    I feel so down

I'm 3 weeks in and haven't lost in over a week. You are not alone. Stay positive!

    Is this price outrageous? (NYC!)

Unfortunately, that sounds about right, however - can you get any of it covered? Even 10K off of that number would help.
  3. You went through this journey once, and it didn't work out - but its not the end. I feel like I have been given a second chance, so you can totally do this! Even my dad said he couldn't believe I went through the surgery again, and I told him I wasn't a quitter! I will try, and try again until i reach a goal weight, and am finally happy with myself. I am sure you feel the same!
  4. Pre-op phase, you will be fine. post op I would wait at least 2 weeks. I got surgery on May 30th, and I feel fine to attend Hardwell in NY on June 23rd.
  5. Had my revision on May 30th to gastric bypass and couldn't be happier!!!!!!! I suggest everyone who feels the way I did to go back to the doctors, they are there to help. Screw people who shame you into thinking it was YOUR fault. I waited nearly 2 YEARS because I blamed myself for my sleeve failure. LOW AND BEHOLD, it was SURGEON ERROR! You hope and pray that you are not the 1% of this group, but sometimes you are, and it is okay. Down from 250 to 233, and couldn't be happier! Seeing the number on the scale decrease again is amazing. Not only that, my face is slimmer and its also those non-scale victories that have me so happy!
  6. Hey everyone! I actually got gastric sleeve 2 years ago in March, and it was a failed surgery due to the surgeon not taking out enough of my stomach. I'm scheduled to get a revision bypass done on May 30th! Is anyone else having surgery on that date? (different hospital and different surgeon!) Also, my doc has an extremely strict 2 weeks pre op liquid diet, where I can only drink 5 GNC lean protein shakes, black coffee, and sugar/calorie free drinks... I'm on day 2 and it sucks! Any one else have to do something like this?
  7. Surgery buddies! I had mine on May 30th too. I'm on the pureed stage now but only a week in im bored of this too. Anyone have any ideas or recipes. people rave about the bariatric ricotta bake, but being italian for me it wasn't that great!
  8. I finally passed gas! Hours of excruciating pain, and it finally happened. Still no bm, but I guess it’s only been 4 days, so not too bad. Anyone else have a similar experience?

    How much have you lost?

I am your exact metrics, female, 5’4 and 240. I just had surgery May 30th, I haven’t weighed myself yet cause hospital liquids and water weight, etc. but I’ll keep ya updated! My surgery was the bypass,

    Feel like I’m failing

Did you have the bypass or sleeve? Can you give details on how you think your eating post surgery? As someone who needed a revision, you may wanna visit your doc again. Otherwise, maybe we can help here if you explain further
  11. Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words ladies. I think I’m feeling the gas pain, I need those gas-x strips but my mom only found the liquid gels and I can’t have that. I had one gnc lean protein Shake today and I’m having some Broth for dinner. I’m just having the worst time. Not sure if it’s because it was a revision, but I’m walking like a hunchback cus my insides feel so tight. Hopefully Tomorrow will be better ❤️
  12. Thanks girl. I will try!!! I’m supposed to drink a shake today, maybe I’ll try later on. Right now I can’t even get out of bed 😮 thanks for the encouragement! Will def keep you posted. And you to me please! Lol
  13. I’m in soooo much pain! They gave me Percocet which is helping a bit, but it’s not strong enough. I’m also drinking children’s liquid Tylenol. I can barely move my torso. Lying down and getting up is torture, but my back hurts from lying down too long. Can’t sleep on my stomach which I am used to. Hopefully things get better after the first week. Oh yeah, and I’m supposed to be on full liquids now that I’m home from the hospital, that is not happening. I can barely get down a half of bottle of bai water.

