  1. I'm in Winston Salem, NC! I had gastric bypass on Wednesday September 7th, 2016. Feel free to contact me so we can keep each other motivated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. And Criztian: Do you guys have to do the clear liquid diet before your surgeries? I'm only on a liquid diet for 24 hours. After surgery I will do the Clear Liquids for three days including the day of surgery. I then will go to full liquids for five days and then puréed food until my post op appointment. That's the way mine is set up. I can have protein drinks during my 24 hour liquid diet pre surgery but since I don't really like them I drink protein Water. 6. I do Protein drinks instead of shakes. I couldn't stomach the shakes. My most tolerated one is by trimino and it is the strawberry lemonade. I add a bit more unflavored Protein Powder to them so I get more protein since they are only 7 grams of protein per drink. There are also other brands that make flavored protein drinks with more protein in them like isopure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. My doctors office wouldn't give me a date until I had all of my evaluations done. I had to be cleared by the nutritionist, and the psychologist first. My insurance had to approve me first too. My insurance company has assigned a case manager nurse whom has had the surgery as well so I can ask her all the questions! I guess that's why I'm not nervous because I'm pretty much there. My biggest hurdle will be this pre op diet for the next three weeks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I hope you meant to ask me... I have samples that the nutritionist gave me but no I have not gotten my vitamins. Honestly I'm trying to figure out what will meet the requirements but still be cost efficient because I don't want to spend a bunch of money monthly for vitamins. I have nothing left to do except for whatever they do preop. I start my diet tomorrow. Other than that I'm just waiting until the date. You? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. More excited than anything. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. I have Obama care under the ACA and it's covered for me. I really just think it varies. My deductible is $500 while my max is $700. I had to make sure I got a good plan. Co pays are $5 for my primary and $10 for specialist. I guess I lucked up! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I think if it doesn't say then it's up to the doctor. My insurance doesn't require much of anything except to meet the 40+BMI or 35+ w/co morbidity. I have my own psychologist but I still have to see theirs since they specialize in bariactrics. I've seen a nutritionist within the past two years but I still have to see theirs. If I were you I'd check with the surgeons office and let them know to see if that could count. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  17. Having a trainer come to you seems perfect in many ways. I use to do Zumba classes and I hope to get back into it in the next few months. I just have to find an instructor that zumbas to the kind of music I like.. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Thanks for letting me know! The doctors office did schedule a metabolic rate appointment right before it so everything you said makes perfect sense to me now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I think this is used for patients that aren't active at all pre-op and may have some barriers to certain exercise. It's to make sure the person is properly exercising and won't hurt themselves. I haven't had my Eval yet and not sure I will but welcome it. That's interesting because I do have some problems with exercising. I hurt my back in a car accident and I have knee problems to the point where I will need surgery. Thank you for your input! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Did anyone have to do one of these? What do they evaluate? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. I haven't had surgery but my blue cross blue shield plan covers it. I have the plan through Obama care so I'm hoping that when the time comes I won't get the runaround. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. I've always been overweight. I honestly thought it was normal when I was younger because my family was full of overweight people. Almost two years ago I lost an uncle to congestive heart failure. He was very overweight, had sleep apnea and other health problems. I'm overweight, have sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, and more. I've tried to lose weight many different ways but it never sticks. I finally got tired of feeling like I'm dying in my own body. Don't get me wrong I love myself but I don't love all of the extra weight. It's damaging my whole being. I was scared of the surgery but then I found out my aunt did it and since I've considered it, I've found so many helpful people that it makes the process seem simple. I know it's major surgery but I don't feel alone in the process with being able to reach out to so many people over the Internet. I'm new to the process so I have a few appointments to go but hopefully everything goes well!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  24. That is what's going to happen to me. Well not replacement but I am having knee surgery which will happen before gastric does. Hopefully two months will be enough time to be in a good position for gastric. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  25. I will have my last appointment July 27. I'm hoping for an August surgery but it could be September. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
