This has been a worry of mine as well. It helped me a bit to look at a few examples of suggested criteria for a pre-surgical psychological assessment for bariatric surgery candidates. This helped me by giving my an idea of what I am being assessed for.
    Here are a few...

I'm documenting my weight loss journey on Instagram @dear.amanda.
Im a veteran, mother, wife and student. Early this year I decided I wanted to live life. I didn't wanna be held back because of my weight. I have struggled the last three years with my weight. I don't wanna be another statistic. Also I wanna find a few buddies who are going to be having surgery around the same time as me.

That is because the candy, and chips, and snack food, and fast-food, and soda industry are big bucks!
If they (the powers that be) can push the idea that it is your own fault then they have no responsibility and can keep racking in big bucks!
Imagine a factory was fluding the air with toxic chemicals. People were getting cancer... Not everyone, just some people... And it was getting to be more and more.... Soon a third of everyone was getting cancer from breathing the poison air.
But the company pushed the idea that cancer is a choice. So they can keep polluting.
And the crazy thing was people believed them. Even the sick people would hold their breath or wear a gass mask when out doors... and assume their cancer would go into remission on it's own.

Tell them whatever this rule is that you need it in writing. Go to the Obesity Action Coalition website - they have some good info on appealing. Talk to your surgeon's office too - they should help.

Have to agree. I only read medical journal, stuff from credible sources, sources that aren't crapped. Even then you can get a snooker or two. There are several lists I check that debunk garbage.
I do not watch TV, movies, etc. and that is to fill my mind with good things that will help me. Go to your doc or to credible sources. Medical research isn't that hard to read. You can do that and it will help you with any concerns.

Relax your mind, human growth hormone (HGH) is produced and released from your pituitary gland, far, far from your stomach, no matter how much was removed.

I am so sorry you are experiencing such distress. Many people go through a period of regret right after surgery for a variety of reasons: hormonal fluctuations, the shock of surgery on the system, the fact that you cannot use food to regulate moods and emotions, etc.
I would suggest that this is a good opportunity to look for a good counselor or therapist to help you learn to cope in a healthy way. See if the person who did your psych clearance can see you or refer you to someone.
Whether you want to or not, you cannot turn back the clock and change what happened. The good news is that you have no choice but to move forward: you get to decide how well you follow your program and learn to make the most of this opportunity.

You can't depend on dumping. You might not ever dump, and even if you do, you might only dump in the very beginning.
The reason your Dr said they are the same, is because long term, they basically are the same. You have to do the work, you can eat around a sleeve or the bypass.
If people don't change how they think about food and your eating habits, people can fail with either. Long term it doesn't matter what you have.
