I GOT A SURGERY DATE!! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
April 14th I'll be sleeved by Dr. Enrique Elli at mayo Clinic!
This seemed like the longest process ever.. started on January 4th, and now it's just two weeks away.
I start my Optifast liquid diet tomorrow. I know it'll be miserable, but I'm going to hold onto the idea that I don't care because I HAVE A DATE!!

The thing that is so funny and unlike me is that I went him seeking his approval vs just telling him I am having this done. I think I handled it this way because I feel this decision affects the whole family. Additionally, I am not sure how much I am going to want to cook foods I cannot eat the first few months after surgery so he would have added responsibilities. His response was that he needs to conduct his own research and get back to me… But he is leaning towards no and then the gym comment. I don't know how to break it to him that I am proceeding with or without his consent so hoping he gives my plan his deal of approval I understand his concern and I know he is coming from a good place – he just thinks elective surgeries are extremely dangerous. I think being 110 pounds overweight is much moreso.

@@kmorri -- I will add you as a friend. The only person who will be screaming louder than you when a date has been set is me. So very impatient...and this process has definitely been a difficult one! I, too, make up my mind and then dive right in, however, I do take a VERY long time to make up my mind. I am fickle and I know it! I am looking forward to having pals on this journey bc I don't plan on telling people about the surgery except my husband who is not being particularly supportive. He thinks I should "just go to the gym"....gotta love these guys (or gals) who say stuff like this. They really believe that we can JUST do this with such ease--that it is nothing!

@@leahhindi Nice to meet you! My name is Kathy. Not being able to gain any weight prior to surgery is crazy. I'm glad mine doesn't have that requirement! Why do they think we're having this surgery? I only have to make sure my BMI doesn't drop below 40. My BMI is the only thing I have that qualifies me for surgery as I don't have any other health conditions.......I am so ready to get this show on the road! I've never been the type that can wait.....so this is killing me! haha Once I make my mind up to do something I'm ready to get it done! Feel free to add me as a friend and we can stay in touch......Once I get an actual date I'll be screaming it from the roof tops...hahaha

I wanted to say it here. Over 30 years ago I graduated from High School. I weighed 199lbs. That was the last time I saw the 100's.
Until today. I stepped on the scale and there it was....199 lbs.
I cried....tears of happiness, and relief, because that damn scale messed with me for days at 200lbs. and some odd ounces. LOL
I just really wanted to share this with everyone. Even if nobody responds. I'm so amazed at what I have done, so far.
My progress pictures are in my gallery.
    146 lbs gone.
    49 to go!

When the wedding rings that used to fit so snugly that they left marks fall off your fingers and you have to hunt around in the laundry basket to find them (time to find a jeweler to size them)

When the size 8 jeans you took in the dressing room are TOO BIG! (happened yesterday!) OMG....I lived for the day when I could ask the sales woman to bring me a size 6. Which freaking fit and of course I bought!

You spend and entire 2 1/2 mile run holding up one side of your pants or another, because by the time you realized hey were gonna shake right off your butt, it was too late to turn around and go back home.

As many others have stated, I was fooling myself by thinking that I wasn't as obese as I actually was. But, now that the weight is coming off, I find myself doing little things that prove I really was aware of it before, even if I couldn't admit it to myself. A few examples:
I'm always checking out seats/chairs/booths to see if they'll hold me.
I turn sideways when passing people in narrow hallways so that they have enough room to get by.
I always stand in the back of a group photo.
As soon as I sit down on a couch or chair I pull a pillow into my lap to cover my belly.
My husband brought the hallway thing to my attention the other day at the movies. He says, "You know there were at least 2 feet between you and that lady, right?" Nope, I thought I was about to bump into her!

I was talking to a cute/fashionable coworker and asked her where I should be shopping when I get down to a normal size. I mentioned I like an Anthropologie style but for less price. She mentioned Urban Outfitters. So, I have a new goal!! They have some really cute dresses!

I don't have a store per se as I do a desire. I want to take advantage of all those rare, highly discounted sales that the high end stores I can't afford have...for regular sizes. I want to walk in someplace and be able to try on clothes without some clerk side-eyeing me because their store "doesn't carry fat people clothes."
Heck, I've been this big for 30 years now. I want to discover my style and not the style that the plus size clothing industry has foisted on me!

Thanks everyone for sharing! I have been very blessed with no other medical issues or meds. However, I just had my lab work done and my cholesterol and triglycerides were too high that my PCP is considering putting me on Cholesterol lowering meds. I told her I'm in the process for the WLS and hoping I can hold off. I've lost 30 lbs twice while on Metformin once 7 years ago, got pregnant, stopped Metformin and gained all weight back and then I lost 30lbs on my own 2 1/2 yrs ago watching my carbs (less than 20 grams a day) and no sugar. And staying on my metformin very strictly. But, I started having other issues, like repeated bladder infections, constant diarrhea, (TMI) but results of 4 extended release Metformins a day! I found myself stopping the Metformin when I knew I was going to be on a trip or away from a bathroom during the day and slowly started adding the carbs back into my diet. Now, I'm at the exact weight I was when I gave birth, accept this time no baby excuse.
Looking forward to starting a new journey with my sleeve and not looking back!
