Maybe you could get a healthcare degree so you can then feel successful at weight loss!

  4. We made new pictures yesterday. I feel like a normal-sized person for the first time in a long time. Also, I get to add salmon back into my world today. And Auburn beat Ole Miss. What a great weekend!! Now if the Saints can just surprise me with a win today...

  5. Well. I did it. I mean I REALLY DID IT!!! Hot Chocolate 15k here in Chicago today. Had two buddies from HS at my side, as we cajoled and dragged each other to the finish line. An amazing feeling, really was!!! I could see this becoming addictive. There is one in Atlanta in January. Hmmmmm. But seriously. If I can, anyone can!!!

  8. Lost 3 more pounds!!! Changed up my food and got things moving again. I'm thrilled! :-)

  9. Lawd.....woke up this morning with ringing ears and pounding head. Too old to stay out late in loud places......but I know coffee....glorious coffee awaits each dawn.

  10. I'll be 47 tomorrow. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I am glad however, that I finally took concrete steps to improve my health, after many years of promising "this year I'll do better".

  11. Completed pre-op physician visit 5 of 9 today. I am over halfway through! Time is dragging and flying at the same time...

  12. I love pickles but every time I eat one. I temporarily gain 2 lbs the next day. I need to find some tasty low sodium ones. It's not the weight that bothers me but more why does my body DO that? grrrr

Thank you for the compliments! I don't think it's a knowledge issue - these people have to know they shouldn't be drinking wine at 5 days out or chicken wings at 6 days out - they just don't care - it's ignorance and "I want what I want... mentality". It pisses me off when they're cheered on by others - new and old.

  14. Fun fact: Wine is apparently now on the post op liquid diet! Who knew?

You have to have something to wash the chicken wings down!

  16. I'm doing good with my fluids (can drink almost normal sips) but not so good with protein. Sending the SO to get something else I can try for protein. The protein shakes aren't cutting it - and Atkins LIft (my backup plan) is nasty!

@TracyBar I didn't post anything much. Everything went well - was in hospital longer than expected due to nausea and not being able to keep anything down. Came home Friday (surgery was Tuesday). I had very little pain except when I first woke up from anesthesia. The nausea was much worse and I would have preferred pain. I'm doing pretty good so far - just a week out. I'm more tired today than the previous few days having no problems sleeping (on my side or stomach). Getting in plenty of fluids - able to take normal sips. The protein shakes are not going down easily though. I'm on mushy foods starting tomorrow so looking forward to that. My follow-up with surgeon is tomorrow too. He told me that my stomach was extremely stretched (actually plopped over my spleen and required 6 incisions during surgery) so that surgery should definitely be very effective.

I am not supposed to have pudding yet (not sure why - I'm thinking I am missing some of the items I can have on this stage) but I only have 2 more days before I can add mushy foods so I'll get some unflavored protein to add into food. TY all.

I haven't tried blending with ice - I'll do that and see if it helps. The Bariatric Fusion shakes don't taste bad - I'm just so sick of them already and don't want anything milky. TY.

  22. I'll be 4 months post-op this week. Down 50 lbs, loads of inches, several sizes. I've been too busy celebrating my victories to notice I "only" dropped 4 lbs this past month. Proud of myself for not getting frustrated and focusing on the gains, not the scale! Working the program and its working for me. A little anxious that some say the honeymoon period only lasts 6 months and I'm closing in on that. I hope I have the strength to maintain my new habits as things get harder, as quite frankly this has been so easy for me so far. Ahhh so many changes! But life is good! Thanks BP for providing a place to vent and teaching me so much.

I don't think the honeymoon period is only 6 months. You've done excellent so far - just keep going!
