  1. It'll probably be gone tomorrow or in a couple days. I wouldn't worry about it

I don't think that's enough calories. Your body could be in starvation mode. Fluctuations are normal though - you can go up and down a few lbs just from Water retention.

I'm at 4 months and my doctors calorie recommendations is 600. I think she's probably fine with calories. Just my opinion.

  2. Penny is gunna be dead soon. Unfortunately, it seemed to me she had a personality disorder too (the whole zero insight thing). It was weird bc at the beginning of the episode she was able to walk out to the car...then she couldn't even stand. I agree tho, it's sobering to see how u can def get this surgery and have no change in weight loss if you don't change your behaviors!

  3. Hi Everyone,

I can honestly say I did not get to my current weight by eating large quantities of food. I got this way because I eat the WRONG foods! Even though I love vegetables and I do eat them, I eat WEIGH (ok, way, just a play on words), too many sweets! I truly believe I have an addiction. Just the thought of sweets make my mouth Water, and my mind stays focused on them until they are consumed. I can eat sweets until I physically feel ill. So, my question..... What have you all done to break your addiction to sweets? I meet with the dietitian next week, for my first consult. I want that to be my starting point of bidding adieu to candy, Cookies, ice cream, etc. I really need some help here!

    Bonnie

The good news is that your taste buds change after surgery.. well most people. For instance, my wife was the biggest sweet eater and now could care less. I on the other hand, didn't care about sweets before and now I find myself craving sugary things I never liked before

  4. Good advice. I have had one slice of pizza since my surgery and should probably limit my pizza consumption going forward.

    Don't do it!!

If I were in that situation, I'd either get friends to go with to eat the rest of the pie, or give it to a homeless person. :) That is, if I were sure I could stop with one piece. :D

Yeah, the one piece is fine but taking it home could be deadly!

Totally regret it! My three friends also regret it. But we can't change it now.

  5. No regrets. I have lost over 100 pounds and no longer need any of my diabetes meds.

Ok - maybe one regret. I wish I could eat some Brooklyn pizza with fresh mozzarella. :)

Why can't you eat a small slice of pizza? I don't plan on indulging daily or even weekly but especially 100 pounds down the line I will plan for small indulgences and adjust my calories accordingly.

I could eat a small slice of pizza, but unfortunately they only sell the Brooklyn pies (fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, plum tomatoes) as a whole pie. I guess I could buy the whole thing, eat a slice, and then freeze the rest. Hmmm...
    Don't do it!!

  6. I didn't get surgery to eat meat and die of cancer or heart disease.

If you don't eat animal Protein, then substitute the Protein of your choice. If you are vegan or vegetarian you are should already be used to this.

It didn't say protein, it just kept saying specifically animal protein and animal meat. I don't think specifically saying animal protein for a universal post is helpful to those of us that have read things like the China study.

  7. So rice is def not something you should be having at 3 weeks.. I mean most people are still on some sort of controlled diet during this stage. I would wait a few more months to try rice, as it's one of those things we should try to stay away from. I have sushi but always ask for no rice.. 3 weeks out tho may be too soon for any kind of sushi. Did you check with your surgeon?

  8. I've been at 210 and then 211 and 212 for a week then finally back to 210 today. I was hoping it was just because I'm about to have my period.. now I'm thinking it might be the onderland curse haha.. I guess onderland wouldn't be so great if we didn't have to work for it.. congrats to those that have made it and good luck to those in pursuit! I am turning the 30 next month and I'd like to be somewhere deep in onderland by then!

When you guys got to the lower 200's, did it seem like it took FOR-EV-ER for the scale to drop below 200?

  10. It's a little different not having the access to a Nut.

My minimum calorie intake is 600 and my max amount of calories is 800. She said that if I go over that I will stop losing. Most important thing is to reach the Protein and liquid goals. If you're exercising regularly shoot for 100gr of Protein and +64oz of liquid.

Get my fitnespal or something like it to keep track of your liquid and protein intake. If you don't have a smart phone you can access MFP from their website. (It's still free)

Thank you. I do use my fitness pal every day and log everything. Once I looked on my paper, it says for 4 to 6 months to stay at 600 calories, so I'm def doing that. I do track my protein and stay a little lower then goal but not a lot . Thanks for your response!

  11. I am a little confused about your not having access to a NUT. Doesn't your surgeon offer post-op care? Just because they are in Mexico doesn't mean they aren't available via phone, email, etc.

If they truly aren't available to you, then find a local NUT who works with bariatric/post-WLS patients.

Thanks for your responses. Yes, I could probably email the nutritionist but haven't ever done so. My Protein goal is 60 grams per day and honestly I am usually a little low, but not significantly.

  12. I appreciate you asking because I don't have much access to them, as I did it in Mexico. However, I looked back in an old email and it tells me calorie recommendations from beginning until the first year. Really good news, I'm totally fine! It says not to move up to 900 calories per day until 9 months out. I feel so much better! I just felt like I've seen so many people in here talk about eating so much more, that I thought I was doing something wrong. I'm glad I don't need to worry. Thank you for your help!
