Yes I did. It was interesting to meet Lola for the first time. I found it kind of funny that when Chay first walked out as Lola, the 2 family members in the chairs were like "Ok..what else is new?". Pauline was up to her same ole tricks (refusing to walk, believing she is losing weight,etc) until towards the end of the episode. I am glad that she is trying to let her son have his own life because the way he has been living (taking care of her) is no way for someone his age to live. I plan to keep my surgery a secret (just not interested in other people's opinion who don't know my struggle). Most people are used to me dieting and exercising. Only my mom knows and if I'm ever in a relationship again, I'll let him know.

Hi there, I am 25 and this is my second go round at wls (I was approved through uhc 3 years ago but didnt go through with the surgery). Like you, I have also been able to lose weight on my own (90 pounds twice) but each time I gain it back. So now I am quite determined to get the surgery this time because I am so tired of losing and gaining. I'm glad to see you have a date:)

You bring up a very interesting point because the surgery is done on our stomachs and not our brains. I think its quite interesting insurance only requires one visit to a psychiatrist and that is before surgery (nothing after). I completely agree that patients are monitored and cared for as far as any physical changes after surgery (i.e. complications) but what about mental changes? Complications can occur there too. If a person doesn't understand why they have a problem with their weight (and how to fix or properly cope), having surgery or going on a diet is only putting a band aid on a gunshot wound.

I completely agree. Its annoying when people think the same things will work for every person. Some people can diet and lose/keep the weight off without surgery and some of us may need medical intervention (like me). I think everyone should just stop judging those that may choose wls because you have no idea what type of struggle that person may be dealing with regarding their weight. I felt so bad for Laura when her husband was being so unsupportive. I get that for so long he was her caretaker and that its hard for him to get used to the change. However he should be proud of his wife for the strength she has to change her life. Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
