    Ulcer

I had the scope just to confirm it was an ulcer but they don't do anything to fix it. Omneprezol and Carafate was what I took. Carafate is a chalky liquid you take 1 hr before each meal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'm almost 6 months out and I'm the same way. I'm just exhausted 24/7. To be fair I was typically tired before surgery too but everyone said you'll get a new found energy after all the weight loss and proper eating - that never happened to me. I'm just more tired than before even on 30mg daily of adderall (a stimulant so I should feel wide awake) I can take a nap. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sushi/sashimi?

My nutritionist actually let me eat sashimi as a soft food stage 4 item. Around a month I was eating sashimi grade tuna. Just avoid or be cautious on the spicy mayos, sauces and soy sauces. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Calcium Citrate

I use the BariMelts calcium citrate. They melt in your mouth and they taste good (I think). I was afraid to use the chews yet as I'm only on soft foods and they just seem like it'd be heavy to digest. Also I know every doctor is different, my office said the Patches don't absorb as well so we aren't allowed those. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Left-sided abdominal pain

I've had this pain too for the past 5 days (I'm 3.5 weeks post op). It was so bad today that I was crying in the car unable to breathe while my boyfriend threatens to bring me to the hospital. My surgeon thinks it's a small ulcer (even though I have none of the normal symptoms, it's not worse when I don't eat, no vomiting, no blood) and said it can take 2 weeks to heal and had me take Prilosec, hasn't helped at all. I hope it gets better soon for you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. My office moved eggs to week 8 because of how many issues with blockages they see. Might just be the eggs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post op gear

They wouldn't let me put a sports bra on during my stay, but I did out one on for the ride home as I was dying to get covered up. The closest incision I have is in the middle about 2 inches from my bra line, so it's not an issue at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Coffee/mochas/etc..

There are companies that make white mocha sugar free syrup (try torani on Amazon). The white mocha latte from Starbucks is the highest calorie syrup they make. Even their skinny mocha still has higher fat and calories (I used to be a barista). You can always order a nonfat latte and then put your own syrup in to get the white mocha taste or you can experiment with vanilla, cinnamon dolce and hazelnut Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How slow is slow?

Thanks for your reply James. I should clarify, I have information for what stage I'm on, what foods I can eat, what Vitamins to take, and how much Protein and liquid my goals are for the day. Im trying to be really good on all that. What I've noticed is that in trying to follow the guidelines they gave me, I get sick still. So I was trying to find out the parts my info doesn't clarifying. I'm hoping to hear some experiences or guidelines on how long it takes new post op people to eat a Popsicle, or drink a protein shake. For example if I eat a Popsicle and it takes me 15 minutes is that too fast? Should it be taking an hour? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I got bypass on 7/19 and I'm trying to figure everything out. My nutrition guides don't say anything about max serving size or times to consume thing. Day 5 I was supposed to start incorporating Protein drinks so I tried a Protein shake (Premier Protein with some pb2) and I was sick the rest of the night/ next day. I'm trying to figure out if it's what I'm eating or how fast I'm eating it. How long did it take you freshly post op to eat a Popsicle, drink some Soup, have a shake? What are the symptoms that you should stop (I don't get that full feeling anymore so I have no idea when enough is enough)? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. It's nice to see someone else was wavering between the two as well. My surgery is July 20th and just like you I choose the bypass because it is the gold standard and has more long term studies to show its success. The only reason sleeve is still an option is because I get headaches /migraines frequently and worry about not having NSAIDs in my life again. My doctor said I could still take my migraine medicine and we would discuss my choice at my pre op appt. Crazy that my decision won't be final till 4 days before my surgery. 12. My doctor provided this resource. I've been buying samples (like one of everything) so I can see what I like after the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
