  1. Its been two weeks and still the same weight. Actually gained 2 pounds. I'm pretty sure I'm getting in all my fluids but my Protein might not be up to par. I have been eating some carbs so maybe that would be the reason? Its really hard for me because my mom is always yelling at me telling me I'm not doing enough and not eating good but I've only been eating like 1000 calories a day. Idk if that's to much for a month and a half out. She had gastric bypass so i keep trying to explain to her that bypass people tend to lose faster then sleeve patients. She doesn't listen though. I really do want to to lose more weight but this is really frustrating me ????

I think 1000 cals in a day might be too much for 1.5 months out. Ive heard thats what ppl eat when theyre in maintenance

  2. Thank you all so much. She is doing much better. We still arent sure if it was a virus or not but basically i forced her to drink Powerade. She also ate a piece of a grilled cheese sandwich, and weirdly enough she kind of perked right up after that lol. I think bc shes been having such a hard time eating anything, that her body was messed up in several ways. So i really appreciate everyones concern!

The dr ended up goving her anti nausea and diarrhea meds too that did help

  3. My wife and i are both 7 weeks out. She has had a hard time getting food or drinks in in general. However shes been really sick since saturday. Shes had bad diarrhea and saturday we had to take her to the ER. She had extremely low potassium due to the diarrhea. She is still having diarrhea and nausea every day. I am worried. The ER said the diarrhea was most likely from a virus, but she has no other symptoms. We got our syrgery in mexico so we have no follow up care. Has anyone had this experience before or any ideas??

  4. Whats a ppi? An anti-acid? No, not regularly

You need to talk to your doctor about a PPI (acid reducer). Not only is acid painful, but it also mimics the feeling of hunger. I took mine for about a year but this far out, rarely take it. I still do rolaids when I need to, but at the beginning, my PPI was essential.

    Ask.

    Thank you!

  5. Just a little thing re salads -

Be careful of lettuce, especially iceberg lettuce...

It carries an enzyme that can (and does) cause some real problems with your stomach...

It's often to blame when people assume they have 'food poisoning'...

To the point where, as a (former) commercial catering manager/chef, I was not allowed to serve iceberg lettuce on any of the menus of any of my childcare centres, nor any restaurant that catered for school groups...

Plus, as stated by others, it has very little nutritional value and takes up space...

I wpuld never eat iceburg lettuce, only dark leafy greens

  6. I am not going to tell you what you should or should not do and I totally understand your craving for salad because I had it, too.

When I asked my NP, she asked me what I missed about salads and I told her it was the crunch. She told me to go to a salad bar and make a "salad" out of all my favorite toppings, add seeds, dressing and cheese and enjoy. She told me lettuce had almost no nutritional value and just took up space. She advised me to skip it and she was right.

I got all the flavors of carrots and broccoli and onions and sunflower seeds and egg and bacon bits and blue cheese and... YUM!!

Couldn't eat much but got some Fiber and Protein, too.

Now, I will say, I was 3 months out before I was released for salad so don't take my advice. Some veggies may be far too fibrous for your 7 week old tummy and lettuce may be your only option right now. Ask questions but don't worry about eating a bit more lettuce. It chews to nothing.

A very important lesson, though? Just because you CAN eat more, doesn't mean you should.

Thank you. I am only having spinach and mixed greens, no toppings. Thanks for the help!

  7. I am about 7 weeks out and i started eating salad this week. It is wonderful and its like the only thing i eat that i dont have a weird feeling after. However, i also feel like i can eat a lot more of it than anything else, maybe a cup of greens. I wanted to see if you guys think its normal or that it wont stretch my stomach if im having more than the normal 2 ounces.

    Thanks!!
