    3 Days Post Op

Ali, im still the same way and im 7wks post op. I dont want food, just Water. My taste changed as far as the Protein shakes and so i hate the 1s that i loved before surgery. Now to get protein, im trying to eat all foods high in protein but id have to eat 24hrs in order to get the amount of protein in without a shake or the powder. It has definitely been 1 crazy ride for me. Ive been to the er 2x for dehydration and its horrible to try to bounce back afterwards. Please make sure you keep up with your bowel movements. Constipation sat in with me so in 7wks ive only gone 2x and thats witb taking stool softner everyday. Now during the day, i try to get in some prune juice along with my water. But i had my gallbladder and a large hernia repaired all at once to. My stomach feels tight all the time. 5 sips of water and im done for 45mins. Im still just eating maybe half of 1 medium egg. Idk if this is the norm. Ive talked to people who still eat the samethings they were eating prior to surgery, which, i dont understand but thats their truth, this is mine. Take your time, this isnt a race. I lost 41lbs by my 4wk checkup. It will come off. I started in a true 3x, now 7wks later, im in a xl-l, depending of the designer. Follow the drs orders. Fluids and walking right now is all u need to focus on. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    I love progress pictures!

Excuse my words....but HOT DAMN...LOL. you have a beautiful smile and face anyways so as a friend, your weight wouldve only bothered me if it bothered you because i dont like to see my friends bothered. But your progress picture, you look more comfortable with yourself and because of that i would be happy for you and knowing that health wise, id have you around much longer....lol. your smile is huge and beautiful. How long ago was your surgery if i may ask Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Initial appointment frustration

Your dr program sounds like the norm. And im not up state, i now live in fl. Ive in boston, actually in Dorchester and across the world. The only way that if your insurance is paying that youre going to get that surgery paid for is to follow the guidelines and if yourr paying out of pocket, id definitely would take their advice and seek mental and nutritional help to make this journey and life change the best it can be for me. During 1 of my group meetings, there was a lady that was still coming trying to find out what she couldve done to save her daughters life. She committed suicide because she had her surgery done in Mexico where they didnt require any of these things that the jnsurance require because she wanted it fast and she paid for it out of pocket. I guess i just really wanna see people succeed with life. The media shows to many body types that arent the norm these days but young girls think they have to be a size 2 to be beautiful and that isnt true. But that dr that told her that her body was comfortable at 200lbs is a quack. Id definitely find someone else but still work the program. I dont know any of you but you told her right. Were all Sisters in this game of weight loss. We just want her to get it the right way so that she will succeed and wont be 1 of these people that didnt have the right tools to keep it off forever. This wasnt some lightweight surgery and god forbid id ever put the weight back on, then what. Idk, but keep giving her great advise and help her to find the right way Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Initial appointment frustration

Well missionslimmom, my dr also had atleast a 6 month requirement. And it was all well worth it. This isnt something to just jump into. I saw that youve read up on everything for 2yrs, so did i. I thought after talking to any and everyone thats had thr surgery, to watching every episode of my 600lb life, to reading books and online, i knew it all. But once my pcp dr referred me to this dr and we met, they gave me a list of things that i had to accomplish before surgery. See a therapist, a cardiologist, lose between 15-30lbs, a upper gi study, and to see the nutritionist 6x and attend at least 3 groups. By the time all those appointments get scheduled, you still have 6 nutritionist appointments. 1 each month so youre lucky if, IF its not really like 8 months before surgery. So knowing that im 7wks post op, didnt matter how much i thought i was prepared mentally, nothing can prepare you for these feelings that out of no where comes pooring out when you just really want some ice cream, or a glass of your favorite wine. And im 50yrs old. Never had a weight issue until i broke my back at work 5yrs ago as a flight attendant. And 145lbs went to 298 because of all the steriods in medicines for Rhymotoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, and MS. I was suicidal because of the depression of the weight.. i realize that youre upset right now, but i really and truly hope that at least somethings that ive said will help you understand the entire process. If you get a dr thsts willing to do it faster, id run from them. The things that ive gone through over the past 7months definitely helped prepare me and i wouldnt have had it any other way Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

But you can best believe ive kept my bottles and if i ever have a stroke, somebody gonna hear from it. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Psych eval today !

Trust me, if your dr office call and say theyve made you a second appt then that means they want you to work on why you use food for comfort if that is the case. Im not saying that is your case but you know some people emotionally eat because of childhood bad memories or bad marriage or whatever. But in our support group that meet 1 a month, we had a therapist as a guess last month and he was telling us some of the signs that they look for that they deny people or have them come for couple of appointments. When people come in and say they cant live without having their beer, or their icecream, then why would they give them thumbs up and pass them if theyre not willing to give up the bad habits Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Cellucor COR-performance protein

I like the premier shakes. They dont taste gritty to me, but thats my opinion. Anything that ive used that u have to add the powder to, it either clumps or is gritty. But the ready made shakes, i like. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

  13. Omg, when i got on the scale today at the dr, i wanted to scream. 40lbs in a month? I dont own a scale at home. I know i had lost a great bit of weight just trying on clothes. Ive gone from a 3x to a xl, and thats freaking amazing. Im concerned that i cant get my Proteins in. I had gallbladder, and hernia surgery when they did my sleeve so he hasnt released me to get back into the gym. So ill stick to my walking. But i need to know do you guys have any ideas for this Protein that i got today? unjury, unflavored. Thanks Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Nutrition Book

