Experience - Too tight of a fill

So far so good, I will take a 35 lb loss in 5 months... looking forward to the next 35 to go... I am always ready for it to be more but I'd rather lose it slow and steady.
  5. I have an AP 10 cc band. I went in for a fill on Wednesday. I had been at 5.5 cc and was asked all the regular questions, are you staying full, any reflux or vomiting. etc...No, no, no... The decision was to add another .5 cc. Sounds like nothing correct? at least it did to me. My fill was at 3:00, I able to drink water in the office. I went back to work after. I had a big glass of water at work. Immediately it came back up. Weird but I thought I just drank it too fast. Feeling great again. About 30 minutes later I start getting a fullness and pain in my chest, 15 minutes later I am throwing up, slime and water. I think its odd but figured it was a response to the previous issue with the water. I feel fine again. same senerio, 30 minutes later the fullness and pain the bam. Throwing up again. I realize I can even keep down my own saliva. All of this from getting a fill of.5cc??? I get home at 5:00 a couple of vomiting episodes later, I realize I have to do something and call the Dr.around 7:00, who is great, and he meets me back at the office for an adjustment. He removes .25cc and I feel immediate relief. Its still a bit tight when I get home. I am sure from all the vomiting but by 10:00 I feel fine and the vomiting has stopped. All is better now but I will say I never want to go through that again. My words of wisdom? If it feels too tight or just not right... CALL THE DR!
  6. I get the hiccups after every meal and then usually one very long deep burp. The hiccups are much more annoying.
  7. How did your appointment go? Did you see the nutritionist and get the psyc eval? Did they say how long until they were going to schedule the surgery? I just got my 2nd fill on the 4th of May. Things are going slow but steady on the scale. Good luck!

  8. hi amy.....i am seeing dr ray for the 1st time ( well , beside the seminar i went to in march ) TOMORROW........what all do the visits entail? they said 2 hours for the 1st visit...........i am getting anxious and scared all at once...lol

    Soda soda soda

I agree with this... My doctor said I could have diet soda if it worked for me, but it would be better if I let the glass sit for a while to let some of the bubbles settle. Personally I am not a "huge" soda fan but I use to enjoy a glass once or twice a week. I tried soda the other day for the first time and just a few small sips left me in pain for several hours. I wont do that again. Water or iced tea for me....

    Horrifying First Fill

I've had 2 fills since surgery and they were so quick and painless. My Doctor give you a local shot for pain with a "tiny" needle first but the whole procedure lasted less than 5 minutes both times. He first unfills the band to make sure you have the same as he put in last time then refills with your new fluid. No pain at all.

    Can't give up COFFEE!

When I first mentioned to him and my dietitian that I was nervous about giving up caffeine they both responded the same "who said you had to give up caffeine or coffee" My Doctor said I could have as much coffee as I wanted as long as it settled ok in my stomach. I haven't stopped yet.
  12. 8 lbs the week before surgery and 11 lbs in the past 2 weeks since surgery.
  13. I vote gas pains too. I was banded on the 19th and have had super horrible gas pains. I would love to just have a major burp! I really made an effort to get lots of extra water the past two days and It seems to be helping quite a bit... Might be worth a try.
  14. I would call the office and let them know you are very dedicated and wanting to move onto the next step. Again let them know you are cash pay. I attended my seminar on Jan 29th and was banded Feb 19th. Now granted my Doctor was very impressed with all of the knowledge that I had and research I had done on lap band. I let them know I had been researching while saving and preparing myself mentally for how lap bad would change my life. I am down 18lbs total in 3 weeks. 8lbs in the 2 weeks pre surgery and 10 lbs the past week after surgery. They said they don't usually move that quickly but being a cash pay does have some perks.

    Got Gas?!

I was banded on Tuesday and I can totally relate to you. I would be thrilled to be able to burp or "break wind." I feel like I have a burp stuck in my chest and I can't get it out. I have tried the Gas X but its has given me little relief. Today was my first day back at work and the more activity up and down did help. Keep moving and I hope we both get past this point.
