Lesson learned for those in beginning stages - keep a copy of everything you give to your surgeon's office. @@Ashoryb I would call the Office Manager as well. Let them know what's going on and hopefully they'll address it immediately. Good luck.

I hit my 1 year on Saturday! It's crazy how fast it went! I've lost about 110 lbs, gone from a 28 to a 16 in pants and am a lot more active than I ever was! I'm definitely still a work in progress with 35-40 lbs to go and I'm still learning, especially now that it's not so easy to lose but I couldn't be happier

I am 16 months out and down 140 lbs. I went from 334 to 194 and LOVE IT! It has been brought to my attention that I no longer look like the woman I used to be. Some say I look younger, others say it looks like it could be my sister but definitely not me.. I love it! I feel like a different person too. There are so many things I can do that I never did before (as I sit with my knees to my chest on the couch comfortably while typing this... ummm can you say MAJOR NSV?????) I would like to lose another 10 lbs or so but I am totally happy where I am now.
Feel free to share your face to face pictures below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to take control of your life sweetie. Don't Live to eat. Eat to live. Think about it this way. Plus you could seriously hurt yourself. I work for a rehab and nursing center. I have seen quite a few people come in with serious issues after gastric bypass and sleeve surgery because they just did not listen to what the doctor told them now they have more than just being obese issues they are terribly sick I haven't gotten the surgery yet but my mind s set on being healthy and I'm doing this to extend my life not to shorten it I really really hope that you can get control of food and realize that if you continue to eat those kinds of Foods you will continue to Crave them have you ever done it before the surgery this is a big problem too I noticed with people who never dieted before the surgery they don't have the education to keep their selves healthy after but I am here I will help you in any way. I would surely love to help you!!!!

Mashed potatoes are a purée and French fries are FRIED potatoes. Big diff.
I, too, was allowed 2-3 tablespoons of mashed potatoes at three weeks out watered down and with fat free gravy. Big difference between that and fried solids.

I cook for my wife and two kids and am currently one week post-op (yay!). What's been working for me is getting "full" before I cook for them. I'll have a Protein shake, or some Tomato Soup, chicken broth, or even a runny scrambled egg before I begin cooking. It doesn't take much to gain that "full" feeling and once you do, the desire to eat is pretty much gone.
I really feel at such a short time after surgery our desire to eat these comfort foods is mostly mental and from habit. You have to stay strong and realize that what you did, you did FOR yourself and not TO yourself. You are not being penalized, you are healing.
I'm not a doctor, but I would have to assume that things like fries which are starchy and can have sharp edges, can really cause some damage to your new stomach. Never mind the calories or anything like that....just be careful and stay strong.

    You know this old joke?
Guy raises arm to show doctor "Doc, it hurts when I do this"
    Doctor: "Then don't do that"
When you're cooking and tempted to eat fries and other junk weeks out from surgery when you know it could potentially harm you?
    Don't do that.
Sorry if that sounds self righteous.

    Look, bottom line is this:
You're going to have to learn to delay gratification if you want to be successful with this. If you can't do it with sheer will power, then seek therapy, support groups, read books...whatever you have to do.
I'm certainly not going to pat you on the head and validate your behavior. I made my choice, and I chose to follow my plan and not do anything to jeopardize my health and happiness. I'm no better than you are, and my struggle I'm sure is similar to yours, otherwise we both wouldn't have had the surgery.
Now do whatever you need to do to make the choice to be successful and healthy . You're worth it.

    @@Lucilla - lets see...
    you don't like the shakes.
Doctor suggested Isopure...and YOU have chose to not get them, but you chose to eat the other stuff? This is YOUR life. If you are not going to follow the doctors suggestions then why in the heck would you listen to people on a website?
I cooked for others in my house and didn't eat it.
The excuse of having small children doesn't work with me either because then we should include the "fur babies" too and I wasn't eating "Blue Wilderness" or Beggin' Strips.
You are struggling, I get it, been there....done that. Got the Sleeve to prove it.
YOU have to take responsibility for your choices - no one forced you to eat the food.

If you do want to lose more I am sure that if you put some effort into it you can be successful.
Why not make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals and strategies for reaching those goals and then maintaining since you are so close.
In the meantime. go back to basics and make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids.
    Are you exercising?

@@Megall9 ... she's wrong. The sleeve's benefits never go away.
However, the sleeve is NOT all that you need.
You're going to have to learn and use a whole new way of living -- and you will, because now you'll have a fighting chance of actually living the healthy and slim lifestyle.

Yes! I was mortified that the sleeve wouldn't or won't work because I had the lap band done and that was a nightmare!
I'm two weeks post-op and it's been a challenge, but I've seen a HUGE difference between the lap band and the sleeve! You will feel restriction in a way that you can't eat more food even if you wanted to, but you're not running to the ER every time (at least that was my experience with the lap band).
I'm not weighing myself either because that would drive me nuts! I'm only doing it once a month. It's forcing me to make better choices and be very aware what goes in my mouth

I'm 8 months out and 155 pounds down. Every time I get on the scale I expect it to read 400 pounds, not 250, 249, 248.
Every time I put on a piece of clothing that was too small, and is now too big, I expect it to be some sort of mistake.
Every time I sit in a chair with arms, I expect that I won't fit, but I do.
I was positive when I started this that I would be someone it wouldn't work for.
