    Nausea in middle of night

Hey there. Much better. I'm now 7 weeks out and doing great. I had weird nausea for a few days just in the middle of the night but I think my biggest issue is that you don't really know what to expect after this surgery. Don't know how your personal body is going to react and I just got scared that something was wrong. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. My diet was set as 2oz of Protein shake, packed with Protein powder 6 times a day. It ended up being around 60g of protein a day. I got tired of the taste but was able to get all the protein down. As per Vitamins, I can't speak for the aspertame or artificial ingredients but I take Celebrate Chewable Multivitamins, Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium citrate, and a bariatric advantage chewable Iron. I don't use stool softeners but my doc said if I needed to, milk of magnesia or regular gentle stool softeners are all fine. Prevention of hair loss is getting in all of your protein. Looking for a buddy

The protein shake diet is terrible but it gets a great deal better once you can try pureed foods. Just try to think of the protein shake phase as taking medicine. Just have to get it down so you can feel better. You won't really enjoy the taste of food again until puree but you can definitely do it. It sucks but you did the surgery for a reason and this is the hardest part (at least to me so far it was). I'm 18 days post op as of today and things are looking up.

    Bathing

Baths are going to be a no no for a while, don't want incisions infected. I took a regular shower two days after surgery. Just be gentle but it was honestly the best thing ever. Helps to wash the hospital off of you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Emotional With Doubts

Well, I can tell you that things have gotten better for me since I've moved to puréed foods. The gas pains were terrible for me too but I will say that walking will help that. Some of it will linger for a few days but I promise it's not forever. The pain will subside significantly soon. Between day 5 & 6, the pain decreased a great deal. It will be easier to remember your reasons and drive to do this surgery after you can eat/drink. I'm not 100% but I'm better. Take it in stride and you'll find that each day will get a bit better. Emotional With Doubts

Thank you so much. I know you're right, it's just so hard to convince myself 100% that it will get better. My weight loss has always failed and I do remember why I did this. Maybe I will have a little shining light when I can have some applesauce and not just Protein shakes Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I thank you for this reply. It's exactly what I needed to read. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I don't know where to start. I'm 12 days post op and I don't know if I made the right decision to have surgery. Could I have just buckled down and lost the weight on my own? Are the mood swings, irritation, and all worth it? I just feel kind of hopeless right now and all the people around me just seem to tell me "oh it's a process and it'll get better" but all I can think is...what have I done? Maybe it's too early to feel that way but I have always been a super upbeat and positive person, even though I'm overweight. I just don't want to have changed my favorite part of myself by trying to lose weight this way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    People I Work Closely With

Those that care about you and are close to you, will understand how important this is for your health. I felt the same fears before I had my surgery and I found that everyone was very supportive. You are strong for making this decision to change your life and if they care, they'll do whatever they can to be there for you.
