Same as you. 4 weeks post op today and have lost like 16 lbs. but most of it was in the first week and a half. I know the 2-3 week stall is so real but hard to digest it for sure. Hoping to see the scale moving again

17.8 lbs down in 3 weeks?
    that's wonderful
if you don't lose any weight for a couple of days, that doesn't mean you are in a stall
an "official" stall - you didn't lose any weight for at LEAST 3 weeks
you are now at 3 weeks, down over 17 lbs!!!
    no stall here!!!
    you are doing great
relish (or pickle LOL) the moment!!!
    keep up the good work
    i'm sure you will
    kathy
    congrats

NewLA reacted to higher in What are you eating 3 weeks post op?
I'm on pureed/soft foods. I'm finding it's a full time job to get enough Protein from the small amounts of food I can eat so am still supplementing with at least 1-2 Protein Shakes a day. I've had scrambled eggs with and without cheese, canned salmon, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, hummus, other kinds of cheese, Greek yogurt, soft fish. 2 oz max at a time.

My incisions hurt at first too. Especially where the hernia was. I am 5 days in and my incisions do not hurt anymore and I'm sleeping on two pillows in the bed. Do not push yourself. Take your time and don't over do it. Its a life time so you have time! So happy no gas pains for you! I am still having intermittent gas in left shoulder but do get "the wave" that comes up my stomach and doesn't feel so good. Thats coming with extra drinking (too fast and getting in too much to quick) Most embarrassed of the farting lol. Do your spirometer too. It really does help. Try not to nap late afternoon so you sleep at night at home. Glad you are doing good!

NewLA got a reaction from melvin5ft2 in IV fluid weight gain and 3 week stall
My surgeron referenced it...but again it depends on the person. I was very dehydrated day of surgery so even before I could be wheeled back they were pumping fluids in me just to get my IV in.
My twin is at 4 weeks and hasn't hit a stall yet.
I am however very thankful for my NUT and this forum as a newbie I've been able to learn so much and assess what may or may not work for me. I even had a good grasp on how to deal with potential issues....I appreciate you.
This journey is individual to all of us so knowledge is power (minus the tad foolish questions)

I had my VSG on 6/30 and it helped that I had a small pillow to hold against my abdomen when riding home so when my husband hit bumps in the road it didn't hurt as bad and with having the seat belt on.

I'm doing very well...I am 12 days out. I asked my surgeron if he really did anything cause I feel really good. I was fatigued at first, but as I got more Protein in, life got so much better.
I went back to work today and continue to be pleasantly suprised.
I was prepared to be on my death bed based on others post. But I realized my individual experience is just that...my own. So therefore anyone else who experienced the growing pains does not mean my journey is going to be filed with doom, come a week or ever.

and if someone wants to ask about something that you deem as "common sense" you can just scroll right past the post and ignore it !!(imagine that LOL)not start an entire post about how "stupid" someones question is GEEZE and sorry but bullies come in all shapes sizes and AGES. so YES adults are some of the worst bullies out there not just children!! like I said before this is supposed to be a support group for people that are just out of or contemplating surgery and myself being new here, am not seeing a lot of support going on but a lot of judgement.

I think my new thing is going to be to comment on all the posts about food. I just wrote two paragraphs about crackers...so now I'm going to write about PB&J. As a note, I'm 3 years out, I've been at goal for about 18 months, and I've been within 5 pounds of goal for almost two years (it took flipping forever to lose those last 5 pounds).
Guess what I ate last week? An entire box of those awful Smuckers Uncrustables with Peanut Butter and honey. I had major dental work done, everything I ate hurt my face, and those were soft and didn't add to my misery. They were good and I ate all four of them in less than 24 hours. I felt like my old fat self, except the difference between now and then is that I also didn't really eat anything else that day and I have no interest in having them again anytime soon. I didn't gain any weight, and I actually managed to lose a pound during that time, probably because the crackers I usually eat hurt my mouth with all the salt they have on them. You know what else I liked to do? Some days if I feel in the mood for something sweet, I will order the kids PB&J from Panera. I tend to forget about this when I say I don't eat sweets almost ever, but given the fact that I used to have a few Cookies, I'm fine with treating myself to a PB&J once every few weeks.
Three months after surgery I ate my face off in chocolate, I regularly ate half a Panera panini, oozing with cheese, and sometimes I had two TWO!! Starbucks cake pops in a day- within a few months after surgery! I didn't adapt to the way I eat now by cutting everything out immediately. Most days I eat chicken, goldfish, granola bars, and some form of vegetable Soup, but the other day I had Panera corn chowder, and guess what, I didn't get fat, I didn't die, and for once the cream in it didn't make me sick.
No, you shouldn't be eating PB&J two weeks after surgery, but for some people, it does them no good to ban them from certain foods forever because it just makes them want those foods more. My sleeve works for me because I can eat anything I want to and so I no longer have any real interest in things that were once forbidden. What works for one person doesn't work for another and I try very hard to not judge someone else's diet based on my own stomach.
I am now going to eat a handful of Peanut Butter Captain Crunch for Breakfast after I just drank two sugar free Red Bull...because I can and it's good and when I factor in what I eat the rest of the day, it is an entirely appropriate part of a normal day.

Got my sleeve and the first thing the dietician asked me when she came in my room was if I wanted any ginger ale! I said, I'm not supposed to have that. Then she started arguing with me!!! She said, it's a clear liquid so you'll be fine. I asked her to verify that with the surgery staff. She promptly came back and apologized. Can you imagine how much pain I would have been in from ginger ale right after surgery? OMG.

Just had my VSG yesterday. I was very pleasantly surprised at how little pain I experienced, especially considering I also had a hiatal hernia. I had no incision pain but a fair amount of gas pain, the intensity of which fluctuated throughout the day and night. Walking helped a LOT as did a couple dosages of Dilaudid and Zofran throughout the night. You may or may not feel up to walking when they tell you to start doing so but be sure to do it - the gas buildup will thank you.
