  1. I know there are a bunch of posts already about Keto from last year, however they are really all over the place. Has anyone done Keto, OR a low carb diet that made them get out of a stall, and lose weight after that? I had gastric bypass in May, and only lost 40 pounds total. I am in desperate need of a jump start. I was thinking of doing the Protein Shake liquid diet to jump start weight loss for 3 days, and then start a low carb/keto diet. Anyone have suggestions, or any experience with this?

    Thanks in advance!

No judgement here. I took an edible three weeks post RNY and it hit me like a freight train. These were veeeery mild, designed to assist with sleeping but woo-boy did my lack of a stomach and pylorus express it straight to the dome.

Anyway, once I'd ridden out the worst of it I was starving. Cottage cheese was, and still is, the best snack for the munchies for me. Mixed up with some pickles or pineapple a small 1/2 - 3/4 cup was great. The Protein is filling, the taste and texture pleasant and easy on the stomach. I think Protein is the way, but knew I'd be too neurotic about taste to deal with a shake - so cheese is the way. I'm hoping I can tolerate Jerky at a stage, chomping on a bit of Biltong also works wonders when munchying but you want to be mindful of what you're eating.

Weirdly - I don't care that much for cottage cheese other times.

This is a great idea! I love cottage cheese!!! Thanks so much. Another one of my friends suggested cheese too.

I've never smoked, and I rarely drank (though for five years now I've had zero alcohol). I have nothing to offer except that it might be good to find some alternative behaviors that move you away from putting things in your mouth so you don't end up mindlessly eating. I wish you all the best.

"Thanks in advance for all the non Judgemental peeps!!" was at the end of my post. clearly you can't read, or maybe you just wanted a cookie, thanks but no thanks. bye.

  4. I know I will get a few people who will give me **** for this post but I really dgaf.

Post surgery, after you smoke or drink, (whatever is your poisen), what do you eat when you get the muchies?

Carrots? cheese? Nuts? Veggies? chicken? Jello? pudding?

We need to stay healthy, so has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what did you eat?

Thanks in advance for all the non Judgemental peeps!

    Hi,

It has been a year since my sleeve and I feel like such a failure. I’ve only lost approx 40lbs since surgery. Will the liquid phase I’ve lost 80-90 lbs. While some might be happy, I have a LOT to lose. HW 430 lbs, S.W. 365lbs, current 320lbs and it’s remained there for 4-5 months. I’m so disappointed in myself and feel like I’ve failed. I have the option to get a revision from sleeve to bypass... has anyone done this? Is it worth it? I’m just worried I still won’t lose 😔

    Thoughts?

You should look into the bypass, the sleeve didn't work for me due to surgeon error, but I am happy I got the bypass (even though i am not losing as fast as I hoped, if you see the above post)

I had this revision in May. I too lost very little with my sleeve & developed GERD. Since my revision 2 months ago, I lost 56 pounds. More than I lost with my sleeve (which was about 20 something pounds).

What was your starting weight? I had a revision from sleeve to bypass on May 30th, and I am only down 17 pounds, and getting extremely frustrated.

    Preop highest: 260

    Surgery day: 241

    Current weight: 224

    I am 28, 5 ft 4

  7. I’m nearly a month out from my revision surgery, and I don’t think I am doing well. I feel restriction somewhat, but it’s strange because I rarely feel hungry and/or full. Is this normal? I get so confused because I know I need to eat, but I don’t get hungry. I’m getting in my Protein (60g) but not my Water (about 32oz vs 64oz), and I started surgery at 240 on May 30th, and I only lost 10 pounds since then. I am finishing up purred stage, and start soft food next week.

Is weight loss slower after a revision, am I driving myself mad? I already had a failed sleeve, maybe it’s just my anxiety that the bypass will fail to. I have a month check up this week so hopefully he can fill me in. But, do you guys have any input?

  8. I'm in the same boat as you. I should of learned my lesson weighing myself every day when I had the sleeve, and after the revision to bypass I was doing well just once or twice a week. Now, I am into the same routine of weighing myself every day and it is so frustrating. From surgery on May 30th, to today June 26th, almost a month post op I only lost 10 pounds. I feel like so many other are losing at a faster rate. I know its not good to compare, but some days I feel helpless like this will be another failed surgery =/ so your not alone!

