Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

Diet Pepsi Max and french fries. I live where the summers are brutal and I can't drive past a Q-T without thinking about a Diet Pepsi with a shot of cherry flavoring. I broke a 20 yr addiction for this surgery. But it is still there, every day.
  7. Jess I get it. I have been sad and hate everybody (i'm 7 weeks post op). However, I lost the one thing that I could depend on to always make me feel good (even if it was for just a few minutes). food. Glorious Food. I do see a psych on a regular basis and have an appt to possibly adjust the meds and a therapist to discuss why I hate everyone. And the journey continues.....

    Questins

I did a full 2 week liquid diet. The hardest thing I have ever done. We had family over during that time and, yes, i made the whole thing. I did not cheat, not once. Try to keep the big picture in mind. Sure this is uncomfortable but it is also life-changing. I would watch (and still do on occasion) the All Recipe channel and the food Network. At least I could look at my obsession, even though I could not act on it. Chew and spit if you must, but you will make it. Good luck and best wishes.

What did I do to myself?

5 weeks out and I can tell you that loud stomach noises are normal. When I drink or eat, I hear noises and feel brief cramping, nothing really painful. And I did have some diarrhea days early on. Sounds like everything is normal for you! You are doing great!

    Is it normal

I hopped on the scale one week post op. And it showed the exact same weight as surgery day. I called the NUT and she said that is normal. They were pumping me full of liquids through the IV in the hospital and it takes a while for all that to clear out. She was right. Don't worry, you will be fine! (and stay off the scale for a few weeks)
  12. I was lucky and was able to take 4 full weeks off. However, I feel that I could have gone back at two weeks if I had to. It really all depends on how well your body adjusts to the changes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Ok, peeps. I'm 4.5 weeks post op. I went back to work on Monday. I have had some nasty nausea since the beginning, but have been managing. Since now I'm on more of a schedule and sitting at my desk for 8 hours, listening to my sleeve talk to me, I've finally figured something out. When I take my other meds (anti-depressants & thyroid meds) I get extreme nausea and feel very acidy about 30 minutes later that lasts for about an hour. I literally sat there with my mouth watering, trying not to throw up in my trash can. Today was the worst. I took the Omeprazole about 30 minutes before thinking this might help, but it did not. I am no longer crushing them and taking them whole. Does this have something to do with it? I just emailed my Doc for help because it was so bad today, all I could do was sit there and sweat and pray and whimper softly. It took me getting on a regular schedule to make the connection between taking my other meds and the extreme nausea. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? HELP ME......

    Getting Called Fat After WLS

I mean who needs cable TV? I can just sit and read these threads every night. Far more entertaining.
  15. I take Bariatric Advantage chewable multi and calcium. They are supposed to melt in your mouth but I hate them so bad I chew them quickly with my nose pinched shut and quickly rinse my mouth with Water. Then I have to sit there and concentrate on not puking them back up. I was told after 3 mo I could start taking the Bariatric pills you just swallow Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I had to give up a 20+ year addiction to Diet Pepsi Max. I weaned off slowly at first and then just stopped. I didn't really have much withdrawals, just missed the carbonation. Also, salty, crunchy foods. We went to a movie last week. My husb bought a large buttered popcorn and a Dr. Pepper. It was a little difficult. I had one kernel of popcorn, no more. Didn't want to get sick during the movie. I could live on chips and quac or salsa. This is a lifetime struggle however I am finding different crunchy salty foods that contain Protein and hope to eventually learn to make kale chips. It took a lifetime to get this fat. Cure won't happen overnight and perhaps I will be battling things forever, but I will never quit.
  17. I stayed 2 nights. Originally planned on just one night, but the nausea got the best of me. I'm not going to lie, the first week or two were rough. Many 'what-did-I-get-myself-into' thoughts running through my head. I'm just coming up on my 4th week post op. However hearing from people that are 2,3,4 years out is comforting. It won't always be this hard. Your body WILL adjust and your new plumbing will adjust. I go back to work Monday after 4 weeks off. I'm nervous about the fatigue due to my job requires sharp mental focus. I've come a long way and so will you. Congrats on your new life! You will never regret it and good luck!

    Rant: Rude people!

As a lifetime fatty, I can testify that some people in the general public are dicks and always will be. Don't give them a 2nd thought. They will find something to make fun of, if it isn't you being fat, it will be you with your pants falling off. Hold your head up because YOU are making the steps to a healthier, happier life and all they can do is make fun of people.
  19. I also had surgery on April 25 and I know exactly what you are talking about. My pains are mostly when I eat something. It feels like a big burp stuck for a moment and then goes away. I just figure it is our bodies adjusting to the new plumbing. I think things are going to be weird for a while until we are completely healed. I've been eating creamed Soup and pudding OK. I can't believe how LOUD my stomach is when I eat something. Sounds like a couple of cats fighting. Hopefully this will get better also. Good Luck!
  20. My last night with a normal stomach....bring it on! I'm so tired of being hungry I'm ready.

      Happy Sleeve Eve!!!

  21. I have chosen to tell 4 people; my husband, my 2 sisters, and my Supervisor. I have 4 adult sons and I do not plan on telling them anything. This is a private decision. I have tried and failed at dieting for 35 years. Some may think that it is kind of like lying or telling a 'half truth' by not telling people HOW I am you are losing surgery. So be it. I owe nobody an explanation. It isn't their business any more than it is their business if I have hemorrhoid surgery. My Surgery is this Monday and my co-workers all asked what I was going to do with 2 weeks off. I just said, 'hang out and relax'. If I need to take more than 2 weeks I will think of something else to tell them. But they will never know I had weight loss surgery.
  22. I'm on day 8 of my liquid diet with surgery on April 25, I have a $3200 deductible that has mostly been met. I got a call from the hospital today saying my surgery would be $38,000 dollars and they need $3,600 of that when I check in. After I picked myself up off the floor I chewed her out saying no wonder people have to go to Mexico. Healthcare costs in the U.S. are out of control!! $38k for a one night stay? I'm going to pay it because this had taken so long but I will have to put most on a credit card.. Has anyone heard of a hospital charging this much? I googled the avg cost for a sleeve and it said $19,000. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm on day 8 of the liquid diet so I feel your pain. I went to the grocery store on Saturday and almost cried walking through the store. I had my whole family over for dinner last night, which i prepared. This has truly been the hardest thing I've ever done. I've never been hungrier in my life. We have to keep our eyes on the bigger picture!
  24. I'm April 25. Started liquid diet today. And of course they handed out homemade kettle corn at work. Ugh this is going to be hard Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. My surgery is April 25-today was first day of liquid diet. IM HUNGRY! Discovered I don't really like the pre made Pure Protein shakes. But I bought a bunch and will NOT waste them. Hardest part of today was smelling co-workers food. Ugh! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
