  1. reason I called for ambulance is because it was an emergency how I was feeling and the fluids they gave me did help me and gave me the strength my surgeon is further from my house so I had emergency so I took the closest that could help me because it's better to be in an hospital than to be home waiting for someone to be available to take me to my surgeon. then I had someone available to bring me to my surgeon and they told me the stuff they gave me was good and there suggestion the emergency room gave me was correct as well is to check in with my surgeon. but I disagree with emergency room being completely useless because they gave me fluids and medication that they also gave me at my surgeon hospital.

You did the right thing. Electrolyte imbalances can be very serious. The ER can easily call your surgeon. Wishing you a speedy recovery

  2. Sleeved 5/3 and I'm dying to eat a salad. I will get to have salad again, right?

I've had no other food thoughts -- sugar? Who cares! Diet Coke? Diet what? Wine? Ok, well I'm looking forward to that, too, but seriously, everything else has been fine. I just need some crunch and some Caesar or balsamic vinaigrette!

oh me too! I did notice though when I was on fluids I craved eggs and cottage cheese. as soon as I had them it did not even come close to being as good as I thought, so I hope I still love salad the way I used to.I have a long time to go :(

  3. For 3 days I have stepped on the scale and the first number was a ONE!! I waited 3 days to post because I was convinced my scale was pranking me! The last time I weighed <200 was 12+ years ago in elementary school or early junior high.

I'm so unbelievably excited that this is real! I can't believe I weighed almost 100lbs more than I do right now just a year ago.

    Highest weight/SW: 297.6 lbs

    Surgery 1/18/16: 267.6 lbs

    GW: 150 lbs

    Current weight: 198.4 lbs!!!!!!

    Total loss: 99.2 lbs

Wow that is amazing Congrats to you for all your hard work and diligence!

  4. I am having a real hard time with my Vitamins. I purchased the Celebrate Multi Complete chewable and the directions say to take 2 per day. Well, I vomit every time I take even one. Has anyone tried any others that may not make me so sick? I know that it's probably because there are high doses of Vitamins in each tablet, but if I vomit up 1/2 of the tablet once I take it, what good is it?

I am glad I found your post. I also ordered the Celebrate chewable vitamins and I have taken 3 doses and I have vomited each time. Tonight, I just was trying to dissolve it in my mouth but I ended up biting it and 5 min later was vomiting. Tomorrow I will try to mix with a small smoothie. I don't find them bad, it just seems to be a reaction of my stomach. Needless to say I am scared of vomiting so early in my recovery. A NUT friend of mine said that the B complex's are hard on the stomach in the way that they may be causing the nausea. I am in Canada and found it very difficult to get Bariatric vitamins here. Many of the sites also do not deliver to Canada. Celebrate was the only company I could find that would ship them here..

  5. Next time she says something gross and offensive (try to say it with a straight face): "thanks for your concern and support! It means so much to me!"

After that: "aren't YOU sweet to be concerned about ME. Bless your heart." (look surprised and meaningful)

    Repeat as necessary . . .

    The best advice!!

  6. Well it's been 3 years since I posted, and thought I'd share my experience with those beginning their journey. My surgery was October 31, 2012, and I was 305 pounds. Now I'm 190 pounds. I can eat pretty much as a normal person, but with a small little governor on my stomach. I still avoid breads and starches, because they fill me up so fast. I have completely embraced the healthy fitness oriented lifestyle. Everything in my life is better than before. My piece of wisdom after all this, is that the sleeve will provide a good jump start, but if you don't take ownership of your body, success will be short lived. Good luck to everyone. The first two pics are from 2011, the last is from this week.

  7. My surgery date is May 9th this coming Monday. I would love to keep in touch with people who are getting sleeves around the same time as well. I am currently in the 2nd week of my Doctor's required Liver shrink liquid diet. Can you say hard?

How are you doing so far? Did you have any pre-op requirements?

  8. Hello
I wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for all of the wonderful information on this board. I have learned so much reading through the posts and have been very inspired by all of your tickers! I am flying from Midwest Canada and having my surgery with Dr F. Garcia. the week of May 9-13th.
I was hoping there would be others that may be going that same week?

I am going by myself so it would be nice to have some people to chat with over some fine broth and popsicles. lol
Anyone have some essential info that they would like to part with?
I am having the single incision sleeve but was wondering if I should plan on wearing a maxi dress for the flight home? Or do you think the pain would not increase in the abdomen by the waistband of some comfy pants?
Any ways I cant wait! Thank you all again for your inspiring stories :0