Check with your dr office. They should have a support group that meet. Mine met 2x a month and some people had their surgery yrs ago and still come and are very helpful..i guess it keeps them from going back to old habits. This is a great form here also. Alot of helpful people. Im only 5wks post op and feeling good. Last week was really bad. I came down with some virus going around so i couldnt hold anything down and it was bad. Dehydration, nausea, headache, stomach ache, it was bad, ended back at er. But after iv for fluids, and about 3 days rest, its back to being great. And just in 5wks, ive gone from a 3x to a large and im loving it Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  17. How long ago did you get your lapband? You said you lost 80lbs, what else does BCBS want you to do? Some stories ive heard has been horrible. The insurance companies dont realize that they'll end up paying more if you have to have a sleep study because youre over weight, what about diabetes and arthritis? All these things come into play when were over weight. They just dont understand . Well, i would take myself straight to their office and sit myself there until someone give me some answers, i just wouldnt take this denial 2x. Especially when its for something as important as this. Ive had to have double knee surgery before also, its not nice. Good luck honey Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  18. How far ago @@rickm did you have your surgery if there wasnt a pre op diet then?....lol. Heck some drz today dont make their patients go on the diet. Mine was 14 days of just Water and 3 Protein shakes per day. I see some people can have 1 meal a day and only have to for 1 wk. My girlfriend had the bypass and didnt have to do a pre op diet and we had the same surgeon so idk why they do what they do Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    4 days till VSG surgery

Im 5wks post op and was like you. The morning of surgery, my nurses that helped prep me was just so calming that i wasnt stressed anymore. Now i live in pensacola fl, and my dr is just so sweet, he gives you his cell phone number and say call if u feel like anything is wrong. I had surgery at 730am and was done at 1040. He ended up removing my gallbladder and repairing a huge hernia that i didnt know i had. I was on a iv the first day, the next morning, they sent me down to xray for a upper g.i. to make sure that my pouch wasnt leaking. After that test, i was allowed to sip on Water and juice. The next morning i was given watery cream of wheat, Jello, juice. I couldnt stand any of it, i didnt want any of jt. Now that first day after surgery, that afternoon they got me up to walk. I had 3 c-sections, so i kinda knew what to expect. The more you walk, the better you feel. Some people get really bad gas, i didnt, but i also went for 3wks without a bowel movement. I had to start taking something to go, and it wasnt nice. But since then, i started out wearing a 3x, 5wks later im down to a large. I havent stepped on the scales , i never do unless im at the drs. I go by my clothes, and im happy with that. That was all in 1 month. I only had 100lbs to lose and by the way thats going, i should reach that goal by Feb. 1 thing is true for me is that right after surgery, my taste completely changed. I drunk my Protein shakes everyday but now, anything that has dairy, i cant keep down. So im having to get my protein from food. Everyone is different, but just do what your dr and nutritionist tell you to do and you will be great. You'll do great Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  20. Hey fellow sleevers. How is everyone doing? Wheres all my October sleevers? How r u doing with these changes? Ive finally been able to go to the bathroom at least weekly now, but i do have to take something. Are you guys crushing your pills if you have to take a pill? Somethings are just so time consuming that i forget and swollow them and then have a panick attack for the rest of the day. I dont try to just obsess over my new sleeve so the other day i actually ate a potatoe chip that my granddaughter put in my mouth. It was a plain lays and it went down good and it tasted even better but i felt so bad that i literally called my nutritionist the next morning.....im still on the puree food. What phases are the rest of the oct people since not all drs follow the same phases.? Good luck to us all Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  21. Im 4wks out and since i had the surgery, i cant stand any Protein shake. The dr wasnt so much concerned with protein right now. Just me being able to get these fluids in. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    AB's Journey

Yes, i took that for the cleanse the day before surgery. Because i suffer with ibs anyways, it usually take alot of help for me to get to going. I take Linzess for IBS but since ive been off it until week before last its going to take a minute to get right. But im here now in er. Hopefully they can just hook me up to iv Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    2 weeks out !

Me, me, but its the complete opposite. Im so constipated man. I had same procedure on 10/4 so a month post op. Ive been doing great until tuesday. They repaired a huge hernia and gallbladder at the sametime so my recovery, ive been taking it easy. Ive been able to reach each goal ive set for myself. Im up to 2miles a day walking, im on pureed foods but i cant keep anything down the past 3 days. Ive had 1 bowel movement 2 wks past surgery and nothing since. Ive taken mom's also for relief. Now im in so much pain, and dehydrated that im here in the er waiting to recieve a iv for fluids. Ive been kicking myself in the ass for 2 days wondering why all of a sudden, im going through this. Heartburn is just so bad i feel like im on fire on the inside. They just took my vitals and my pressure is through the roof because of pain. I just hope they call me back soon. Damn my dr for being on vacation right now and i had to come to another er. If he was in town, he cohldve just called the fusion center and had them hold me a chair for a iv. But im at another hospital where another bariatric dr is on call for hispatients just in case of emergencies. Wish me luck, and i hope u start to feeling better soon Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  24. Hey guys, i think ill be making my first trip to the er. My lips are chapped and i have heartburn so so bad it feels like im on fire from the inside. Ive been throwing up all lastnight and so right now its just bile. So i think its time to go. My dr is out of time but the office told me that the other bariatric dr at the other hospital is on call. They work together here and theyll just get me a iv. I really hope this makes me feel so much better. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Exercise?

If i can ask, what was the second surgery u had to have? Was it related to the first surgery, thats all i wanted to know. Like my girlfriend had her sleeve done 4 months ago and they didnt remove her gallbladder. But 1 month later they had to. I didnt think something like that could change so fast, if there wasnt a reason to remove it in the first place Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
