap after eating it. Not sick, I don't ever get sick, I just feel like garbage. So I don't want it like I used to. It's so empowering!!!
Pizza
I still love pizza, but I've found great low carb, high protein ways to make my own! (Think low carb tortilla pizza or portobello mushroom pizza). And yes on rare occasions my husband and I go out for our favorite pizza. Every time we laugh about how after 1 piece I'm totally satisfied, when I used to polish off an entire medium pie by myself.
So pasta lover, carb junkie, or pizza fan. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! The fantastic new healthy life that is ahead of you is soooo worth it! My only regret is waiting so long. I've never been happier or prouder of myself! You can do it too!

Capri3Js reacted to KindaFamiliar in Two week liquid diet
Generally speaking, the pre-op diest is NOT about losing weight...
It's about getting rid of the fat that has collected around your liver...
I'm sure someone else can expand on this (or correct me if I'm wrong)...
The surgeon needs to get in there and the fatty liver bits can screw things around...
Chances are, you're doing NOTHING wrong..
Just keep at it...
Don't let the perception of no loss get inside your head..

Capri3Js reacted to Dub in Two week liquid diet
3-4 pre mixed Protein shakes (Premier Protein & Pure Protein) per day was my pre op diet. There was simply no way that I couldn't lose weight during this time. It was guaranteed.

Capri3Js reacted to WLSResources/ClothingExch in Two week liquid diet
Losing weight isn't a matter of opinion. It's a matter of fact, it's happening or it isn't. If the number on the scale is changing, there's your answer. What are you really asking or saying? Are you merely nervous about your new undertaking? If so, that's cool. Many people are. You'll be fine.

Good strategy.
I don't think that getting 90 vs 70 is going to be a big problem so long as there was no other calories from sugars, starches or junk. If it was simply getting a bit more Protein due to brand changes and all other macros remained the same.....I'll bet you are fine.
Protein and water will certainly have the weight coming off.
