BelgianGuy got a reaction from Andrea72 in Regretting the sleeve so much and afraid I will die or have serious problems down the road
I am young as well, just one year older than you. I know it just straight up sucks at first: pain, liquid food that tastes like sh!t, etc.
I had regrets as well, but now I am already half through my weight goal in only 7 weeks.
Also you should follow the golden rule of the Internet: don't believe everything that is written on the internet. I got myself all worked up one week before surgery due to some stupid articles, but a rapid look at their sources (if they had any) quickly proved it was all based on ... nothing.
Just keep in mind that being obese is not healthy at all, and might as well have ruined your youth. I mean, I am 23 years old and was already having sleep apneas and backpain, things that should not happen at such a young age... Plus ablation of the stomach has been used in various situations to treat cancer for example. If you are afraid of growing older faster, drink more green tea and have a tiny piece of 70% black chocolate from time to time But I don't think it will happen since your article is nothing but a pile of dung.

Let yourself the time to heal and feel better, go to a support group and embrace the change. Enjoy your loss weight because it sure made me a lot happier Cheers!

Respect to all of you. We all can understand the pain, embarrassment and all that go with being overweight. I recently seen I post on another site with a man stated he couldn't stand overweight people. That we appall and enrage him. Needles to say he got a few words from me but it's just ignorance at its finest. I applaud anyone who tries to better themselves in any way. My moment among many listed above was when my Dr toldmei would be dead in a couple years cause of my weight, I was 42 years young..... Congrats to all of you and the best of luck. Feel free to add me as. Friend, motivater, and helper in any way I can.....

It really bugs me that some surgeons say you should not use it. sleep apneas are not to be played with, especially post-op...

My mom had a lap band and revised it to a sleeve, it's been three years now. She enjoys the occasional glass of wine of beer (really slowly though) or some pizza but hasn't gain a pound from what I can tell.
I guess it's fine as long as you do it in a moderate manner. I don't think WLS means you have to stay away from everything...
Be your own judge I guess.

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Bluesky1 in Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!
I was sleeved on the 25th of February, this far I have lost 38lbs. I go to the swimming pool twice a week for two weeks now and try to bike 2 to 3 times a week if the weather isn't awful as hell.

Well as someone from Belgium, I do hope I will be able to sip a bit from a trappist beer in the future But I never was a big soda fan, except maybe Dr. Pepper, but really occasionally.

This doesn't make any sense, I had to have mine to avoid having pulmonary problems. My surgeon made it very clear I even had to bring it to the recovery room.

Don't worry, English is my second language as well, it was pretty difficult to find an interesting and/or active bariatric community on the internet that was non-English speaking anyway!

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Christinamo7 in Im scared my op is after tomorrow
I was also stressed as hell, I barely slept 4 hours the night before the surgery! I even shed a manly tear during the car ride to the hospital. But don't worry, the surgery is actually very fast (it lasted 45 minutes for me), and except for the two first annoying and tiredsome weeks, I recovered really quickly and now I am really happy about my weightloss and I see many positive changes in my life!
It's going to change many aspect of your life, and going out of what you have known for years is scary, but you will be fine! Cheers

BelgianGuy got a reaction from moe1983 in Leak risk? Till when
Risks are already really tiny and most of the leaks happen within the first three days (and they almost never happen). I was quite worried about that but my surgeon told me that after six weeks, you are risk free of having a leak.

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Killian in Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
I am only 23, but ever since I was 17, I have struggled with obesity. Before I was rather thin and healthy, but due to some anti-depression meds, I started eating a lot and also drinking a lot. I used to navigate between 125kilograms and 95 kilograms, and sometimes I would gain 10kilos in only a month when I could not bare not eating or drinking.
It was starting to screw with my personality and I was becoming more and more depressed, even nihilistic at times . Some sort of downroad spiral.
So that's why I chose this surgery, it's radical, it puts you clear limits and rules, and unless you are crazy and/or are unable to feel pain, it's impossible to eat as much as you used to, and it completely changes the way you think about food, etc.
I know it's not a "miraculous" surgery, and that I can screw it all if I am stupid enough to do so, but it's only thing I have found that has stopped my obsession about food and alcohol. Whenever I see how much I eat now, I just feel plain disgusted by my old habits, and I sure never want to be like that again.
