I'm so sorry this is so late. I went back to work in 1 week after the sleeve surgeryCongrats on the loss. I don't think I remember being that small. I'm working on my own being just under 300lbs at the moment. My husband is supportive of the surgery, but honestly I'm more concerned about how I will be post surgery while trying to take care of my kids. I don't want to put all the burden on him. I have three kids ages 4, 3, and 2. Still jumping between sleeve and lap band for that reason. How long was your recovery time? Thanks!
I'm 30 years old, I was 291 lbs before surgery. I never really thought I could lose the weight. I'm now 186 lbs and still losing. I was sleeved 3/28/16, so 6 months and a few days ago.. have lost 104 lbs so far. Good luck to you!

I did have something like pesto over the weekend like twice.. do u think that's it?Black stool can be from pepto bismol or Iron or Multivitamins with Iron. If none of these apply to you, sounds like upper GI bleed! Especially if it smells awful! Get in wit PCP or ur surgeon stat.

I don't take Iron.. so that's not it. I'm hoping someone else with this experience will pipe in so I know the possibilities

Thank u!I would call my primary, internist or gastroenterologist first thing in the morning. Black stool usually indicates blood and should not be ignored. Also mention the six months' of swings between diarrhea and Constipation, which may indicate Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), not the worst thing.
I don't intend to scare you, but urge you to make the call with no further delay. Don't waste time online, as things you'll read may scare you unnecessarily.

It's 2 weeks, not the night before
Many of us are on a pre-op diet 2 weeks before surgery - to reduce the size of our livers - it very well could be a big deal for some. Anyone who drinks the night before surgery should re-consider getting surgery in the first place.
You're fine to drink 2 weeks before surgery. A lot of ppl drink the night before surgery lol! I'm not one of them, but I don't think 2 weeks beforehand is any big deal.Alright so my surgery date is the 17th. I started my high Protein low carb diet today. I have 14 days until surgery. My first (probably of many) dilemma has surfaced:
I want to get drunk. I'm not an alcoholic or anything...i drink once a week at most. But tomorrow I have a concert and I wanted to drink with my friends before hand. Not a lot and nothing crazy. Just a few drinks before going in.
Idk if this is a completely terrible idea or if having a few drinks can slide. I need guidance. Help. Advice. Wisdom.
Please somebody guide me. Thank you all in advanced

So I'm 6 months out and I've gone between chronic diarrhea and chronic Constipation since surgery. Recently, my poop is black.. like jet black. Anyone have anything similar that can shed some light on what might be wrong or if this is normal. Sorry for the gross topic.

Huh? I didn't tell him to, I just said people do because it's true. I didn't, and I wouldn't, which I stated.
A lot of people text and drive/smoke crack/don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom/eat off the floor/run red lights/lie, cheat and steal/etc.A lot of ppl drink the night before surgery lol!

I'm not one of them nor can I imagine telling someone it's ok for them to do it either.

My son's grandfather said "i would guess you've lost at least 12 pounds"... when I had lost 100 and hadn't seen him the whole time. I just said "yep! More than 12 is correct!"I'm two years out, the other day I was talking to the librarian of the school I work at about having pictures taken. I told him that Before I lost weight I hated having my picture taken, but now I don't mind. He said" what you've lost weight?" I said " 100 pounds !" He said what? "I don't remember you being fat!" I had to say thank you and try not to laugh.

The whole crossing your legs thing is weird. I don't remember ever crossing my legs, even when I wouldn't have been considered obese... it's the weirdest feeling in the world to me lol. Anyone else??

Usually if you join a gym they have a free assessment and intro type thing where they will explain different machines and show you how they work

2.5 weeks is too early to worry about losing, just focus on healing right now. It'll happen.Trying REALLY (and I do mean really) damn hard to embrace this week long stall - I am only 2.5 weeks post-op!! - was hoping to enjoy a honeymoon weight loss period for longer than a week and a half....just needed to whine a second, now I am putting on my big girl panties and envisioning smashing my scale with a hammer.

Thank you guys. The honey moon is definitely ending and I can see how people gain weight back. Any suggestions are helpful. I think I may get rid of the Crystal light and see how that goes. I don't do Protein shakes anymore but I might consider it if it becomes a problem

So I'm about 6 months out and recently I've been having serious cravings, mostly for sugar or some sort of snack, like popcorn at night. The cravings are mostly at night and they are really severe. I drink Crystal light daily and I'm wondering if the fake sugar is giving me a sugar craving. I also have sugar free Syrup in my coffee. Idk if it has anything to do with it, but I need help. Has anyone else struggled with this? Prior to surgery I never cared about sugar, or Snacks like chips or popcorn... I literally didn't like them. Now it's basically all I think about, all night. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this or even just if you've been through it, please respond

What's funny is that when you actually get down to that goal, you'll want new pants, not the 8 year old pants lol@@liposuction68 I have size 12's I'm holding on to for 7/8 years strong lol hoping to fit into them again next year and make my way down to an 8/10!! The road to victory is ours!