    May 2018 losers bench

We have similar stats! I just had my surgery this morning if you wanna message me and keep in touch with recovery and weight loss!!!
  15. I can’t figure this app out on my phone. I’ll try to send a private message to you. I’m in NY, it’s 11 here I’m not getting any sleep yet
  16. Mine was at 2 today! Congrats chica!!! Let’s stay in touch
  17. I’m in recovery!!!!!!! My surgery went well. Thank you all my lovely kind fellow humans ❤️😘❤️ my one complaint is they won’t give me that button so when I press it, it automatically gives me pain meds. They’re saying when they put me in a room, they can only give me something once every 3 hours. I strongly Suggest talking about this to your surgeon before surgery, because they called him twice, and asked him and he thinks I do not need it, whatever your pain threshold is; just say 10! Regardless of how you feel, cause with this opioid epidemic going on, they’re extremely stingy and I don’t want anyone else crying like I did. ❤️

    Don't pray for me

So, I’m currently in recovery, and while I was in the waiting room to go into surgery, one of the nurses said to a relative of another patient, “ don’t worry she’s in good hands” the guy responds “well that’s not up to you, she’s in God’s hands now” and I literally was like wtf?!?? I wholeheartedly agree with this as an atheist. I mean I don’t mind if people say they’ll pray for me, cause that’s they’re business, but what that guy said really pissed me off. We’re in the hands of the surgeons, nurses, and amazing surgical team. ❤️

    4 days post-op (bypass)

Girl what you just wrote sounds like ME!!!! I refuse to go to the bar, why watch people drink when I can't?! I need to focus on my mental and physical health first. I wrote this on a few other threads, but its a combination of things, acid re flux, and the surgeon didn't take enough of my stomach out. My revision surgery team said that in my GI series, it didn't even look like a stomach that had been sleeved, and it wasn't because of pouch stretching. Bad luck I guess! But, thank goodness I got a second chance. A lot of people say, "omg I would be so angry, that's not fair, etc" but I look at it like yeah it sucks, but that's life sometimes! With the bypass, I think that i will have more success, and there is less that can go wrong in my situation. He asked if I wanted to be re-sleeved and I said hell no, I'm terrified of that now. Losing 50 pounds to gain 70 is a nightmare!!! It works for soooo many people, and I am so happy for that, I am just the unlucky one I guess! But on to better things! =)
  21. Try not to weight yourself every day, you will go mad!!! I am on day 10 of the liquid diet, I lost 5 lbs drastically in 2 days, and was the same weight for 8 days, until this morning the scale magically dropped 5 pounds overnight. Do not worry at all, the weight will continue to come off. Be patient, and also remember after surgery you WILL stall but don't let this discourage you! Just like our minds need to catch up to the new us (taking more time grocery shopping, looking for new sizes clothes shopping, etc) our body needs to catch up with itself, and all of the changes going on internally.
  22. I am on day 10 today, and I am EXHAUSTED. I have a desk job from 9-5, but even that is tiring. It doesn't help in NYC standing on the trains, packed, sweaty, gross, and commute is a bit over an hour. You are not ill, its def the liquid diet. I noticed on days when I forgot my vitamins it was worse.
  23. Why would he refuse?!?!? I went to another doc to get a second opinion. I think you should do the same!!! I blamed myself for a YEAR before I went to the doc, who said it wasn't all my fault so I def. suggest you try again!

I think you are doing great. If I was at your stage, I would be on my docs full liquid diet, which includes what you mentioned. Protein shakes, chicken broth, suger free/fat free pudding and jello, etc. Yes! I am on day 10 of 14 on liquids. I am sooooo excited! Not really nervous looking forward to the morphine LOL jk, I have done this before, I know its hard but second time is a charm! This weekend I'm going through my closet and getting rid of some clothes that I will NEVER have to wear again! I even have some clothes, that even if I were that size again, i wouldn't wear so I'm going to donate them. Everyone I know is having a BBQ and drinking and laying out in the sun, and I'm just like WHATEVER y'all can do that, I will get through the weekend knowing I'm changing my life for the better =)

LOL agreed fellow New Yorker!! Some people just don't know how to answer the question. And ironically enough, although I do not 100% the answer to your question, I'm having my surgery next week for a revision sleeve to bypass. maybe we can stay in touch?! What i can tell you though, is when i had the sleeve I could barely drink the recommended 64oz daily. I would try to sip every 10 minutes but it was soooo uncomfortable. It would take me an entire day like this to even hit my fluid intake.
