I am 7 years out and there is no way my stomach is the size it was and I am back to square one.
I would love to eat 2 pieces of pizza. I used to be able to eat 4 pieces before surgery. We had pizza the other night and I was so stuffed after one piece, I was uncomfortable. I wanted another piece, but my surgery held me back.
So the surgery does help with a lot of my eating problems. It just doesn't help with willpower.
The thing that makes me gain weight and have trouble losing it are the sliders. Cookies, candy, and especially, anything sweet actually.

    I feel for you.
If you are really that unhappy about eating 800 calories and losing weight then don't eat what ever you need to maintain what you have lost and be happy.
Everyone experience with surgery is different. For me it isn't just about weight loss it is about reversing the Diabetes and so far the results on that front have been astonishing.
I was a total emotional eater prone to binge and grazing so for me the changes forced on me by my sleeve have been a godsend I feel like I have control for the first time in my life.
I hope you figure it out.

I was 2 years post op at the end of April. I go up and down 5 lbs depending on if I am going out to a lot of social gatherings where there are Desserts that i can't resist. Sweets are my downfall. I keep them out of the house.
For the most part, it's easy to stay at goal.

Hahahahahaha! I agree there are MANY MANY MANY Ways to modify the poll, but I really just want to know exactly what I asked. How much weight gained (IF ANY)?

I think the poll would have the most value if you knew how long people had been sleeved and what amount of weight has been gained in each of those time frames. Also, maybe incorporate age and gender and eliminate those who have been sleeved less than a certain length of time (6 months or maybe a year).
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think of other ways to modify the poll, so never mind. LOL

    HI Y'all,

I wanted to do some research with REAL people instead of reading about it in some report.

I'm wondering how much weight (IF ANY) you have gained since being sleeved. I go up between 1-3 lbs. so my answer would be 1-5 lbs.

I'm curious to see how this goes.

    Thanks!

Girl, I felt the same way you do. I'm now 8 days post op and I feel great. I still get tired if I do too much but that's because of the amount of calories I take in (or don't take in). You will feel better, I promise. Remember, this was just a tool, but if you are a foodie like I was, it's like a major loss in your life. This will sound weird, but I try to cry as much as possible to release excess energy and it really helps. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Hello friends,
Some of you expressed an interest in boxing.
As part of my charity work I am Director of a local nonprofit named The Advocates Boxing Youth Program.
I plan to post videos of a basic boxing workout regimen for those of you wanting to learn.
The focus will be basic punches, stance, footwork, balance, and combos.
But for now please enjoy these videos of Xavier Garcia a 10 year old boxing participant whom I have the
pleasure of working with. He is training to compete so the work is a little more intense.

I would say to you that we have the surgery because nothing else worked. People who regain the weight don't take it seriously and think the surgery is the answer. The surgery is a tool and you must change your habits forever. This isn't a diet. It isn't a race to the finish. It is a life long marathon. To be of any success it takes time and patience, a commitment to the plan and hard choices.
Yes, some people regain the weight but that doesn't mean you have to. There are also people out there who are years post-op and are still at goal. You can do this!

Play with the temp of your liquids. Early on I preferred hot or room temp. Now I much prefer lots of ice.
Try different flavorings- I like some of the Mio ones. Early on I used Decaf tea mixed with herbal tea for different flavors. I sometimes drink Chick Fil-A diet lemonade that I Water down. I cannot get myself to drink much plain Water.
For me I can only get in enough liquids in if I use a straw. I know this is against most surgeon's programs but I have never had in issue. I have read many people on this board say they use straws.
It can be very hard to get in your liquids early on. It gets easier. I now drink 80-90 oz a day. I am never without a double walled cup with a straw unless I am riding my horse. No cup holder there.

Do you have anyone constantly trying to bring you down postop? I have a girl at work, and if I am ever not smiling, not unhappy, just working she says oh she can't eat she's so sad!!HAHAHAHAHAH. I am so not sad I feel great until she starts acting bitchy. I wish no one knew. Is it jealousy or is she just so unhappy she feels the need to put somebody else down? It hurts my feelings, and as a still somewhat emotional eater, it is really not helpful in this journey

You sound like me. My issue was I could lose weight but always gained back.
I overate, wasn't really emotional eating just never felt full. Sleeve has been perfect for me. An example was I could eat 4+ slices of pizza before, now 1 slice and I'm stuffed like I just had thanksgiving dinner lol.
Talk to doc to see what is the best route for you. For me sleeve was it. I cam still have my favorite foods fast foods as well granted in moderation and I make better choices now, but I only need a little to feel satisfied.
There is more to it than that but wanted to relay that for me sleeve was perfect as my issue was mainly overeating as I never felt full

I'm a 70 pound overweight female in my 20's with no other conditions. I know I overeat big portions and eat fast food 2-3 times a week. I am hoping the sleeve will help me to restrict my intake and motivate me to make better food choices for life. Will the sleeve help me do this or is bypass a better route for me?
I have read some people feel restricted when they eat and others don't, some have no hunger while others do? Does it all vary from person to person or depend on the type of surgery/surgeon you get?
I guess my fear is going to Mexico and having the sleeve and it not working for me. . .

Chrissy Shay reacted to jaxmom in Did any of you have to try prescription weight loss pills before looking into the gastric sleeve?
Ahhhh phentermine.... I have a long, sad relationship with phentermine. I started taking Prescription wl pills in the 1990s when fen phen was the rage (it was a mixture of phentermine and something else) well it was awesome, people (myself included) danced in and out of pop up diet clinics shrieking "IM THIN!!!!" Worked like a charm. I personally lost 24 pounds. Problem was, it caused holes in people's hearts. Bummer!!!!! Diet pills fell out of fashion for a while but came back in the news with xeincal (removes fat from what you eat with rather unpleasant side effects). Slowly doctors began prescribing phentermine and I know in my area there are lots of diet clinics that will prescribe it for a hefty fee. It's GREAT at first- I say my house is never as clean as when it's phentermine clean!! I don't want to eat, have lots of energy, weight comes off- fantastic, right? Well the problem is, your body gets used to it pretty quickly. And each subsequent time you try and take it after it is less effective. You might get a great month or two out of it and that's it. I've tried asking my WL clinic doctor for more at that point ("but my cleaning non eating buzz is gone, can't we bump it up a bit?") is always met with a resounding NO. As a matter of fact, my GP won't even write a script for it- she just thinks it's too short term to really be worth it so I would sneak to clinics. I should also mention it can make you EXTREMELY irritable. I had a friend who took it and was a middle school teacher. Her principal called her in because there were so many parent complaints about her being a witch to the kids and she fully admitted it- the phentermine was making her very testy. She stuck to taking it on weekends and her own kids lived in fear of her. So.... Short working life, hard to get, can make you grouchy... Yeah, it wasn't a long term solution for me. I got a band, it worked pretty well, band broke, I got sleeved last week and am loving life. The only thing I regret is spending all those years dabbling in diet pills. I was a self pay for the band in the Dominican Republic because I had a low BMI going in but man... I after so many years of being miserable I wanted that weight off soooooo bad. Now the sleeve is awesome (insurance paid to cover broken band) - best decision of my life. My husband is thrilled I'm done with diet pills too. Surely I wasn't cranky????? Well at least the house was clean!!! . Good luck in your journey!!!!

My doctor just put me on Phentermine and I am liking it, but I've heard it's very short term, and was really hoping for the gastric sleeve. I'm really worried that after the 3 months the weight will come back, plus some. Did any of you have to try something similar first? If you tried phentermine, what was your experience with it?
