I'm reading this book on Sports Nutrition and it says that caffeine isn't really dehydrating after all. I just read that about an hour a go.

I hate it when people post just to post.....
Sorry about all the people whose relatives are having problems with serious illnesses... I also found I hated Diet Coke after not drinking it for a while. So, I did my birthday triathlon and I had a really good time and I finished in a really good time (for me). I went to see the posted results and .... I was in first place for my age group! I said "no way" and then looked at the total time... it was 30 min. short. All the times were wrong. They were the combination of everything up to the run. But didn't include the run. So I figured when they fixed them, I'd be out of first place, but I decided to enjoy it for the hour it took to post the corrected results.

I don't think it will. I was planning on leaving anyway.

support group
It's under "Monthly Support Groups". Monthly VSG Support Groups - Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery (VSG) Forum Go to 2009 and there are some threads for different surgery months. If your month hasn't got one, just start a new one!

In my program, we aren't supposed to drink caffeinated drinks until we can regularly drink 64 oz. of uncaffeinated drinks. And anything with caffeine in it doesn't count towards our daily Fluid intake. I don't like coffee so I don't drink it. I drink decaf tea and Water and sometimes those low-carb flavored drinks like Fuze Slenderize and Sobe Lean.

What's on your mind?
If you just started getting it, then it's probably not directly related to the sleeve. Most people who get nausea as a result of the surgery, get it right away for a few days after and then that's it. Some people do continue to have it after that for a few months and no one seems to know why. Nausea can be caused by so many things that you really need to go to the doctor and get it checked out. It could be from eating too much or too fast, but it could be from your gallbladder (if you still have one), from an inner ear infection, from an allergy, from being pregnant, from the flu, etc. etc. etc.

Protein Bars?
You just have to read the labels. A lot of Protein bars are glorified candy bars with lots of calories (sometimes more than a candy bar, but often around what a candy bar has) and way too many carbs and fat. But there are some that have no more carbs than protein. That's still a lot more than many Protein drinks, but once you are farther out, you'll be eating more carbs anyway. I like the Supreme protein ones but a lot of people also like Pure Protein and Oh Yeah! bars.

Introduction (New Beginning)
Me too. As a shorty, I find any weight over 200 to be really hard on my body. I was very annoyed that some people didn't think I was big enough for WLS once I finally decided to have it, too!
-
Oh my belly help!
I thought for it to be pureed, it's supposed to be actually blended - like in a blender. Maybe chopping it up wasn't enough? (The programs are all different on this one though so maybe your program allows chopped up stuff as a puree?)

What's on your mind?
Well, I'm working on next year's version. Got my review today. Kind of crappy. No raise. Did get a bonus. I'm going to get a new car with it, I think. (Well the down payment on one, anyway.)

OTC Drugs which are ok for sleeve and which are NOT
Isn't that the one where you drink a bunch of stuff to get it going?

Your body sometimes holds on to water when it needs it. Like when you consume too much sodium. So drinking water give your body the water it needs and then it lets it all go.

Post Op Weight Loss
No. But no one *needs* the scale I want. It's just cool.... The main reason I want it is because of the handles. It shoots the current up your legs and also into your hands and that makes it more accurate. I also want to watch my hydration levels building up to a race.

This is probably why my surgeon tells us to take 45 min. to finish our food.

You can't gain two real pounds in 1 day. It's water weight. Drink a lot of water and it will go away.

OTC Drugs which are ok for sleeve and which are NOT
Um, those are about the RnY pouch. We have a sleeve.

argh... so hard to keep up.... Poker: Played with dh and his friends for a while. They were transparent. Often overplayed their hands. It was easy for me to beat them. Mostly I just played the cards I had and once in a while I'd bluff. Missing posts go to the same places as missing socks. And all the matching earrings I've lost over the years.

I'm not bashing men. I'm bashing Mr. Mac.

You could cut them up and take the pieces with water. But not taking vitamins for a few weeks isn't going to hurt too much. Our program has you do liquid or chewable vitamins during this time. That works too.

Confused
He's also wrong about the weight loss.... sleeve and RnY have similar weight loss stats. He's also wrong that bypass patients will "very likely" experience dumping. This is a BIG pet peeve of mine. Only about half of bypass patients dump. For some, the threat is enough. But, for others, they try something with sugar and don't dump and they freak out because they were *counting* on dumping to keep them honest. These people end up very upset and unhappy and often don't lose much weight or have regain issues. It also doesn't cover the DS. But I completely agree with this: Here is a chart that compares all the surgery types: Weight-Loss Surgeries Compared
