  1. @Dknal2 Thanks! I guess you are right. I am now 39 BMI, so I would expect no more/At Most one lb a day. I KNOW I slowed my own progress by eating some candy (recees mini cups and some chocolate covered bullshit) on Christmas Eve. I know it was dangerous and shooting myself in the foot. I know it knocked me outta ketiosis and carb weight loss...anytime you go off track, it will derail your weight loss for at least two days, but the scale showed me I am back on track again!
  2. @@theantichick You should tag this post to your 'signature line', like you do with the 'easy way out' one, as it is THAT helpful. It also does not have the shaming aspect that so many of the responses to 'i ate xyz' that others post. Like I said, I done messed up xmass eve, and had already got my own message and fear before I turned on the computer. What I would love to see (just random talking, not directed at you), is weekly menu suggestions. I went to Pinintrest and was disappointed (ads, too much food porn, not enough heart of the matter). ..course I am just now starting puree, so I need to bide my time. LOL.
  3. Well, in 2011 we went to the (then) brand new Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios, then only open a few days..I had to get 3 'clicks' on this harness that strapped you in like a child's baby seat and they could only get two. My gut and hips met where the fun began.. I started this path that fall. I also, bailed out right before surgery. I'd lost some weight naturally and walked away from surgery... Fast forward 5 years to more up and downs, weight gain and know arthritic knee pain, dragging myself and my ass around school, uncomfortable having sexy times cause of my gut, knee, general health. There is a pic on my profile while dancing with a friend that shows the "full monty' (my backside) that set me over the edge. I am now 14 days post surgery and down (only?) 10 pounds.

    I'm freaking starving.

@@erp I agree Cream of Wheat is too carby, but it was the first thing that was soothing..the warmth I think helped. I tried the powder in it and it was a nasty clumpy mess! 1/2 a cup should be too much! That is what is flipping me out. Now, to me, Fage is so close to a liquid maybe that is why..as it sorta sloushes right out and I ate it over a 20 minute period.

    I'm freaking starving.

Half of a cup of Fage plain yogurt also 1/2 a cup (cooked) cream of wheat..
  6. Point Taken. I've been giving myself the Come to Jesus and your words are along the same vein. Falling off the so-called wagon early out isn't just about slow weight loss, it is about basic recovery from a MAJOR surgery! My confession is on Christmas Eve, 11 days after surgery, I sucked on 5 mini-Recees cups and a few orange chocolate sticks and a marshmallow Santa. Yeah. I could have just nibbled on a tiny edge of one of these things, but nooooo, I went whole hog. My justification was that since it was so melty and slidey, it was *like* a puree..(nice try girl).. Besides, clearly stopping my weight loss in my tracks, it is dangerous!! I hear you. Totally. Of course, I am also worried in general about this being successful. Too much hunger, too much calling of carbs too damn early. Guess this will be more work than I thought it would be. (And please, don't tell me to get counseling for my f"ood issues").
  7. I know I have posted a bit about my Dad. I am STILL set on surgery tomorrow...but this is what I have to deal with! Love him, but a LEMMING!!! The only real reason to have this surgery is to change your continuous hunger level....and that isn't guaranteed. Wacking off your stomach doesn't do much to your bodies ability to gain or loose weight. Slicing your self open and destroying your stomach sets you up for a possible lifetime of medical problems and pain, all for the promise of weight loss which I do believe will occur for you but at a dear cost. To be successful your meals will consist of a bland diet of about 4 tablespoons per meal. You don't need to cut out your stomach to do that one!! Nausea and indigestion could be your daily experience. You will likely have to maintain a life time of nutrition supplements and you will require continuous medical monitoring. You don't like taking supplements now, so if you will have to do it, do it now without the surgery! Your primary weight loss will occur over the first two years but the adverse consequences of this surgery could build with time and haunt you like a plague forever. Don't do this thing. I know you have not given a balanced blood analysis monitored supplement regime to suppress your hunger and to assist you in a weight loss program a chance. Don't butcher your self when there are far safer alternatives. This is not the easy path that you think it is. It is one that you will be sorry for taking and it is one that you will not be able to end once begun. The science of weight loss is changing radically nearly daily. Apply that extremely intelligent brain of yours to weight loss as you have to other challenges. In the future, stomach sleeve surgery will be considered as brutally barbaric to have done as RK eye surgery is considered today. That (erroneously), I thought well researched decision, severely unalterably impacts my life every day that I am alive. It was a big mistake that only severely showed up in the past ten years but nothing even close to like sleeve surgery could end up being for you. Please listen to me: I am right about this.. Don't do it my daughter, don't do it. But remember, if you are locked into this thing and absolutely have to like a Lemming going towards a cliff; no matter what you do, you will always be my princess and I will always be your dad and I will always be there for you.
  8. @@theantichick Yeah, my Dad has chilled out. I was to go to Dallas or xmas, but have been too tired for that drive. I was going this morning, but silly me, drank a juice called Kale Blazer...yeah...a very very very bad idea (I am day 8)...so no driving today. Mom is not happy theantichick
  9. Do not dare drink "Kale Blaster" a week after surgery..pretty obvious now why :) :) :)

