Conflicted- Holding off Surgery for work?
Today is my last day of work before surgery Monday. Last two weeks have been crazy and tons of unexpected things have come up but they will survive without me. I have them plenty of notice so feel no guilt about this. It's time for me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Unflavored protien powder
I just ordered the unjury starter pack and will see how I like that. Two samples of each of their flavors including unflavored and chicken soup. I keep seeing post about it so thought I'd give it a try. Also bought the Isopure unflavored but have not tried yet.

Tip for people making plans for post op
My surgery is this coming Monday and I took two weeks. Then will try to work from home a couple days a week the first few weeks back. I have a desk job but a 2 hour commute so that makes for a long day.

First Time Out Drinking
My doctors written instructions say "No alcohol for one month". That seems a bit strange to me and I plan to hold off longer than that as I'm not sure I'll be ready but to each their own.

Liquid diet?
Mine is only one week but honestly not nearly as bad as I thought. I think it is because I feel as though I am so mentally ready for this surgery that I just want to do things the right way and know this is part of the process. I am on day four today. As of this morning I had lost 4 pounds after three full days on it so that is very exciting and motivates me to continue because I will be that much closer to goal. Don't get me wrong, I am hungry but it is manageable. broth and tea help, the warm liquids are comforting. I also have been going to sleep earlier to avoid any temptations. I have not cheated once and am very proud of myself. You can do it!

Why no caffeine on pre-op
I weened off over two weeks and have now gone 13 days without. While very tired this method helped me avoid headaches. I also did not want to have withdrawal on top of other post op struggles. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm so hungry! (pre-op diet)
My pre-op diet is liquids only per my dr with the exception of Greek yogurt and sugar free Jello. Some people don't even have to do it at all so each dr has preferences. I'm supposed to be getting 800-1000 calories but averaging about 600. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

First NSV
Lol. I was actually SAD one day- put on a pair of pants I had always loved and found not only were they too big and fell right down, I had missed the window to wear them- blew right down past that size! I waited until I hit the 3 month mark to clean out all of the big sizes from my closet and drawers. Don't know why- probably still attached at the time to the idea that it wouldn't work completely for me. Now- have tons of room on my shelves and hangers! lol. Careful about buying things- only a couple of nicer outfits at a time. The rest I get from Walmart and such. No luck with resale shops, but the outlet malls have been a godsend. Even got a couple cute tennis skirts/golf skirts to wear! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I live 5 minutes away from the outlets and am looking forward to going there frequently Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm so hungry! (pre-op diet)
I think it would be trial and. Error based on your own preferences. I like Campbell's. Even try the chicken and noodles and take out the chicken and noodles? Maybe more flavor than the broth. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm so hungry! (pre-op diet)
Warm liquids help me. Tea and broth seem to give me a fuller feeling than the same amount of a cold liquid so try that. I especially like it before bed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

PA Highmark BCBS PPO Insurance- I need help!
Many of the tests are required by the surgeon rather than insurance. They want to make sure you can handle it. There are the insurance requirements and the. The additional things required by the surgeon. For me this was the swallow test, cardiologist and pulmonologist. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
