  1. My stall seems to have ended...but I won't be holding my breath. I've lost and regained the same 2 lbs over and over. I knew there would be stalls but had no idea they would be this early out and last so long. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'm in a stall now - been almost three weeks and I'm only 7 weeks out (almost 8). My nut says 500 calories or less with <15 g of carbs a day until all excess weight is lost. I personally think this is too low and I worry it will wreck my metabolism. I've been eating a little more (closer to 600-800 cals depending on the day) but still am not losing! Waking up with low blood sugar

Anyone else have experience with this?

Waking up with low blood sugar

@proud3bme Thank you for your response. My surgeon said it's not uncommon for WLS patients to have "reactive hypoglycemia" from eating carbs. He said to avoid carbs. BUT...that's the thing, I haven't been eating them. Yesterday I had 9 g of carbs and that would be typical for me at this point due to the restricted diet they have me on. So he's not right...it's not reactive hypoglycemia (I researched it)...he was no help. I think I'm going to add in a few more complex carbs each time I eat from nutrient dense foods like sweet potatoes. Maybe that will help. I drank 1/2 of a Protein shake before bed and it didn't help at all.
  6. I don't have diabetes. I was sleeved on 4/4 and have lost 34 lbs (HW was 277). The last few days I've woken up shaky. I decided to test my blood sugars - this morn it was 58 - anything below 70 is considered hypoglycemic. My surgeon said its not unlikely for WLS to develop reactive hypoglycemia - but that is caused from eating carbs. I'm just now 5-6 days into my pureed food diet and I haven't been eating carbs. Yesterday I had 9g of carbs that came from my Protein shakes - ones that are approved by them. I also had 510 calories and like 68 g of protein. What is going on? Anyone else deal with this? It sucks, it's scary and it makes me feel like crap! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Carbs

My program wants you to have 15 g of carbs or less in the weight loss phase and they should be complex carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Still addicted to carbs!

My surgeon says that obese people are carb addicts. And the only way to kick an addiction is to abstain. When you eat carbs your blood sugar spikes up and then falls quickly sending a message to your body that it's time to eat again. Carbs just make you more hungry. Cut them out and you won't crave them. You'll still have to battle your head hunger though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    April 4's check in.

I'm April 4 but I'm still on a liquid diet. I have a 4 week post op liquid diet (getting so sick of it). But I have energy, I feel pretty much all healed up and I've lost almost 28 lbs! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hunger pains

I'm hungry too. I'm three weeks post op and still on liquids (with about 11 days left). I am hoping once I get to the pureed stage I'll feel more satiated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Also Protein shakes make my mouth extremely dry, I hate it. I'm 3 weeks out and still on full liquids. I drink 60-64 oz of Water a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Losing hair !

@@kdelrosso how long were you struggling with your Protein intake? I'm almost 2 weeks post op and have not made it to 60 g once yet. My diet was advanced from Clear liquids to full liquids and now I'm relying on premiere Protein shakes but I can't seem to choke them down and I'm worried I'll have significant hair loss later! Need advice Please

I'm only 8 days out and I'm kinda dreaming about food! That said, I actually don't want to eat any of that makes sense. Everything feels very new and sensitive to me and I'm almost scared to try food (it will be another three weeks on liquids for me). I will tell you that the first week is the hardest. I had a little buyers remorse on a few occasions but I've heard that's normal. Anything worth having is hard to get. Now that I've turned a corner and am feeling better I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I've lost 23 lbs since I started my pre-op diet. So that's in 18 days. I can't tell you the last time I lost more than 5 lbs!! I'm so looking forward to all the positive changes and firsts ahead of me. It's really exciting!! Will I eat good foods again?

@@2goldengirl Yeah, I'm sure that you're right. I just have such a lengthy post op liquid diet (a month - added to my 10 day liquid pre-op diet and I'm looking at over 5 weeks without a single bite of food) that I just have no idea what my body is gonna tell me when I try to feed it! I just like to hear from other people what their experiences are. There's nothing wrong with that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