    1. Anna Nim

      Anna Nim

Freudian slip..Kale Blazer..same thing. I have been Blazing my way to the potty all day. hahahaaha. ugh.

if it weren't for "kale blaster" I would never poop!

  10. So glad you are doing well! As the days go by, I hear it gets better and easier. Someone I watch on youtube who is years out is Clusie L. She is hilarious and she does share alot of her experiences with WLS. It may help the days pass are you are Progressing through the different food stages! And yes, it was kinda like an intervention scene with my dad. I'm like dad, I'm good, I got this. Stop sending folk to talk to me about a decision I have made already and 2 months away from. Lol Parents, they mean well.. most of the time, but they are some funny people. *hugs* I tried to find Key of Awesome Ke$ha parody, but this a school computer and everything fun is locked down or I just am not that good! My poor Dad wrote me a handful of VERY well written emails. I know he was just pacing and pacing and pacing his house. I should have called my Dr's office and begged my Dr to call him (my Dad is in Virginia, I am in Texas). Cause I knew my Dad was wearing himself out. He got my brother in on it too. I get this short message, "Come to Colombia, you will lose 20 lbs in a month walking the hills, don't have surgery" (which is alot from him). Then another the night before surgery..."Come to Colombia". My other brother, a PhD in MicroMedical Biology called with questions and technical questions and a reminder that I could always back out. My mom wanted to know why I couldn't just eat carbs, then was like...yea, I know..but did want to know why I was not having a Bypass like on 600 Lbs life. In the end, here I am I wanted to drive to Dallas today, but I think once I get my stuff all packed, I wont have energy for the drive!! Oh--and I got a binder. Wow! What a difference!!

    3 Days after surgery

    From the album: Just Me

5 holes (leaked a bit in hospital) any my jelly belly.
  12. Day 7. MUCH better than day 3. That was rough.. Still sore ton the right, throat (hernia repair) and tired and Jesus, would I love some food! Even Cream of Wheat would be the bomb right now! But, I can do this xox to you all!
  13. 3-4 Days after surgery is no joke. Hurting and cranky and sipping my water.

    1. heidikat72

      heidikat72

    4 days post op

I have right side pain. Feels like muscles I guess. IDK. Have to hold it when I get up. I was sleeved on Wed the 14th. Been drinking Water, warm tea and creamed, strained Soups. I tooted today and felt that was a victory Throat is still sore too, I had a hital hernia repair. Didn't feel much gas from surgery, although I did feel it in my shoulders and wonder if my side pain is that.
  15. Extension cord AND phone charger Chapstick and Vaseline My hairbrush and elastics A change of comfy clothes (sports bra, undies, lost yoga pants) Paper with my numbers on it so my friend could call my family and my living will. Slip on shoes (that I wore in) I also wore in my hoodie. As soon as I could I got out of that gown and into a sports bra and T-shirt, soft pants. I had some leakage from my steristrips which stained my shirt-but still better that a gown!
  16. There is this Kesiha parody from the Key Of Awesome, I can't copy it here cause my computer is work locked down, but one line is the girl singing, "Oh crap not again, it's an intervention". Going in my head right now I did the surgery. I am hurting and sipping and ready to not hurt so much, but overall everything went fine.
  17. Tomorrow is Clear Liquids Day, the day before surgery! AND I am swamped at work.

Work shmerk, you have other things to do.