  9. Absolutely hated the attention! I wasn’t used to it, and I would find myself socially drinking more to deal with the anxiety. It also messed me up in the head because I would always think, wow people treat me so much nicer now. Holding open doors, asking how my day is, random strangers smiling at me in the street. Is that what life is like on the other side of fat? It was glorious, until I realized all of that and then I just got depressed. Took me awhile to find a happy medium. I’m sure all of us notice things, I especially notice now people on the train (nyc mta) didn’t used to sit next to me cause I spilled over, and now they do. Don’t let it get in your head too much!! I started gaining the weight back-and things went right back to how they used to be and it was horrible. Stay positive and don’t let people drag you down. It’s not worth it.

I was wondering if anyone actually gained weight after sugery. I went into surgery at 252 lbs and when i got home i was at 261 lbs. 6 days out im at 254. Also i am having trouble getting 64 oz fluids and 80 grams Protein. Best i have done with Protein is 30. Which is more important for the first few weeks?

To answer the second part of your question, fluids are 10x more important then protein at this point. I am 3 weeks out, and severely dehydrated and it is not fun.

  11. I had the sleeve and now I have the bypass. First time around I drank 3 months post op. I Avoided beer, and any carbonated beverages like the PLAGUE. that s h i t HURTS! So no vodka, soda, or rum and coke.

I used to drink vodka, with sugar free cranberry juice ( brought some to the bar in a flask LOL), vodka Water with lemon and lime, and my favorite was white wine. Also, any clear liquor straight or on the rocks. Now, after the bypass my surgeon said I should again wait 3 months, but she strongly suggests a year to not inhibit weight loss. Ugh, I do miss my drinks!! Good luck, and keep us posted on what you decide and how it effects your sleeve.

  12. Hi all! So, I'm week 3 into my pureed food stage and I'm BORED! My diet is one month pureed, one month soft, and then regular food. I've been eating greek yogurt, hummus, eggs, mashed bananas, almond milk, sugar free pudding, sugar free Popsicles, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (I did the notorious ricotta bake, I didn't really like it), and sometimes I will have a creamed Soup. I have been spooning on occasion other things like guacamole, or rice pudding (both pureed with no chunks), but I still am craving other things!

Does anyone have additional suggestions? I just want ideas for quick Snacks, or things to make with less than 5 ingredients. I do not have much time to cook meals. Please help! My taste buds are crying.

Surgery 4/13. Start weight 391, surgery weight 360, current weight 312.

    It seems like ages ago...weird.

Had a major stall and weight loss has slowed...a bit depressing. So many friends have positive comments about progress but I feel like I’m going to let everyone and myself down. I’m now losing slower and even tho I’m eating less than presurgery.

In the last month I have had difficulty with Water, which is so strange for me cause I was easily drinking on average 100oz. daily pre and post op. Water now often hurts my stomach. Really trying to control myself but I have had no food issues, which is scary. I feel I could probably eat anything. Worst is a small bite of a cannoli yesterday:blush:

Daily routine is Premier Protein shake, yogurt, baked or grilled chicken/beef jerky/or other meat...craving crunchy and salty, so either have a handful of nuts or pretzels or pb cheese crackers (figuring this is problem:blush:). Will have small amounts of salad/veggies/fruit but not daily.

I need to get more exercise ...doing an hour of water aerobics 3-4 x a week and some walking.

We are flying on vacation in September...so feeling anxiety about being comfortable on plane and dining chairs with arms. Maybe I had unreasonable expectations of losing faster?

I am better off today than 8 months ago but a looooong way to go. I’m going down instead of up!

2 months out I definitely would not be eating any type of carb like pretzels and crackers. If you need a salty/crunchy a handful of nuts is definitely better. You want to make sure all of what you eat has Protein in it, and low carbs and sugar, which you probably know. Don't get discouraged, I am sure your experiencing the cycle of hearing other peoples positive comments, not feeling the same, getting down, eating things your not supposed to, getting upset at yourself for doing that, hearing other peoples positive comments, etcc.... it goes on and on. Try to change this habit now. Good luck!!! You can do this!

Also, how much faster do you expect to lose the weight! You are doing great!!!!

  14. got my bypass revision on 4/30, SW on surgery day was 242, HW was 260, CW now is 232. So I only lost 10 lbs since surgery. Not sure whats going on, probably in a stall. Still on pureed foods, but I see the surgeon for my one month post op on the 28th, maybe he can shed some light. I am getting my Protein in, but definitely not my Water. Maybe that's the issue? Anyone else struggling?
