I've been doing the online dating thing since early 2014. I met a man last year and that relationship lasted nearly a year and while the breakup was so NOT fun, I enjoyed the time we spent together. So, I picked myself up and reluctantly went back online to see if lightening would strike a second time.
I think it just might have. Corey and I started talking last month, have had a few dates, and last night, decided to become exclusive and see where this goes.
Amazingly, his business is food based tours of NYC and the outer boroughs so he is a huge foodie as I am and has already introduced me to some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten. Now I've lived in NYC my whole life and I thought I knew the best food out there. He makes me look like an amateur. Thank goodness for my band..I am not worried that I'll lose control, I'm just enjoying the little bits of yummy goodness that I choose to eat and leave it at that. When I have leftovers...especially sweets related, I bring that stuff into the office and of course, my co-workers love me more than ever.
He's also a season ticket holder at CitiField and a huge baseball fan. So am I. He is understanding that I not just love the Mets, but I love the game of baseball itself and when I told him I'd love to see some of the old ballparks like Wrigley and Fenway, he laughed and said he was falling in love with me with every word I said. This is the first time I've cuddled on the couch with a man and watched the ballgame. It was lovely.
I'm so looking forward to spending time with this guy and seeing if we can make a go of it. Oh..and he's also widowed as I am so we have that in common as well. Not that I'm glad he lost his wife of course, but we have a commonality that someone who is divorced just doesn't have with me. I can talk about Alan, and he is comfortable talking about Barbara and we both know it's fine to talk about our spouses. The men who are divorced think they shouldn't discuss my first husband for a number of reasons and he and I both know that it's good to talk about them as we loved our spouses and they helped to make us who we are.
Wish me luck, my BP friends. This man could truly be the one.

Elle09 reacted to kmorri in Am I a candidate for WLS
The normal guidelines for WLS is a BMI of 40 or above with no other weight related medical conditions.....or a BMI of 35 or higher with other medical conditions...you mentioned you have sleep apnea which is one of the conditions that would help you qualify for surgery....So yes it sounds like you meet the basic requirements...
However, your best bet is to attend an informational seminar with a bariatric center in your area. The seminar is usually facilitated by bariatric surgeons and will provide you with lots of information that will help you determine if surgery is a good option for you. So in my opinion your first step should be to attend an informational seminar....
    Good luck to you!

I'm happy with the results so far, but I do worry that after the honeymoon is over I may struggle. My biggest issue right now is taking time to eat. Between work and kid activities right now I'm stretched. I rarely sit down, eat, chew slowly, etc. I'm not making bad food choices, but I get sick to my stomach/too full feeling quite often because I'm eating too fast.
The positive, I usually cannot wait to get the gym every day....I went pre-surgery, but it was chore. It's motivating to see my endurance increase and run times decrease :-)

The Protein drinks unfortunately will taste like Protein Drinks , but you will do great on your pre-op diet. Just hang in there you can do it. When I did the pre-op diet I had a couple tough days but I just stayed focus. Good luck you can do this!!!!!

I was absolutely scared as hell not to follow it.
It wasn't given to me as a suggestion.....it was a mandate that safety implications about my surgery.
I will say this and I mean it.....if you can't adhere to the two week prep diet then you are simply wasting your time having the surgery and won't do the right stuff afterwards, either. Is that harsh? Don't know....don't care....because it is the truth as I have experienced it.
It's only two weeks. Stick with it and see it through properly.
Well said and total agreement !!!!!
Your advice is spot on now.....just like it was spot on when I was pre-op and asking questions like the OP's. I value your wisdom and sage advice.
    Good stuff.

@@bellabeans - the point of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver. The surgeons come in from below your ribs and they want your liver out of the way. Don't cheat on this. If they have to move the liver out of the way it creates complications. Because I stuck to the program, my surgeon had a straight shot, and I was out for 25 minutes. Cut my recovery time down significantly.
I didn't cheat, I wanted to get in and out.

Do you ever have that moment of clarity where you step back and wonder "what the hell did I just do?". I had that moment and came to rant about it.
I had sleeve surgery on June 1st and since then:
    - My clothes don't fit anymore. I went to wear my favorite shirt yesterday and it was TOO BIG!!!
    - People keep telling me I'm looking great. The nerve of some people!
    - I don't snore anymore. How am I supposed to annoy my wife while I'm asleep??
    - I'm wearing size 38 pants now. I wore those in HIGH SCHOOL! I'm basically a high schooler now!!!
    - My gentleman's sausage looks twice as big now. That's like twice as much to disappoint my wife!
    - I don't sweat anymore. It is the middle of summer and I don't sweat even when I work out.
    - My feet never hurt anymore. I used to have terrible foot pain and it is GONE!
I think I need to go sit in a quite place for a while and relax now.

@@shelbys mom This is something that your surgeon can help explain to you.....I think it has to do with how severe it is for you and the cause.....for example if you have a hiatal hernia that's causing it they can fix that during your surgery....so just talk with your surgeon and see what they have to say.