  18. My Dad is hard hitting me not to have this surgery. I am 46, BMI 40, Arthritis in both knees and obviously no long-term ability to keep it off. He is gathering stats and posting them to me in emails. Here is an excerpt below, what do you think of his stats? "I have never seen so much distortions and obscurations pertaining to anything as is done in bariatric surgery. I thought knee replacement was bad with all the hype but nothing like this!! There are hundreds of "authoritative" articles on the subject, almost all of which are blatantly designed to appeal to your emotions. Half the forums are a joke mixed with truthful questions and experiences and often salted with carefully spin doctor messages. The most complete reporting that I have found with only moderate spin is: www.obesitycoverage.com " Gastric By Pass vs. Gastric Sleeve Surgery." I feel that you doing this surgery could be without a doubt the worst decision in your life. You've got to know the probable consequences and they are not good. Colette, this is one of those times that even if you feel that the probability of serious occurrences occurring is low...you still just do not do it..... You just don't do it because if any of the serious consequences do occur, they are so unalterably life changing negative that you can not risk it no matter what because it will be forever. I don't get where you say the odds are in your favor? They are not. Yes, I understand that the death rate is low, (which I am thankful for), but to have some complications are almost guaranteed. You have got to know that by now. Read the article. Even if you ignore the 60% to 70% probability of indigestion, nausea and dehydration, the percentage of occurrence of mild to severe complications is a huge collective 88.9% !!! GERD 47% Nutritional deficiency 12% Gallstones 23% Acute Stricture 3.5% Deep Vein Thrombosis 1% Staple line failure 2.4% Total: 88.9% Please don't go through with this. We can figure something else out. You do have options. Dad"

    Willpower: Good for Nothing.

Yes. I painful am getting this. My Dad, always HWP, he claimed he was fat as a kid (not that the pics show). He may have simply trained himself as a kid to not do xyz, but he also often doesn't realize when he needs to back down (pushes himself too hard physically until it is too late). For the rest of us mere mortals, decades of food Triggers.. Willpower isn't there. It seems to be a bunch of planning and mindfuckery. One that I hope I can master better after surgery. I am tired of the background noise of food urges that never stops. I would like to banish that chatter to a far corner of my mind.
  20. I think the basics of when you will be gone/returning is enough, along with any work restrictions. Your manager is likely getting pressure from the boss and they usually are worried about scheduling of humans (and how it will affect them), the exact nature of your surgery is likely just a curiosity. My job (I am a teacher) has not ASKED...although ironically, on the "vauge" note, the Dr.s put on it their Baratric letterhead. LOL
  21. THANK YOU everyone for such large and overall super supportive responses! I know I have a 100% chance of regaining anything I lose. Proven Fact. I am trying to wrap my head around the changes to come, but I think the ones I know about are better than what is currently in front of me. Losing a bit on the Pre-op, cut my coffee way down-my soul is crying at that but I DO feel better! Wed is the day! I wish I could take off on Tuesday, but we are down 2 people in my department. It is already going to be nuts. Wed Wed Wed. My friend is going with me and staying with me that night when they send me home that night. The next morning she will leave, and I will be alone until my high school son comes home from early release. I had wanted my exH to come over, but since I rejected him again on his 25th request to get back together, he is feeling butt hurt. When I can drive a few days later, going to Mom's in Dallas for xmass. Fingers Crossed!!
  22. What is going on? One thing I KNOW that all of us need and none of us get enough of is Magnesium. Depression, energy, heart issues..all helped by it. I take a lot of it, like 200% of daily value. The Magnesium Miracle (book) is helpful in this area. But, for you-what is going on? Water? Nausea?
  23. I am having the Sleeve here in the US and have been given I think a good amount of nut info. Wed is the day! Thanks!
  24. That car didn't stall! That car drove itself over a cliff bar and straight into mashed potato heaven! LOL!!!!
  25. This is a great post and well written too. It does give me pause to how life will be post Sleeve and ironically is a bit depressing. I had the fantasy that I simply would not want food (like I did the first few weeks I was on Byetta that one time). I had such a deep sense of relaxation, being freed from the ADDICTION of carbs. I see it will be a bit more work. Course I have to remember it is not natural to have that much carbs around, even when I was a child the Evil Carb Hore was not that insidious in society...and neither was Facebook and Youtube,etc.. at least TV shows had commercials and ended every 30 min/hour... You are right, you can not get gas without a gauntlet of nasty temptation. Keep it up!
