My hair started shedding a couple of weeks ago. I am at 3.5 months. So I went and got s short pixie cut, it's only hair and everything with hair is temporary. Very small sacrifice

I take Bariatric Advantage chewable multi and Calcium. They are supposed to melt in your mouth but I hate them so bad I chew them quickly with my nose pinched shut and quickly rinse my mouth with Water. Then I have to sit there and concentrate on not puking them back up. I was told after 3 mo I could start taking the Bariatric pills you just swallow

Diet Pepsi Max and french fries. I live where the summers are brutal and I can't drive past a Q-T without thinking about a Diet Pepsi with a shot of cherry flavoring. I broke a 20 yr addiction for this surgery. But it is still there, every day.

I did a full 2 week liquid diet. The hardest thing I have ever done. We had family over during that time and, yes, i made the whole thing. I did not cheat, not once. Try to keep the big picture in mind. Sure this is uncomfortable but it is also life-changing.
I would watch (and still do on occasion) the All Recipe channel and the food Network. At least I could look at my obsession, even though I could not act on it. Chew and spit if you must, but you will make it. Good luck and best wishes.

I get it. I have been sad and hate everybody (i'm 7 weeks post op). However, I lost the one thing that I could depend on to always make me feel good (even if it was for just a few minutes). food. Glorious food.
I do see a psych on a regular basis and have an appt to possibly adjust the meds and a therapist to discuss why I hate everyone. And the journey continues.....

There is a substantial percentage of the population who absolutely refuse to listen to anything said to them.
I see it everyday. I saw it in my bariatric introduction seminar... the surgeon says, "Now, after the surgery, your Protein goal is X per day." And literally two minutes later, a hand goes up in the (very small) audience, and their question is "Is there a Protein goal each day after surgery?"
These are the people who refuse to listen to anything unless you clasp their hands in yours, look them in the eyes and repeat everything twenty times and say prettyprettyprettyplease and compliment them on their hair.
And they'll still be clueless even after you do that.
If by some miracle they remember any bit of it, they'll still most likely not remember who told them, or may become convinced that they made the determination themselves.
Average people are still pretty stupid.

5 weeks out and I can tell you that loud stomach noises are normal. When I drink or eat, I hear noises and feel brief cramping, nothing really painful. And I did have some diarrhea days early on. Sounds like everything is normal for you! You are doing great!

I had to give up a 20+ year addiction to Diet Pepsi Max. I weaned off slowly at first and then just stopped. I didn't really have much withdrawals, just missed the carbonation. Also, salty, crunchy foods. We went to a movie last week. My husb bought a large buttered popcorn and a Dr. Pepper. It was a little difficult. I had one kernel of popcorn, no more. Didn't want to get sick during the movie.
I could live on chips and quac or salsa. This is a lifetime struggle however I am finding different crunchy salty foods that contain Protein and hope to eventually learn to make kale chips. It took a lifetime to get this fat. Cure won't happen overnight and perhaps I will be battling things forever, but I will never quit.

I stayed 2 nights. Originally planned on just one night, but the nausea got the best of me. I'm not going to lie, the first week or two were rough. Many 'what-did-I-get-myself-into' thoughts running through my head. I'm just coming up on my 4th week post op. However hearing from people that are 2,3,4 years out is comforting. It won't always be this hard. Your body WILL adjust and your new plumbing will adjust.
I go back to work Monday after 4 weeks off. I'm nervous about the fatigue due to my job requires sharp mental focus. I've come a long way and so will you. Congrats on your new life! You will never regret it and good luck!

Im right there with you. 5'3" Hw 430 cw 379. I had gastric on may 10th. Size 12 in 8th grade. Graduated 260ish.
I have 3 relatives that had gastric. I only told my husband and another family member. I dont need people to watch me and question me.
I never been thin. Ever. I am struggling in my previous posts about binning up my winter clothes and coming to the realization that next winter they will be useless, but feel weird getting rid of them because it feels I'm getting rid of me.
I came to the conclusion that my worry is that when you are heavy you put up walls and huge barriers to protect yourself from the smart remarks, the looks, stares. Now it feels I am also turning on the fat girl and going to the other side that mocked "her".
I will lose weight, I will be healthier, I will Celebrate milestones and I will live longer. But I know I will always be that "fat girl" inside. I will always have my heart go out to people my size because I know the details of their life, I know the daily struggles and I know the trapped feeling it causes.
