  1. WOW! 12 hours sounds like a lot to not have any liquids. Did you ask your Dr.? Does your Dr. do a fill during surgery. I know some do, but mine does not. You should tell him you can't get any liquids in. 12 hours sounds drastic. You'll dehydrate.
  2. AMEN on the walking issue. I too am having a hard time walking. I get so tired so quickly. I usually walk about 2 miles a day, but I just do the circle in my cul de sac now, and I'm exhausted. Yesterday I went to the grocery store, and when I got home, I had to take a nap. LOL! I'm tired all the time. My husband read that is because of the lack of protein. I'm doing better getting my protein shakes and supplements in, and I do feel a little better, but I'm still soooo tired. This is 4 days after surgery for me. Is everyone this tired all the time?
  3. I too am having a hard time getting it all down. I have to drink ALL day. It's hard. Especially when I've been in a lot of pain, and sleeping much of the days away. I was banded 9/11. I'm just starting to feel better today.
  4. Ashley, I would think you should be fine. My Dr. said resume normal activity after 3 weeks, but I think you should definitely ask him. The roller coasters do jerk you around quite a bit. But... I think if you're not having any problems, you should be fine. It's not going to damage your band at all.
  5. Harley, Thank you so much for all your support today. You gave me some great ideas! I had a great day today.
  6. Think I figured it out. heehee duh!
  7. do I have to create a brand new ticker every time I lose a lb.
  8. I can not for the life of me figure out how to change the weight on my ticker. Can someone help me Please! :-)
  9. WOW! You lost 33 lbs in 3 weeks. That's a lot of weight. Your body may just be adjusting. Give it a little more time. I'm sure you will start losing again. I know it must be very frustrating. I would definitely do what your doc says, and get the restriction. I hope it helps. I'm sure it's hard to stay on track when you don't see the scale moving for all your hard work. Hang in there! I think you'll be fine. It's still early. Remember with the band, you do lose much slower.
  10. Riviera, Was the 33 you lost before surgery? I notied your ticker says 33 and your surgery was only in July. That seems like a lot to lose since July. Unless of course, that was all before the surgery.
  11. Does Sonic Ice have protein? Doesn't that have a lot of sugar? I did eat a sugar free popsicle today, and that was good. I'm just having trouble getting the protein in. Maybe it will get better in a week or so. Haven't tried the special k powders yet. Maybe I'll give that a try. I had a lot of pain today and yesterday. Dr T told me to take some advil. That surprised me, as I didn't think we could take that, but it helped a lot!
  12. Help! I'm not liking too many of the protein drinks. The Champion Whey is ok, but don't love it. The isopure water sucks! Has anyone tried the New Whey Bullets? I'm only 1 day post op, but having trouble getting in my protein. I'm actually not hungry at all. I would welcome any tasty protein supplement suggestions. Thx.
  13. HARLEY! Even better......I had a big fat juicy Rib Eye! A baked Potatoe with butter and sour cream. Then, my husband said we should go for my favorite dessert, a hot fudge sundae, but I resisted that. HAHAHHAHHA Today I'm eating light. Protein shakes and broth for me. EEEEK! I'm very ready though, but still very scared!
  14. Harley, (I'll probably be bombarding you with questions) What about hair loss, etc... Some say they can lose their hair by losing so much weight, but I though with lap because you lose it slower you don't tend to have the hair loss. What are your thoughts on this?
  15. ML, I'm sure I'll be joining you at next month's meeting! Looking forward to it.
  16. Harley! I am definitely starting with "I'm going to succeed" I'm going to do everything humanly possible to make sure of that. I am looking forward to a new ME! Thanks for the inspiration!
  17. WOW! That's fantastic!! I would love to lose 90-95 lbs. Dr. T. told me to expect more like 50% of what I am overweight. Being that I'm about 250, I guess that means I'm about 100-110 lbs overweight, and that means I should lose about 50-60 lbs. He says 100 lbs is not the norm for lapband. What are your thoughts on this? I'm sure he knows, he's the Doc!, Just wondering what others think. I know everyone is different. I really hope I lose closer to 70-80. I'm banking on this really helping my comorbidities like my asthma alot. If I can just lose enough to get off some of these meds, I'll be so happy. I'm just not sure if 50lbs is going to do it. I'm hopeful that it will be though. I see some of the girls on the other forums losing 100-150. Man, that would be awesome! LOL! I'm just going to do the best I can to get as healthy as possible. You've done fantastic! You should be soooo proud! One discouraging thing to me, is that there really aren't that many people in here from WLSC. Out of all the surgeries he has done. Where the heck is everyone?
  18. Harley, That's AWESOME! How much weight have you lost all together? Have you been able to keep it off? I hear you can tend to gain some back? Is it really difficult keeping it off without the fills? My dad had lap band in 2006, and has lost 180 lbs. He said he has gained a little back, but not much. I have read so many things, I'm scared to death of failing after all of this. Any tips on how to succeed and keep the weight off after this many years?
  19. Hi again, Did you have to do a pre op diet. I've heard many have to, but I have not been told to do anything like that.
  20. ML, I did hear the gas pains are really bad. UGH! I had a polyp removed from my uterus last year and had that gas pain as well. It seemed to last several days, and was brutal. I'm sure everything will go fine. Thanks for all the info! Where in VA are you? I'm in Chesapeake. Do you go to the support meetings? It's quite a hall for me to go, but I'm sure I will to begin with, and then may try to find one over this side of the water. Not sure yet.
  21. ML, That's awesome! So you can do protein shakes. That is great! I hear the taste of them is terrible, but there is one that I really really like. It's Ultramet chocolate. It's very high in protein, and low in sugar and carbs. Do you know if you can drink any shake, or does it have to specifically be the shake they give you. I hear a lot of them taste terrible. Also, did you have alot of pain/gas after the surgery? How long did it take? How did you feel after? Were you scared. I'm petrafied. I'm afraid I'm never going to wake up. LOL I know that's crazy! Thanks for responding!
  22. Hi Hampton Roads gals and guys. My surgery is September 9th. I just got my pre surgery package in the mail. I was told I don't have to do the pre op diet, which is good being that I'm going on a cruise and don't come back till a week before my surgery. Dr. T just said don't overdo it. Does this sound right? Has anyone done the pre op. Also, the post op liquid diet. Is it completely clear liquids, or does it include protein shakes, etc... I've read that some are on clear liquids. I haven't done my food class yet, it's next week, just I was just curious. Also, I would love to hear some success stories from WLSC. I hear a lot of your success can depend on the Dr., fills, etc... as well as your commitment. Harley, I know that you've been banded for several years. How are things going for you. Any tips from those of you that have been through the journey? I know I'll be on here posting tons of questions. I read a lot on the forums, but so many say different things. It's great to chat with you fellow VA bandsters.
  23. I too am doing this for my health. And... if I look better, even better! I have sleep apnea, and very severe asthma, and high cholesterol. I wasn't born with asthma, just got it as I got so overweight. If I can improve my asthma, and overall health, This will all be worth it for me. My dad had lap band surgery two years ago, and has lost 170 lbs. His quality of life has improved so much, it's amazing. He's like a different person, so active, more energy, etc... Here's boost of positivity for you all to hear. We are all going to do great. Good luck to everyone!!
  24. Hi Girls, I too am being banding in September. SLA we are being banded the same day. WOO HOO! 9/11, the beginning of a new life for me! I'm petrafied too, now that it's all a reality.
  25. I too have hypothyroid. Definitely get that checked out. It makes a difference, and can definitely make a diff in your weight loss.
