I'm so glad I took pictures on the way down. It's a fun little exercise to put them together and compare. I do feel like I look just right at the moment when I look at these.

Well, that's terrible. Sorry, but you just had major surgery. Your stomach was brutalized. And now you are mistreating it even further by eating things you shouldn't be? Give it a chance to heal. You are risking major injury by eating solid foods only one week post-op. Little bits of food can get caught in your staple line before it heals, leading to ulcers and abscesses down the road.

I'm just starting this journey my consultation with the surgeon is March 22nd . I worry a lot about complications and things that could go wrong in surgery more than anything .. Anyone else worry about this .. I also worry about how long the whole process will take and if I'm going to back out

So, this is the plan:
Monday, you call the surgeon's office and make an appointment to meet with the insurance rep. (medical secretary--whatever title the office uses)--the employee that is responsible for submitting all completed documentation into the insurance companies.
Then:
You and this person sit down, call your insurance company, find out EXACTLY what they are missing--if anything (you may already be approved), and TOGETHER --before leaving the office--gather all of the needed/completed documentation and fax it--following with the hard copies.
Sometimes we just need to be self assertive. Take your future into your own hands. GET IT DONE!!!!
Keep posting and keep us up to date. (so we can give you another kick in to pants, when needed)
Prayers going up for you, my friend.

Blood clots and pneumonia are very real risks for any surgery.
The good thing is that your surgeon is aware of this. That is why you have to follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter. His or her's primary goal is to get you through surgery alive and well.
Even if you think something you are asked to do is silly or that you can't do it, do it anyway. Everything from your preop diet, getting up and walking, following your food phases, avoiding NSAIDs, taking blood thinners, drinking water/staying hydrated, getting enough Protein, to breathing with your spirometer, etc. is for your benefit and to minimize risks.
If you have carefully chosen a skilled and experienced surgeon and follow directions you should be fine.
