Ok, so I was barely squeezing into a 30/32 in avenue women's clothing prior to surgery. So at about 10 months post-op, I went to lane bryant's during a sale and decided to buy a size 18/20 (I've always been hourglass/pear shape), thinking, these pants will probably last me through thanksgiving (I've experienced too big pants that look like you 're carrying a load of something really unpleasant around in the gluteal area), and those joints fit....I mean they fit like the fit will only last about a month of two; what a NSV for me! Another NSV is two other people sitting next to me on the NYC MTA subway (ok so they, not the fattest person, but two other people on a three sitter is an NSV for me!).

Dumping syndrome is typically a bypass problem not a sleeve problem. There are a few sleevers who dump, but most of us don't.
First of all, I don't understand why anyone would even try those things "early on" as you say.... But being over 2.5 years out I can speak to "later on."
I was at a party about a year out and was desperately searching for something non alcoholic to drink and found "mineral water" in a bottle and poured a glass and drank some without realizing it was carbonated. Thought I was gonna die! Never again!
Rice hurts also, even a few grains. bread turns into a glue ball and feels icky... Toasted it's fine, as are crackers and such. Soft potatoes do the same. Haven't had noodles/pasta because I assume it's the same.
Sugar I can tolerate more of than I probably should. Cookies and such are no problem. Fried is fine in the very limited amounts I do, I don't have an issue with one chicken strip or piece of fish and chips. Spice is fine too.

It's the lack on energy that is hard the first few weeks. After a c-section you can eat, not so after wls.

I was off from work for 4 weeks and I worked at home for 3 weeks before I returned to the office. You will be drained the first few weeks after surgery. I wasn't prepared for the total lack of energy. Don't rush back to work if you don"t have to.

Yup you are loco! I had 2 c-sections and found them to be more painful than VSG. Big difference with this surgery is the liquid diet. You might have less pain but the change in diet can leave you tired and moody for awhile. I was worse at 2 weeks than I was at 1 week. I kept feeling bad until I started soft foods and Vitamins. After that I bounced back quickly and felt great. Remember your fluids and Protein are your priority. Good luck!!!

If you were my surgeon's patient, he would suggest 8 weeks off and require 6 weeks off as a minimum.

I am thankful for health insurance coverage that allowed me to make a life change 3 years ago! Yesterday was my 39th birthday and I worked out twice! I love my sleeve and all the opportunities that it gives me!

Finally, I hit a big goal and have lost 100 pounds. It feels so good, but I can't decide what kind of reward I should give myself. I'm sure I will come up with something. Now to go after those last 45 pesky pounds.
Next goal is 11 more pounds and I'm officially not obese. I think that will be even bigger accomplishment.

Sleeved on 3/7. I have moved to solids but I can only eat about 3.5 ounces at a meal. Getting in 64 ounces of Water a day is not a problem. There is no hope for 90 to 120 grams of Protein a day. The shakes are beyond nasty. My energy has been coming back and I had no post-op complications. I have tolerated just about everything I ate, except really spicy foods but I haven't tried bread or salad yet. I stay away from foods with Surculose. It makes me nauseous. I do get the slimes but taking a PPI helps with that. I am back doing Zumba 3 days a week and at least two other days, I walk at least 10,000 steps. I have been taking all my Vitamin supplements. So far I am down 32 pounds since surgery.

It's too soon to not strictly adhere to your diet. You are still healing but the temptation is real. Today is my husband's but I resisted having even a sliver of cake.

My appointment went great. My surgeon wasn't there of course (I figured I wouldn't see him again unless I had complications) but I did see him a few weeks ago at a book signing and he seemed happy with my progress.
The good news: of my labs come back ok I can drop most of my supplements except for the Multivitamin.
The other cool thing is that I have lost enough for my BMI to actually be on the chart on the wall.
I want to thank each of you for the kind words and encouragement. It means a lot to me. I couldn't do it without you.

I am almost five weeks out. Haven't thrown up and I only get nauseous when I eat/drink anything with nasty ass surclose. I do get the slimes but PPIs have been helping with that. Most days I can get the Water in. My issue is Protein. I never get anywhere never 70 grams. It will get better. I can drink 16 oz in an hour. I should be transitioning to solid foods after my doc's appointment next week. Hopefully I will do well with solids. It's a journey. Take it one day at a time.

I wish that I knew how emotional I would be the week after surgery.
I wish I knew that the "after" was really not that bad. (at least for me) I worried so much about nausea and inability to eat/drink before surgery...My doctors took good care of me and I had none of those issues.
I wish I knew that the week after surgery it is entirely possible to not lose weight even though all you do is drink. It apparently can happen any time....and can last a while. (I started getting regrets)
I wish I knew that unflavored Protein powder...is not flavorless. I still haven't found a way to add it to any food. Instead I stick to keeping Protein supplements between meals and choosing foods that have protein in them. I track everything on myfitnesspal and I'm meeting my goals with out that expensive useless jar of nasty powder.< /p>

My NP suggested that all weight loss surgery patients take a PPI for 3 months post-surgery. I purchased some before surgery but I didn't take any because I incorrectly assumed that the pill was a huge horse pill. You can't crush them because they are extended release. I finally opened the bottle and the pill is actually fairly small, so I was able to swallow with no problem. I hope the PPI helps.
